2 Timothy 2
1 Yoʋ then, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
Portanto tu, meu filho, fortifica-te na graça que há em Cristo Jesus.
2 Entrust what yoʋ have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses to faithful men who will be competent to teach others also.
E o que de mim ouviste entre muitas testemunhas, confia-o a pessoas fiéis, que sejam competentes para ensinar também a outros.
3 Endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
Sofre comigo as aflições como bom soldado de Cristo Jesus.
4 No one serving as a soldier entangles himself in the affairs of civilian life, since he seeks to please the one who enlisted him.
Nenhum soldado em batalha se envolve com assuntos desta vida, pois tem como objetivo agradar àquele que o alistou.
5 Similarly, an athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.
E, também, se alguém está competindo como atleta, não recebe a coroa se não seguir as regras.
6 The hardworking farmer ought to receive the first share of the crops.
O lavrador que trabalha deve ser o primeiro a receber da partilha dos frutos.
7 Think about what I am saying. May the Lord give yoʋ understanding in everything.
Considera o que digo; pois o Senhor te dará entendimento em tudo.
8 Remember Jesus Christ, the offspring of David, who was raised from the dead according to my gospel.
Lembra-te de Jesus Cristo, ressuscitado dos mortos, da descendência de Davi, segundo o meu evangelho.
9 For this gospel I suffer to the point of being chained like a criminal, but the word of God is not chained.
Por esse [evangelho] sofro aflições, e até prisões, como um criminoso; mas a palavra de Deus não está presa.
10 Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the chosen, so that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. (aiōnios g166)
Por isso tudo suporto por causa dos escolhidos, a fim de que também eles obtenham a salvação que está em Cristo Jesus com glória eterna. (aiōnios g166)
11 This saying is trustworthy: If we died with him, we will also live with him;
Esta afirmação [é] fiel: se morrermos com [ele], também com [ele] viveremos;
12 if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he will also deny us;
se sofrermos, também com [ele] reinaremos; se o negarmos, também ele nos negará;
13 if we are unfaithful, he remains faithful; he cannot deny himself.
se formos infiéis, ele continua fiel; porque ele não pode negar a si mesmo.
14 Remind the people of these things, solemnly charging them before the Lord not to quarrel about words, which does no good but only leads to the ruin of those who are listening.
Lembra-os disso, alertando-os diante de Deus, que não tenham brigas de palavras, que não têm proveito algum, [a não ser] para a ruína dos ouvintes.
15 Be diligent to present yoʋrself to God as a proven worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly teaches the word of truth.
Procura apresentar-te aprovado a Deus[como] um trabalhador que não tem de que se envergonhar, que usa bem a palavra da verdade.
16 Avoid profane chatter, for those who engage in such talk will stray further and further into ungodliness,
Mas evita conversas profanas [e] inútes; pois tendem a produzir maior irreverência.
17 and their message will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,
E a palavra deles se espalhará como uma gangrena; entre os quais são Himeneu e Fileto.
18 who have strayed from the truth, saying that the resurrection has already happened. They are undermining the faith of some.
Esses se desviaram da verdade, dizendo que a ressurreição já aconteceu; e perverteram a fé de alguns.
19 Nevertheless, the foundation of God stands firm, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord must depart from unrighteousness.”
Porém o fundamento de Deus continua firme, e tem este selo: o Senhor conhece os que são seus, e que todo aquele que faz uso do nome do Senhor, se afaste da injustiça.
20 Now in a large house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for honorable use and some for dishonorable use.
Numa grande casa não há somente utensílios de ouro e de prata, mas também de madeira e de barro; e uns para honra, porém outros para desonra.
21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master, and prepared for every good work.
Portanto, se alguém se purificar destas coisas, será utensílio para honra, santificado e adequado para uso do Dono, [e] preparado para toda boa obra.
22 Flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faithfulness, love, and peace, along with those who call upon the Lord from a pure heart.
Foge também dos desejos da juventude; e segue a justiça, a fé, o amor, [e] a paz, com os que, de coração puro, invocam o Senhor.
23 Have nothing to do with foolish and ignorant controversies, knowing that they breed quarrels.
E rejeita as questões tolas e sem instrução, como sabes que elas produzem brigas.
24 A servant of the Lord ought not to quarrel, but to be kind to everyone, able to teach, and patient,
E ao servo do Senhor não convém brigar, mas sim ser manso com todos, apto para ensinar e suportar;
25 instructing his opponents with gentleness. Perhaps God will grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth.
deve instruir com mansidão aos que se opõem, pois talvez Deus lhes dê arrependimento para conhecerem a verdade;
26 Then they will come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.
e se libertem da armadilha do diabo, em que foram presos à vontade dele.
