< Acts 26 >
1 Then Agrippa said to Paul, “Yoʋ have permission to speak for yoʋrself.” So Paul stretched out his hand and began to make his defense:
Agriiphaan Phaawulosiin, “Akka ati ofii keetiif dubbattu siif eeyyamameera” jedhe. Phaawulosis harkaan mallattoo kennee akkana jedhee falmachuu jalqabe;
2 “I consider myself fortunate that it is before yoʋ, King Agrippa, that I am about to make my defense today concerning all the things of which I am being accused by the Jews,
“Yaa Agriiphaa Mooticha, ani sababii waan Yihuudoonni ittiin na himatan hunda falmachuudhaaf jedhee harʼa fuula kee dura dhaabadhuuf akka ayyaantuu tokkoottin of ilaala.
3 especially since yoʋ are acquainted with all the customs and controversies of the Jews. Therefore I beg yoʋ to listen to me patiently.
Kunis waan ati duudhaa fi wal mormii Yihuudootaa hunda keessa beektuufii dha. Kanaafuu ani akka ati obsaan na dhaggeeffattu sin kadhadha.
4 “All the Jews know about my manner of life from my youth up, which was spent from the beginning among my own nation in Jerusalem.
“Ani ijoollummaa kootii jalqabee saba koo keessatti, Yerusaalem keessattis akkamitti akka jiraachaa ture Yihuudoonni hundinuu ni beeku.
5 They have known about me for a long time, if they are willing to testify, that according to the strictest sect of our religion I lived as a Pharisee.
Akka ani akka Fariisicha tokkootti akkuma sirna garee akka malee amantaa keenyatti cichu sanaatti jiraadhe isaanuu bara dheeraa waan na beekaniif, yoo fedhii qabaatan dhugaa baʼuu ni dandaʼu.
6 And now I am standing trial because of my hope in the promise God made to our fathers,
Ammas ani waadaa Waaqni abbootii keenyaaf gale sana waan abdadhuuf qoratamuuf dhiʼaadheen as jira.
7 a promise that our twelve tribes hope to attain as they earnestly serve him night and day. Regarding this hope, King Agrippa, I am being accused by the Jews.
Waadaan kun isuma gosoonni keenya kudha lamaan halkanii guyyaa Waaqa tajaajiluutti jabaatanii raawwatamuu isaa arguu hawwan sanaa dha. Yaa Agriiphaa Mooticha, Yihuudoonnis sababuma abdii kanaatiif na himachaa jiru.
8 Why is it deemed unbelievable by you that God raises the dead?
Akka Waaqni warra duʼan duʼaa kaasu isin maaliif akka waan hin amanamne tokkootti herregdu?
9 “Indeed, I myself was convinced that I ought to do many things against the name of Jesus of Nazareth.
“Ani mataan koo iyyuu maqaa Yesuus nama Naazreetiitiin mormuudhaaf akka waan dandaʼamu hunda gochuu qabu nan amana ture.
10 And that is just what I did in Jerusalem. I locked up many of the saints in prison by the authority I received from the chief priests, and when they were being put to death, I cast my vote against them.
Wanni ani Yerusaalem keessatti hojjedhes kanuma; ani taayitaa luboota hangafoota irraa argadheen qulqulloota baayʼee mana hidhaatti naquu qofa utuu hin taʼin yeroo isaan ajjeefaman iyyuu dubbicha irratti walii galaan ture.
11 I also punished them often in all the synagogues and tried to force them to blaspheme. And being furiously enraged against them, I pursued them even to foreign cities.
Anis akka isaan adabamaniif yeroo baayʼee mana sagadaa tokko irraa gara mana sagadaa biraatti darbaa, akka isaan amantii isaanii arrabsaniifis isaan dirqisiisaan ture. Ani waan akka malee isaanitti aaraa tureef hamma magaalaawwan biyya alaatti illee deemee isaan ariʼachaan ture.
12 “While engaged in such things, I was on my way to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,
“Anis gaafa tokko kanumaaf jedhee taayitaa fi ergama luboota hangafoota biraa fudhadhee utuun Damaasqoo deemaa jiruu,
13 when at midday, O king, I saw on the way a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining around me and those who were traveling with me.
yaa mooticha, ani utuman karaa deemaa jiruu gara saafaatti ifa ifa aduu caalaa ibsu tokko isaa samii irraa naannoo koottii fi naannoo warra na wajjin deemaniitti ibsu arge.
14 When we had all fallen down to the ground, I heard a voice saying to me in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are yoʋ persecuting me? It is hard for yoʋ to kick against the goads.’
Hundi keenya lafatti kukkufne; anis sagalee afaan Ibraayisxiitiin ‘Yaa Saaʼol, yaa Saaʼol, ati maaliif na ariʼatta? Arfii wayii dhiituun suma miidha’ naan jedhu tokkon dhagaʼe.
15 I said, ‘Who are yoʋ, Lord?’ He said, ‘I am Jesus, whom yoʋ are persecuting.
“Anis, ‘Yaa Gooftaa ati Eenyu?’ jedheen gaafadhe. “Gooftaanis deebisee akkana jedhe; ‘Ani Yesuus isa ati ariʼattuu dha.
16 But rise and stand on yoʋr feet, for I have appeared to yoʋ for this purpose, to appoint yoʋ as a servant and witness to the things yoʋ have seen and to the things in which I will appear to yoʋ.
Amma kaʼii miilla keetiin dhaabadhu. Ani akka ati tajaajilaa koo taatee, waaʼee koos waan argitee fi waan ani sitti mulʼisuuf jiru dhugaa baatuuf si muuduuf jedhee sitti mulʼadheera.
17 I will rescue yoʋ from yoʋr own people and from the Gentiles, to whom I am sending yoʋ
Ani saba keetii fi Namoota Ormaa kanneen gara isaaniitti si ergu jalaa sin baasa.
18 to open their eyes so that they may turn away from darkness to light, and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive remission of sins and an allotment among those who have been sanctified by faith in me.’
Atis ija isaanii bantee dukkana keessaa gara ifaatti, humna Seexanaa jalaas gara Waaqaatti isaan deebifta; kunis akka isaan dhiifama cubbuu argatanii fi akka isaan warra natti amanuun qulqullaaʼan gidduutti dhaala argataniif.’
19 “Consequently, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,
“Kanaafuu yaa Agriiphaa Mooticha, ani mulʼata samii irraa dhufe sanaaf ajajamuu hin didne.
20 but first to those in Damascus and then to those in Jerusalem, to all the region of Judea and to the Gentiles, I proclaimed that they should repent and turn to God, doing works consistent with repentance.
Anis akka isaan qalbii jijjiirratanii gara Waaqaatti deebiʼaniif, qalbii jijjiirrachuu isaaniis akka hojiidhaan mirkaneessaniif jalqabatti warra Damaasqootti, warra Yerusaalemiitti, warra Yihuudaa guutuutti akkasumas Namoota Ormaatti lallabeera.
21 That is why the Jews seized me in the temple courts and were trying to kill me.
Sababiin Yihuudoonni mana qulqullummaa keessatti na qabanii na ajjeesuu yaalaniifis kanuma.
22 But having obtained help from God, I stand to this day testifying to both small and great, saying nothing except what the Prophets and Moses said would take place:
Ani garuu hamma guyyaa harʼaatti gargaarsa Waaqaa qaba; kanaafuu ani dhaabadhee xinnaa guddaaf dhugaa baʼaan jira. Ani waan raajonnii fi Museen ‘Ni taʼa’ jedhanii dubbataniin alatti waan tokko illee hin dubbadhu.
23 that the Christ would suffer and that, as the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light to our people and to the Gentiles.”
Kunis akka Kiristoos dhiphachuu qabu, akka inni warra duʼan keessaa kaʼuudhaan kan jalqabaa taʼee saba isaatii fi Namoota Ormaatiif ifa labsuu dha.”
24 As Paul was saying these things in his own defense, Festus said with a loud voice, “Yoʋ are out of yoʋr mind, Paul. Too much learning is driving yoʋ insane!”
Utuma Phaawulos akkasitti falmachaa jiruu Fesxoos sagalee guddaan, “Phaawulos, ati maraatteerta! Barumsi kee guddaan sun si maraachisaa jira” jedheen.
25 But Paul said, “I am not out of my mind, most excellent Festus, but I am speaking words of truth and good sense.
Phaawulosis akkana jedhee deebise; “Yaa Fesxoos kabajamaa, ani hin maraanne; wanni ani dubbachaa jirus dhugaa dha; sirrii dhas.
26 For the king knows about these things, to whom I am speaking boldly. I am convinced that none of these things has escaped his notice at all, for this has not been done in a corner.
Sababii mootichi waan kana beekuuf, ani ifatti baasee isatti himuu nan dandaʼa. Sababii wanni kun suuqatti hin hojjetaminiif ani akka waan kana keessaa tokko iyyuu isa duraa hin dhokatin nan amana.
27 Do yoʋ believe the Prophets, King Agrippa? I know that yoʋ believe.”
Yaa Agriiphaa Mooticha, ati raajota ni amantaa? Akka ati amantu ani iyyuu beeka.”
28 Agrippa said to Paul, “Do yoʋ think yoʋ can persuade me to become a Christian so quickly?”
Agriiphaanis Phaawulosiin, “Ati yeruma gabaabaa keessatti Kiristaana na gochuu yaaddaa?” jedhe.
29 Paul said, “Whether quickly or not, I pray to God that not only yoʋ but also all who are listening to me today would become as I am, except for these chains.”
Phaawulosis deebisee, “Yeroo gabaabaattis taʼu dheeraatti, si qofa utuu hin taʼin akka warri na dhagaʼaa jiran hundinuu foncaa kanaan hidhamuu malee akkuma koo akka taʼan ani Waaqa nan kadhadha” jedhe.
30 After Paul said these things, the king stood up, along with the governor, Bernice, and those who were sitting with them.
Kana irratti mootichi, bulchaanii fi Barniiqeen, akkasumas warri isaan wajjin tataaʼaa turan ol kaʼan.
31 After leaving the room, they began saying to one another, “This man is doing nothing that deserves death or imprisonment.”
Isaanis yeroo gad baʼanitti, “Namichi kun waan duʼaan yookaan hidhaan isa gaʼu tokko illee hin hojjenne” wajjin jedhan.
32 And Agrippa said to Festus, “This man could have been released if he had not appealed to Caesar.”
Agriiphaanis Fesxoosiin, “Namichi kun utuu Qeesaaritti ol iyyachuu baatee silaa ni hiikama ture” jedhe.
