Romans 10
1 My Brethren, The desire of my heart, and my intercession with God for them, is, that they might have life.
Irmãos, o bom desejo do meu coração, e a oração que [faço] a Deus por eles, é que sejam salvos.
2 For I bear them witness, that there is in them a zeal for God; but it is not according to knowledge.
Pois lhes dou testemunho de que eles têm zelo por Deus, mas não com entendimento.
3 For they know not the righteousness of God, but seek to establish their own righteousness: and therefore they have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God.
Pois, como ignoraram a justiça de Deus, e procuraram estabelecer a sua própria justiça, eles não se sujeitaram à justiça de Deus.
4 For Messiah is the aim of the law, for righteousness, unto every one that believeth in him.
Porque o fim da Lei é Cristo, para justiça de todo aquele que crê.
5 For Moses describeth the righteousness, which is by the law, thus: Whoever shall do these things, shall live by them.
Pois Moisés descreve a justiça que é pela Lei: “A pessoa que praticar estas coisas viverá por elas”.
6 But the righteousness which is by faith, saith thus: Thou shalt not say in thy heart, Who ascendeth to heaven, and bringeth Messiah down?
Mas a justiça que é pela fé assim diz: “Não digas em teu coração: ‘Quem subirá ao céu?’ (Isto é, trazer Cristo abaixo),
7 Or, Who descendeth to the abyss of the grave, and bringeth up Messiah from the place of the dead? (Abyssos g12)
ou: ‘Quem descerá ao abismo?’” (Isto é, trazer Cristo dentre os mortos). (Abyssos g12)
8 But what saith it? The thing is near to thy mouth, and to thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we proclaim.
Porém, o que diz? “A palavra está perto de ti, na tua boca, e no teu coração”. Esta é a palavra da fé, que pregamos.
9 And if thou shalt confess with thy mouth our Lord Jesus, and shalt believe with thy heart, that God hath raised him from the dead; thou shalt live.
Pois, se com a tua boca declarares que Jesus é Senhor, e em teu coração creres que Deus o ressuscitou dos mortos, serás salvo.
10 For the heart that believeth in him, is justified; and the mouth that confesseth him, is restored to life.
Pois com o coração se crê para a justiça, e com a boca se confessa para a salvação.
11 For the scripture saith: Every one that believeth in him, shall not be ashamed.
Porque a Escritura diz: “Todo aquele que nele crê não será envergonhado.”
12 And in this, it discriminateth neither Jews nor Gentiles. For there is one Lord over them all, who is rich, towards every one that calleth on him.
Pois não há diferença entre judeu e grego, porque um mesmo é o Senhor de todos, rico para todos os que o invocam.
13 For every one that shall call on the name of the Lord, will have life.
Pois: “Todo aquele que invocar o nome do Senhor será salvo.”
14 How then shall they call on him, in whom they have not believed? Or, how shall they believe in him, of whom they have not heard? Or, how shall they hear, without a preacher?
Mas como invocarão aquele em quem não creram? E como crerão naquele de quem não ouviram? E como ouvirão, sem haver quem pregue?
15 Or, how shall they preach, if they are not sent forth? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of the heralds of peace, and of the heralds of good things?
E como pregarão, se não forem enviados? Como está escrito: “Como são agradáveis os pés dos que anunciam as boas novas!”
16 But all of them have not obeyed the proclamation of the gospel. (For, Isaiah said: My Lord, who hath believed our proclamation?)
Mas nem todos obedeceram ao evangelho, pois Isaías diz: “Senhor, quem creu na nossa pregação?”
17 Therefore, faith is from the hearing of the ear; and the hearing of the ear, is from the word of God.
Portanto, a fé [vem] pelo ouvir, e o ouvir pela palavra de Cristo.
18 But I say: Have they not heard? And, lo, their proclamation hath gone out into all the earth; and their words to the ends of the world.
Mas pergunto: por acaso não ouviram? Sim, certamente. [Pois: ] “Sua voz saiu por toda a terra, e suas palavras até os confins do mundo.”
19 But I say: Did not Israel know? First, Moses said, thus: I will awaken your emulation, by a people which is not a people; and by a disobedient people, I will provoke you.
Mas pergunto: por acaso Israel não entendeu? Primeiramente Moisés disse: “Eu vos provocarei ciúmes com os que não são do povo; com uma nação insensata vos provocarei à ira.”
20 And Isaiah was bold, and said: I was seen by those who sought me not; and I was found by those who inquired not for me.
E Isaías ousou dizer: “Fui achado pelos que não me buscavam; fui revelado aos que por mim não perguntavam.”
21 But to Israel, he said: All the day, have I stretched out my hands to a contentious and disobedient people.
Mas sobre Israel diz: “Todo o dia estendi as minhas mãos a um povo rebelde e hostil.”
