Romans 2
1 There is therefore no excuse for thee, O man, that judgest thy neighbor; for by judging thy neighbor, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest, dost practise the same things.
Por isso, tu, que julgas, não tens desculpa; quem quer que sejas! Pois condenas a ti mesmo naquilo que julgas o outro, porque tu, que julgas, fazes as mesmas coisas.
2 And we know that the judgment of God is in accordance with truth, in regard to those who practise these things.
E sabemos que o julgamento de Deus é segundo a verdade sobre os que fazem tais coisas.
3 And what thinkest thou, O man, that judgest those who practise these things, while practising them thyself, that thou wilt escape the judgment of God?
E tu, humano, que julgas os que praticam tais coisas, ao fazê-las, pensas que escaparás do julgamento de Deus?
4 Or wilt thou abuse the riches of his benevolence, and his long suffering, and the opportunity which he giveth thee? And dost thou not know, that the benevolence of God should bring thee to repentance?
Ou desprezas tu as riquezas de sua bondade, tolerância, e paciência, ignorando que é a bondade de Deus que te conduz ao arrependimento?
5 But, because of the hardness of thy unrepenting heart, thou art treasuring up a store of wrath against the day of wrath, and against the revelation of the righteous judgment of God:
Mas, conforme a tua dureza e o teu coração que não se arrepende, tu ajuntas ira para ti no dia da ira e da manifestação do justo julgamento de Deus,
6 who will recompense to every man, according to his deeds;
que recompensará a cada um segundo as suas obras:
7 to them who, by perseverance in good works, seek for glory and honor and immortality, to them he will give life eternal; (aiōnios g166)
vida eterna aos que procuram glória, honra, e imortalidade, fazendo o bem com perseverança; (aiōnios g166)
8 but to them who are obstinate and obey not the truth, but obey iniquity, to them he will retribute wrath and ire.
mas ira e indignação aos que agem com egoísmo, obedecendo à injustiça, e não à verdade.
9 And tribulation and anguish will be to every man that doeth evil; to the Jews first, and also to the Gentiles:
Haverá aflição e angústia a toda pessoa que pratica o mal, primeiramente ao judeu, e também ao grego;
10 but glory and honor and peace to every one that doeth good; to the Jews first, and also to the Gentiles.
porém, glória, honra, e paz, a todo aquele que pratica o bem, primeiramente ao judeu, e também ao grego;
11 For there is no respect of persons with God:
porque com Deus não há acepção de pessoas.
12 for those without law, who sin, will also perish without law; and those under the law, who sin, will be judged by the law,
Pois todos os que sem Lei pecaram, sem Lei também perecerão; e todos os que pecaram sob a Lei, pela Lei serão julgados;
13 (for not the hearers of the law, are righteous before God; but the doers of the law are justified;
porque não são os que ouvem a Lei que são justos diante de Deus, mas sim, os que praticam a Lei que serão justificados.
14 for if Gentiles who have not the law, shall, by their nature, do the things of the law; they, while without the law, become a law to themselves:
Pois quando os gentios, que não têm a Lei, praticam naturalmente as coisas que são da Lei, estes, ainda que não tenham a Lei, são lei para si mesmos.
15 and they show the work of the law, as it is inscribed on their heart; and their conscience beareth testimony to them, their own reflections rebuking or vindicating one another, )
Eles mostram a obra da Lei escrita em seus corações, dando-lhes testemunho juntamente a sua consciência, e os pensamentos, ora acusando-os, ora defendendo-os.
16 in the day in which God will judge the secret actions of men, as my gospel teacheth, by Jesus the Messiah.
Isso acontecerá no dia em que Deus julgará os segredos dos seres humanos por meio de Cristo Jesus, conforme o meu Evangelho.
17 But if thou, who art called a Jew, and reposest thyself on the law, and gloriest in God,
Mas se tu és chamado de judeu, e descansas confiando na Lei, e te orgulhas em Deus,
18 that thou knowest his good pleasure, and discernest obligations, because thou art instructed in the law;
conheces a vontade [dele], e aprovas as melhores coisas, por seres instruído na lei;
19 and hast confidence in thyself, that thou art a guide to the blind, and a light to them who are in darkness,
e confias ser guia dos cegos, luz dos que estão nas trevas,
20 and an instructor of those lacking knowledge, and a preceptor to the young; and thou hast the appearance of knowledge and of verity in the law:
instrutor dos tolos, professor das crianças, e que consideras a lei como a forma do conhecimento e da verdade;
21 Thou therefore, who teachest others, teachest thou not thyself? And thou who teachest that men must not steal, dost thou steal?
tu, pois, que ensinas ao outro, não ensinas a ti mesmo? Tu que pregas que não se deve furtar, furtas?
22 And thou who sayest, Men must not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? And thou who contemnest idols, dost thou plunder the sanctuary?
Tu que dizes que não se deve adulterar, adulteras? Tu que odeias os ídolos, profanas templos?
23 And thou who gloriest in the law, dost thou, by acting contrary to the law, insult God himself?
Tu, que te orgulhas da Lei, pela transgressão da Lei desonras a Deus;
24 For, the name of God, as it is written, is reviled among the Gentiles on your account.
porque, como está escrito: “O nome de Deus é blasfemado entre os gentios por vossa causa”.
25 For circumcision profiteth, indeed, if thou fulfillest the law: but if thou departest from the law, thy circumcision becometh uncircumcision.
Pois a circuncisão tem proveito de fato se guardares a Lei; porém, se tu és transgressor da Lei, a tua circuncisão se torna incircuncisão.
26 And if uncircumcision should keep the precepts of the law, would not that uncircumcision be accounted as circumcision?
Ora, se o incircunciso obedecer às exigências da Lei, por acaso não será a sua incircuncisão considerada como circuncisão?
27 And the uncircumcision, which from its nature fulfilleth the law, will judge thee; who, with the scripture, and with circumcision, transgressest against the law.
E se o que de natureza é incircunciso cumprir a Lei, ele julgará a ti, que mesmo com a norma escrita e a circuncisão és transgressor da Lei.
28 For he is not a Jew, who is so in what is external: nor is that circumcision, which is visible in the flesh.
Pois judeu não é o de aparência externa, nem circuncisão é a na carne,
29 But he is a Jew, who is so in what is hidden: and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter, whose praise is not from men, but from God.
mas é judeu o que é no interior, e circuncisão é a de coração, no espírito, e não em uma norma escrita. Esse é elogiado não pelas pessoas, mas sim, por Deus.
