Acts 10
1 Now there was a man in Caesarea named Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian cohort.
౧కైసరయ పట్టణంలో కొర్నేలి అనే భక్తిపరుడు ఉండేవాడు. ఇతడు ఇటలీ దళానికి చెందిన ఒక శతాధిపతి.
2 He was a devout man who feared God along with his entire household; he gave generously to those in need and always prayed to God.
౨అతడు కుటుంబ సమేతంగా దేవుణ్ణి ఆరాధించేవాడు. యూదు ప్రజలకు దానధర్మాలు చేస్తూ ఎప్పుడూ దేవునికి ప్రార్థన చేసేవాడు.
3 About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God, who came in and said to him, “Cornelius!”
౩మధ్యాహ్నం సుమారు మూడు గంటలప్పుడు దేవుని దూత అతని దగ్గరికి వచ్చి, “కొర్నేలీ” అని పిలవడం దర్శనంలో స్పష్టంగా చూశాడు.
4 Staring at him intently, Cornelius was afraid and said, “What is it, Lord?” The angel said to him, “Yoʋr prayers and charitable acts have ascended as a memorial offering before God.
౪అతడు ఆ దూతను తేరి చూసి చాలా భయపడి, “ప్రభూ, ఏమిటి?” అని అడిగాడు. అందుకు దూత, “నీ ప్రార్థనలూ పేదలకు నీవు చేసే దానధర్మాలూ దేవుని సన్నిధికి జ్ఞాపకార్థంగా చేరాయి.
5 Now send men to Joppa and have them bring back Simon, who is called Peter.
౫ఇప్పుడు యొప్పేకు మనుషులను పంపి, పేతురు అనే మారు పేరున్న సీమోనును పిలిపించుకో.
6 He is staying with a tanner named Simon, whose house is by the sea.”
౬అతడు సీమోను అనే ఒక చర్మకారుని దగ్గర ఉన్నాడు. అతని ఇల్లు సముద్రం పక్కనే ఉంది” అని చెప్పాడు.
7 When the angel who spoke to him went away, Cornelius called two of his servants and a devout soldier from among his attendants.
౭ఆ దూత వెళ్ళిన తరువాత కొర్నేలి తన ఇంట్లో పని చేసే ఇద్దర్ని, తనను ఎప్పుడూ కనిపెట్టుకుని ఉండే భక్తిపరుడైన ఒక సైనికుణ్ణి పిలిచి
8 After explaining everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.
౮వారికి ఈ సంగతులన్నీ వివరించి వారిని యొప్పేకి పంపాడు.
9 On the next day, as the men were traveling along and approaching the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray at about the sixth hour.
౯తరువాతి రోజున వారు ప్రయాణమై పోయి పట్టణానికి దగ్గరగా వచ్చేటప్పటికి పగలు సుమారు పన్నెండు గంటల వేళకి పేతురు ప్రార్థన చేసుకోడానికి ఇంటి పైకి వెళ్ళాడు.
10 He became hungry and wanted to eat, and as they were preparing a meal, a trance fell upon him.
౧౦అతనికి బాగా ఆకలిగా ఉండి, భోజనం చేయాలనిపిస్తే ఇంట్లో వారు వంట సిద్ధం చేస్తూ ఉన్నారు. అదే సమయంలో అతడు పారవశ్యానికి లోనై,
11 He saw heaven opened and an object like a large sheet coming down to him. It was tied at its four corners and was being lowered to the earth.
౧౧ఆకాశం తెరుచుకుని, నాలుగు చెంగులు పట్టి దింపిన పెద్ద దుప్పటి లాంటి పాత్ర ఒకటి భూమి మీదికి దిగి రావడం చూశాడు.
12 In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, as well as wild beasts, reptiles, and birds of the sky.
౧౨దానిలో భూమి మీద ఉన్న అన్నిరకాల నాలుగు కాళ్ళ జంతువులూ పాకే పురుగులూ ఆకాశ పక్షులూ ఉన్నాయి.
13 Then a voice came to him: “Rise, Peter, kill and eat.”
౧౩అప్పుడు, “పేతురూ, లేచి చంపుకుని తిను” అనే ఒక శబ్డం అతనికి వినిపించింది.
14 But Peter said, “Surely not, Lord! For I have never eaten anything that is defiled or unclean.”
౧౪అయితే పేతురు, “వద్దు ప్రభూ. నిషిద్ధమైన దానినీ అపవిత్రమైన దానినీ నేనెప్పుడూ తినలేదు” అని జవాబిచ్చాడు.
15 The voice came to him again a second time: “Do not regard as defiled what God has made clean.”
౧౫“దేవుడు పవిత్రం చేసిన వాటిని నీవు నిషిద్ధం అనకు” అని మళ్ళీ రెండవసారి ఆ స్వరం అతనికి వినబడింది.
16 This happened three times, and then the object was taken up again into heaven.
౧౬ఈ విధంగా మూడుసార్లు జరిగింది. వెంటనే ఆ పాత్ర ఆకాశానికి తిరిగి వెళ్ళిపోయింది.
17 While Peter was greatly perplexed, pondering within himself what the vision he had seen might mean, behold, the men sent by Cornelius had asked for Simon's house and were standing at the gate.
౧౭పేతురు తనకు వచ్చిన దర్శనం ఏమిటో అని తనలో తాను ఆలోచించుకుంటూ అయోమయంలో ఉండగా, కొర్నేలి పంపిన మనుషులు సీమోను ఇంటి కోసం వాకబు చేసి, తలుపు దగ్గర నిలబడి
18 They called out and asked if Simon, who was called Peter, was staying there.
౧౮“పేతురు అనే పేరున్న సీమోను ఇక్కడుంటున్నాడా?” అని అడిగారు.
19 As Peter continued pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, some men are looking for yoʋ.
౧౯పేతురు ఆ దర్శనాన్ని గురించి ఇంకా ఆలోచిస్తూ ఉండగానే ఆత్మ, “చూడు, ముగ్గురు వ్యక్తులు నీ కోసం చూస్తున్నారు.
20 Now get up, go downstairs, and go with them without any misgivings, for I have sent them.”
౨౦నీవు లేచి కిందికి దిగి వారితో పాటు వెళ్ళు. వారితో వెళ్ళడానికి సంకోచించవద్దు. వారిని నేనే పంపాను” అని అతనితో చెప్పాడు.
21 So Peter went down to the men and said, “Behold, I am the one you are looking for. For what reason have you come?”
౨౧పేతురు ఆ మనుషుల దగ్గరికి దిగి వెళ్ళి, “మీరు వెదికే వాణ్ణి నేనే. మీరెందుకు వచ్చారు?” అని అడిగాడు.
22 They said, “Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous and God-fearing man, who is well spoken of by the entire Jewish nation, was directed by a holy angel to send for yoʋ to come to his house and to hear a message from yoʋ.”
౨౨అందుకు వారు, “నీతిమంతుడు, దేవుణ్ణి ఆరాధించేవాడు, యూదులందరి దగ్గరా మంచి పేరు సంపాదించిన శతాధిపతి కొర్నేలి అనే ఒకాయన ఉన్నాడు. తన ఇంటికి నిన్ను పిలిపించుకుని నీవు చెప్పే మాటలు వినాలని పరిశుద్ధ దూత అతనికి తెలియజేశాడు” అని చెప్పారు. అప్పుడు పేతురు వారిని లోపలికి పిలిచి అతిథ్యమిచ్చాడు.
23 So Peter invited them in and put them up for the night. The next day Peter went with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa accompanied him.
౨౩తెల్లవారగానే పేతురు లేచి, వారితో బయలుదేరాడు. వారితోపాటు కొంతమంది యొప్పే ఊరి సోదరులు కూడా వెళ్ళారు.
24 The following day they entered Caesarea. Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends.
౨౪ఆ మరుసటి రోజు వారు కైసరయ చేరుకున్నారు. కొర్నేలి తన బంధుమిత్రులను పిలిపించి వారి కోసం ఎదురుచూస్తున్నాడు.
25 When Peter entered the house, Cornelius met him, fell at his feet, and worshiped him.
౨౫పేతురు లోపలికి రాగానే కొర్నేలి అతనికి ఎదురు వెళ్ళి అతని పాదాల మీద పడి నమస్కారం చేశాడు.
26 But Peter raised him up, saying, “Stand up; I too am just a man.”
౨౬అయితే పేతురు అతనిని లేపి “లేచి నిలబడు. నేను కూడా మనిషినే” అని చెప్పాడు.
27 As Peter talked with him, he went in and found many people gathered together.
౨౭అతనితో మాట్లాడుతూ లోపలికి వెళ్ళి చాలామంది సమావేశమై ఉండడం చూశాడు.
28 Peter said to them, “You know that it is forbidden for a Jewish man to keep company with or associate with a foreigner, but God has shown me that I should call no one defiled or unclean.
౨౮అప్పుడతడు, “అన్యజాతి వారిని సందర్శించడం, వారితో సాంగత్యం చేయడం యూదునికి నియమం కాదని మీకు తెలుసు. అయితే ఏ వ్యక్తినీ నిషిద్ధమైన వాడుగా, అపవిత్రుడుగా ఎంచకూడదని దేవుడు నాకు చూపించాడు.
29 That is why I came without objection when I was sent for. I ask then, what is the reason you have sent for me?”
౨౯కాబట్టి నన్ను పిలిచినప్పుడు అభ్యంతరం చెప్పకుండా వచ్చాను. ఇప్పుడు నన్నెందుకు పిలిపించావో నాకు చెప్పు” అని కొర్నేలితో చెప్పాడు.
30 Cornelius said, “Four days ago I was fasting until this hour. At the ninth hour I was praying in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing.
౩౦అందుకు కొర్నేలి, “నాలుగు రోజుల క్రితం ఇదే సమయానికి, మధ్యాహ్నం మూడు గంటలకు నేను మా ఇంట్లో ప్రార్థన చేసుకుంటున్నాను. ఉన్నట్టుండి ధగధగలాడే బట్టలు ధరించిన ఒక వ్యక్తి నా ఎదురుగా నిలబడి
31 The man said, ‘Cornelius, yoʋr prayer has been heard, and yoʋr charitable acts have been remembered before God.
౩౧‘కొర్నేలీ, దేవుడు నీ ప్రార్థన విన్నాడు. పేదవారికి నీవు చేసిన దానధర్మాలను బట్టి నిన్ను జ్ఞాపకం చేసుకున్నాడు. నీవు యొప్పేకు మనిషిని పంపి
32 Therefore send to Joppa and ask for Simon, who is called Peter. He is staying by the sea in the house of a tanner named Simon. When he arrives, he will speak to yoʋ.’
౩౨పేతురు అనే మారు పేరున్న సీమోనును పిలిపించు. అతడు సముద్రం పక్కనే ఉన్న చర్మకారుడు సీమోను ఇంట్లో ఉన్నాడు’ అని నాతో చెప్పాడు.
33 So I sent for yoʋ at once, and yoʋ have done well by coming. Now then, we are all here in the presence of God to hear all that yoʋ have been commanded by God.”
౩౩వెంటనే మీకు కబురు పెట్టాను. మీరు రావడం మంచిది అయింది. ప్రభువు మీకాజ్ఞాపించిన వాటన్నిటిని వినడానికి ఇప్పుడు మేమంతా దేవుని సన్నిధిలో ఇక్కడ సమావేశం అయ్యాము” అని చెప్పాడు. అందుకు పేతురు ఇలా అన్నాడు,
34 Then Peter opened his mouth and said, “Now I truly understand that God shows no partiality,
౩౪“దేవుడు పక్షపాతం లేకుండా అందరినీ సమదృష్టితో చూస్తాడని నేను ఇప్పుడు స్పష్టంగా తెలుసుకున్నాను.
35 but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.
౩౫ప్రతి జనంలోనూ తనపట్ల భయభక్తులు కలిగి నీతిగా నడుచుకునే వారిని ఆయన అంగీకరిస్తాడు.
36 You yourselves know the message he sent to the sons of Israel, preaching the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all,
౩౬యేసు క్రీస్తు అందరికీ ప్రభువు. ఆయన ద్వారా దేవుడు శాంతి సువార్తను ప్రకటిస్తూ, ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు పంపిన సందేశం మీకు తెలిసిందే కదా.
37 the message that spread throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John preached:
౩౭యోహాను ప్రకటించిన బాప్తిసం తరువాత గలిలయ మొదలు యూదయ ప్రాంతమంతా జరిగిన సంగతులు కూడా మీకు తెలుసు.
38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, who then went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with him.
౩౮అవేవంటే దేవుడు నజరేతువాడైన యేసును పరిశుద్ధాత్మతోనూ, బలప్రభావాలతోనూ అభిషేకించాడు. దేవుడు ఆయనతో ఉన్నాడు కాబట్టి ఆయన మేలు చేస్తూ సాతాను పీడన కింద ఉన్న వారందరినీ బాగుచేస్తూ వెళ్ళాడు.
39 We are witnesses of everything he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a cross,
౩౯ఆయన యూదుల దేశంలో, యెరూషలేములో చేసిన వాటన్నిటికీ మేము సాక్షులం. ఈ యేసుని వారు మానుకు వేలాడదీసి చంపారు.
40 but God raised him up on the third day and allowed him to be seen,
౪౦దేవుడాయనను మూడవ రోజున సజీవంగా తిరిగి లేపాడు.
41 not by all the people, but by us, the witnesses who had been chosen beforehand by God, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
౪౧ప్రజలందరికీ కాక దేవుడు ముందుగా ఏర్పరచిన సాక్షులకే, అంటే ఆయన చనిపోయి లేచిన తరువాత ఆయనతో కలిసి అన్నపానాలు చేసిన మాకే, ఆయన ప్రత్యక్షంగా కనిపించేలా అనుగ్రహించాడు.
42 He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one who has been appointed by God as judge of the living and the dead.
౪౨దేవుడు సజీవులకూ మృతులకూ న్యాయాధిపతిగా నియమించినవాడు ఈయనే అని ప్రజలకు ప్రకటించి సాక్షమివ్వాలని ఆయన మాకు ఆజ్ఞాపించాడు.
43 All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives remission of sins through his name.”
౪౩ఆయనలో విశ్వాసముంచే వారంతా ఆయన నామంలో పాపక్షమాపణ పొందుతారని ప్రవక్తలంతా ఆయనను గూర్చి సాక్షమిస్తున్నారు” అని చెప్పాడు.
44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message.
౪౪పేతురు ఈ మాటలు చెబుతూ ఉండగానే అతని బోధ విన్న వారందరి మీదికీ పరిశుద్ధాత్మ దిగాడు.
45 All the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were astonished, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was being poured out even on the Gentiles.
౪౫సున్నతి పొందిన విశ్వాసులంతా, అంటే పేతురుతో పాటు వచ్చినవారంతా, పరిశుద్ధాత్మ వరాన్ని యూదేతరుల మీద కూడా దేవుడు కుమ్మరించడం చూసి ఆశ్చర్యచకితులయ్యారు.
46 For they heard them speaking in tongues and magnifying God. Then Peter responded,
౪౬ఎందుకంటే యూదేతరులు భాషల్లో మాట్లాడుతూ దేవుణ్ణి స్తుతించడం వారు విన్నారు.
47 “Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”
౪౭అప్పుడు పేతురు, “మనలాగా పరిశుద్ధాత్మను పొందిన వీరు నీటి బాప్తిస్మం పొందకుండా ఎవరైనా అడ్డు చెప్పగలరా?” అని చెప్పి
48 So he gave orders to have them baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay on for a few days.
౪౮యేసుక్రీస్తు నామంలో వారు బాప్తిస్మం పొందాలని ఆజ్ఞాపించాడు. అటు తరువాత మరికొన్ని రోజులు తమ దగ్గర ఉండమని వారతన్ని బతిమాలారు.
