< Acts 11 >

1 Now the apostles and the brothers who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.
Awo abatume n’abooluganda abaali mu Buyudaaya mwonna ne bawulira nti n’Abamawanga bakkiriza ekigambo kya Katonda.
2 So when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision faction began disputing with him,
Naye Peetero bwe yakomawo mu Yerusaalemi, abakomole ne bamunenya,
3 saying, “Yoʋ went into the house of uncircumcised men and ate with them!”
nga bagamba nti, “Lwaki wakyalira Abaamawanga abatali bakomole n’oyingira ne mu nnyumba n’olya nabo?”
4 But Peter began to explain the situation to them, step by step, saying,
Awo Peetero n’abannyonnyola byonna ng’agamba
5 “I was praying in the city of Joppa, and in a trance I saw a vision of an object like a large sheet coming down, being lowered from heaven by its four corners, and it came to me.
nti, “Bwe nnali nsaba, nga ndi mu kibuga kya Yopa, ne njolesebwa. Essuuka ennene ennyo ng’ewaniriddwa ku nsonda zaayo ennya, n’essibwa mu maaso gange ng’eva mu ggulu.
6 As I stared at it, I looked closely and saw four-footed animals of the earth, as well as wild beasts, reptiles, and birds of the sky.
Mu ssuuka eyo ne ndabamu ebisolo byonna eby’oku nsi ebirina amagulu ana, n’ebyewalula, n’ennyonyi ez’omu bbanga.
7 Then I heard a voice saying to me, ‘Rise, Peter, kill and eat.’
Ne mpulira eddoboozi nga liŋŋamba nti, ‘Peetero, situka osale, olye.’
8 But I said, ‘Surely not, Lord! For nothing defiled or unclean has ever entered my mouth.’
“Nze ne nziramu nti, ‘Nedda, Mukama wange, kubanga siryanga ku kintu kya muzizo oba ekitali kirongoofu.’
9 The voice from heaven responded to me a second time: ‘Do not regard as defiled what God has made clean.’
“Naye eddoboozi ne liddamu nga liŋŋamba nti, ‘Ekyo Katonda ky’amaze okulongoosa tokiyitanga ekitali kirongoofu.’
10 This happened three times, and then everything was drawn up again into heaven.
Ne kiba bwe kityo emirundi esatu. Oluvannyuma essuuka n’ezzibwayo mu ggulu ne byonna ebyagirimu.
11 And behold, at that very moment three men arrived at the house where I was; they had been sent to me from Caesarea.
“Amangwago laba abasajja basatu abaatumibwa okuva e Kayisaliya ne batuuka ku nnyumba we nnali nsula!
12 The Spirit told me to go with them without any misgivings. These six brothers also went with me, and we went into the man's house.
Mwoyo Mutukuvu n’aŋŋamba ŋŋende nabo, awatali kulwa, n’abooluganda bano omukaaga ne bamperekerako, ne tutuuka mu maka g’omusajja eyali antumidde ababaka abo.
13 He told us how he had seen an angel standing in his house and saying to him, ‘Send men to Joppa and have them bring back Simon, who is called Peter;
N’atutegeeza nga malayika bwe yamulabikira mu nnyumba ye, n’amugamba nti, ‘Tuma ababaka e Yopa banoonye Simooni ayitibwa Peetero,
14 he will speak a message to yoʋ by which yoʋ will be saved, yoʋ and yoʋr entire household.’
ajje akutegeeze ggwe n’ab’omu nnyumba yo nga bwe muyinza okulokolebwa!’
15 As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, just as he had fallen upon us at the beginning.
“Awo bwe nnali nga nakatandika okubabuulira Enjiri, Mwoyo Mutukuvu n’abakkako nga naffe bwe yatukkako ku kusookera ddala!
16 Then I remembered what the Lord had said: ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’
Awo ne nzijukira ebigambo bya Mukama waffe bwe yagamba nti, ‘Yokaana yabatiza na mazzi, naye mmwe mulibatizibwa na Mwoyo Mutukuvu.’
17 If then God gave them the same gift that he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, how could I stand in God's way?”
Olw’okubanga Katonda ye yawa Abaamawanga bano ekirabo kye kimu, naffe kye yatuwa bwe twakkiriza Mukama waffe Yesu Kristo, nange nze ani eyandiwakanyizza Katonda?”
18 When the apostles and brothers heard this, they ceased their objections and began glorifying God, saying, “Then to the Gentiles also God has granted the repentance that leads to life.”
Bwe baawulira ebigambo ebyo ne basirika, ne bagulumiza Katonda! Ne bagamba nti, “Ddala, n’Abamawanga Katonda abawadde omukisa okwenenya bakyuke badde gy’ali abawe obulamu obutaggwaawo.”
19 Now those who had been scattered because of the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except Jews.
Awo abo abakkiriza abadduka okuva mu Yerusaalemi mu kuyigganyizibwa okwaddirira okuttibwa kwa Suteefano, ne basaasaana ne batuuka ne mu bifo nga Foyiniiki, ne Kupulo, ne Antiyokiya, ne babunya Enjiri, naye nga babuulira Bayudaaya bokka.
20 But there were some Cypriot and Cyrenian men among them who went to Antioch and began speaking to the Hellenists, preaching the good news about the Lord Jesus.
Naye, abamu ku bakkiriza abaagenda mu Antiyokiya nga bava e Kupulo n’e Kuleene ne babuulira Abayonaani ku Mukama waffe Yesu.
21 The hand of the Lord was with them, and a large number of people believed and turned to the Lord.
Awo omukono gwa Mukama ne gubeera wamu nabo, Abaamawanga bangi ne bakkiriza ne bakyuka okudda eri Mukama.
22 News of this reached the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas out to go to Antioch.
Awo ab’omu Kkanisa y’omu Yerusaalemi bwe baawulira ebyo, ne batuma Balunabba mu Antiyokiya ayambe abakkiriza.
23 When he arrived and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced and began exhorting all the believers to remain true to the Lord with resolute hearts.
Bwe yatuuka n’alaba eby’ekitalo Katonda bye yali akola mu bantu, n’ajjula essanyu, n’akubiriza abakkiriza banywerere ku Mukama n’emitima gyabwe gyonna.
24 For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a large number of people were added to the Lord.
Balunabba yali muntu wa kisa ng’ajjudde Mwoyo Mutukuvu n’okukkiriza, abantu bangi ne basenga Mukama.
25 Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul.
Oluvannyuma lw’ebyo Balunabba n’alaga e Taluso okunoonya Sawulo,
26 When he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for an entire year they met with the church and taught a large number of people, and it was in Antioch that the disciples were first called Christians.
bwe yamulaba n’amuleeta mu Antiyokiya. Bombi ne babeera mu Antiyokiya okumala omwaka mulamba nga bakolera wamu n’Ekkanisa yaayo, ne bayigiriza abantu bangi nnyo. Wano mu Antiyokiya abayigirizwa we baasookera okuyitibwa Abakristaayo.
27 In those days some prophets came down to Antioch from Jerusalem.
Mu kiseera ekyo ne wabaawo bannabbi abaaserengeta mu Antiyokiya nga bava mu Yerusaalemi.
28 One of them, named Agabus, stood up and indicated by the Spirit that a severe famine was about to come upon the entire world (which indeed took place in the time of Claudius Caesar).
Omu ku bo erinnya lye Agabo n’asituka ng’ajjudde Mwoyo Mutukuvu n’ategeeza ng’enjala ey’amaanyi bw’ejja okugwa mu nsi zonna wonna mu bufuzi bwa Kulawudiyo.
29 So the disciples, each according to his own ability, determined to send relief to the brothers who dwelt in Judea.
Awo abayigirizwa ne bamalirira okuweereza obuyambi eri abooluganda abaali mu Buyudaaya, buli muntu nga yeesonda nga bwe yasobola,
30 This they did, sending it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
ne batuma Balunabba ne Sawulo batwalire abakadde.
