< Matthew 4 >

1 Then was Jesus led by the Holy Spirit into the desert, to be tempted by the Calumniator
Tad Jēzus no Tā Gara tapa aizvests tuksnesī, ka no velna taptu kārdināts.
2 And he fasted forty days and forty nights, and afterward he hungered.
3 And the Tempter came, and said to him: If thou art the Son of God, command these stones to become bread.
4 But he replied, and said: It is written, that not by bread only, doth man live; but by every word proceeding from the mouth of God.
5 Then the Calumniator took him to the holy city, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple,
Tad velns Viņu noveda sev līdz uz to svēto pilsētu un Viņu cēla pašā Dieva nama jumta galā.
6 and said to him: If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, that he will give his angels charge of thee, and in their hands will they sustain thee, lest thou strike thy foot against a stone.
7 Jesus said to him: It is moreover written, that thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Tad Jēzus uz to sacīja: “Atkal stāv rakstīts: “Dievu, savu Kungu, tev nebūs kārdināt.””
8 Again the Calumniator took him to a mountain that was very high, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory;
9 and said to him: All these will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
Un uz To sacīja: “To visu es Tev gribu dot, ja Tu zemē mezdamies mani pielūgsi.”
10 Then Jesus said to him: Begone, Satan; for it is written, that thou shalt worship the Lord, thy God; and him only shalt thou serve.
Tad Jēzus uz to sacīja: “Atkāpies, sātan! Jo stāv rakstīts: “Tev būs pielūgt Dievu, savu Kungu, un Viņam vien kalpot.””
11 Then the Calumniator left him: and lo, angels came, and ministered to him.
Tad velns Viņu atstāja. Un redzi, eņģeļi pie Viņa piestājās un Viņam kalpoja.
12 And when Jesus had heard that John was delivered up, he retired to Galilee.
13 And he left Nazareth, and came and dwelt in Capernaum, by the side of the sea, on the confines of Zebulon and Naphthali.
Un Nacareti atstājis, Viņš nāca un mājoja Kapernaūmā, jūrmalas pilsētā Zebulona un Naftalus robežās,
14 That so might be fulfilled that which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, who said:
Ka piepildītos, kas ir runāts caur pravieti Jesaju, kas tā saka:
15 The land of Zebulon, the land of Naphthali, the way of the sea, the ford of Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;
“Zebulona zeme un Naftalus zeme uz jūrmalas pusi, AizJardāne, pagānu Galileja,
16 the people that sat in darkness, have seen great light; and to them who sat in the region and shadow of death, light is arisen.
17 From that time began Jesus to proclaim and say: Repent; for the kingdom of heaven hath approached.
No tā laika Jēzus iesāka sludināt un sacīt: “Atgriežaties no grēkiem, jo Debesu valstība tuvu klāt nākusi.”
18 And as he walked on the shore of the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Cephas, and Andrew his brother, who were casting nets into the sea; for they were fishermen.
19 And Jesus said to them: Follow me; and I will cause you to become fishers of men.
20 And immediately, they left their nets, and went after him.
Un tūdaļ savus tīklus atstājuši, tie Viņam gāja pakaļ.
21 And as he passed on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, who were mending their nets. And Jesus called them.
Un no turienes tālāki gājis, Viņš ieraudzīja citus divus brāļus, Jēkabu, Cebedeja dēlu, un Jāni, viņa brāli, laivā ar savu tēvu Cebedeju savus tīklus lāpam, un Viņš tos sauca.
22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and went after him.
Tad tie tūdaļ to laivu un savu tēvu atstājuši, Viņam gāja pakaļ.
23 And Jesus traveled over all Galilee. and he taught in their synagogues and proclaimed the tidings of the kingdom; and he cured every disease and malady among the people.
Un Jēzus izstaigāja visu Galileju, mācīdams viņu baznīcās un sludinādams to priecas mācību no tās valstības un dziedinādams tiem ļaudīm visas slimības un visas vājības.
24 And his fame spread through all Syria. And they brought to him all them that were very sick with diverse diseases, and them that were afflicted with pains, and demoniacs, and lunatics and paralytics; and he healed them.
Un Viņa slava izpaudās pa visu Sīriju, un pie Viņa atnesa visus neveselus, no dažādām sērgām un sāpēm pārņemtus un velna apsēstus un mēnessērdzīgus un melmeņu sērdzīgus, un Viņš tos darīja veselus.
25 And there followed him great multitudes from Galilee, and from the Ten Cities, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond the Jordan.
Un daudz ļaužu Viņam gāja pakaļ no Galilejas un no tām desmit pilsētām un no Jeruzālemes un no Jūdu zemes un no viņpus Jardānes.
