1 Then was Jesus led by the Holy Spirit into the desert, to be tempted by the Calumniator
Mpawo Jesu wakazulwidwa a Muuya kuya munkanda kuti akasunkwe asimwaba.
2 And he fasted forty days and forty nights, and afterward he hungered.
Lino nakalyimya mazuba makumi aane amansiku ali makumi aane, wakaba enzala.
3 And the Tempter came, and said to him: If thou art the Son of God, command these stones to become bread.
Sikusunka wakasika akwamba kuti kulinguwe, “kuti koli mwana wa Leza, layilila mabwe aya kuti abe chinkwa.”
4 But he replied, and said: It is written, that not by bread only, doth man live; but by every word proceeding from the mouth of God.
Pesi Jesu wakasandula akwamba kuti kulinguwe, “Kulilembedwe kuti Muntu takoyopona achinkwa luzutu, pes ajwi lyoonse lizwa kumulomo wa Leza.”
5 Then the Calumniator took him to the holy city, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple,
Mpawo simwaba wakamutola kuchisi chisalala akumukkazika aatala ansonge yangánda ya Leza,
6 and said to him: If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, that he will give his angels charge of thee, and in their hands will they sustain thee, lest thou strike thy foot against a stone.
akwamba kuti kulinguwe, “Na koli mwana a Leza, liwalile aansi, nkambo kulilembedwe kuti uyolayilila bangelobakwe kuti bakubambe; alimwi, bayokubaka mumaanza abo, kuti utakalyumpuni abbwe.”
7 Jesus said to him: It is moreover written, that thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Jesu wakabambila kuti, “Alubo kulilembedwe kuti, utasunki Mwami Leza wako.”
8 Again the Calumniator took him to a mountain that was very high, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory;
Alubo simwaba wakamutola kukalundu kalamfu akumutondezya Bwami boonse bwanyika abulemu bwayo bonse.
9 and said to him: All these will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
Wakamwambila kuti, “zyonse zintu eezi ndiyokupa, kuti wandivundamina akundikomba.”
10 Then Jesus said to him: Begone, Satan; for it is written, that thou shalt worship the Lord, thy God; and him only shalt thou serve.
Mpawo Jesu wakamwambila kuti, zwaawa, siluuni! Nkambo kulilembedwe kuti, uyokomba Mwami Leza wako, akukutawukila nguwe luzutu.”
11 Then the Calumniator left him: and lo, angels came, and ministered to him.
Mpawo simwaba wakayinka, Amubone bangelo bakaza akumukutawukila.
12 And when Jesus had heard that John was delivered up, he retired to Galilee.
Lino Jesu nakamvwa kuti Joni wakaabwa wakazwa waya ku Galili.
13 And he left Nazareth, and came and dwelt in Capernaum, by the side of the sea, on the confines of Zebulon and Naphthali.
Wakazwa mu Nazaleta akwinka kuyokkala muKkapenawuma, ilikumbali lyalwizi lwa Galili mumasena a Zebbuluni a Nafutali.
14 That so might be fulfilled that which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, who said:
Eezi zyakachitika kuti kuzuzikizigwe zyakaambwa amusinsiimi Isaya kuti,
15 The land of Zebulon, the land of Naphthali, the way of the sea, the ford of Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;
“Chisi cha Zebbuluni achisi cha Nafutali kaziya kulwizi, luli kunembo lya Jolodani, Galili wabamasi!
16 the people that sat in darkness, have seen great light; and to them who sat in the region and shadow of death, light is arisen.
Bantu bakalikkede mumudima babona mumuuni mupati, akulibaabo bakalikkede muchilikiti amumwenzule walufu, alimbabo kwanyamuka mumuuni.”
17 From that time began Jesus to proclaim and say: Repent; for the kingdom of heaven hath approached.
Kuzwa kulecho chindi Jesu wakatalika kukambawuka akuti, “Amusanduke, nkambo Bwami bwakujulu bwasika afwifwi.”
18 And as he walked on the shore of the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Cephas, and Andrew his brother, who were casting nets into the sea; for they were fishermen.
Nakali kwenda ambali lyalwizi lwaGalili, wakabona bana bakwabo babili, Sayimoni utegwa Pita, a Endulo mukulana wakwe, bakali kuwala tuzamba mulwizi, nkambo bakali bazubi babaswi.
19 And Jesus said to them: Follow me; and I will cause you to become fishers of men.
Jesu wakati kulimbabo, “amuze, munditobele, alimwi ndiyomuchita kuba bazubi babantu.”
20 And immediately, they left their nets, and went after him.
Mpawawo bakasiya tuzamba bamutobela.
21 And as he passed on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, who were mending their nets. And Jesus called them.
Jesu nakali kuyabwenda kuzwa mpawawo wakabona bambi bana bakwabo babili, Jemusi mwana a Zebbedi, a Joni mukulanakwe. Bakali mubwato awisi Zebbedi kabali kusuma tuzamba twabo. Wakabayita,
22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and went after him.
Alimwi mpawawo bakasiya bwato awisi akumutobela.
23 And Jesus traveled over all Galilee. and he taught in their synagogues and proclaimed the tidings of the kingdom; and he cured every disease and malady among the people.
Jesu wakiinka mu Galili yoonse, kayobuyiisya muzikombelo, kakambawuka makani mabotu a Bwami akusilika misyobo yamalwazi amachise akali mubantu.
24 And his fame spread through all Syria. And they brought to him all them that were very sick with diverse diseases, and them that were afflicted with pains, and demoniacs, and lunatics and paralytics; and he healed them.
Impuwo atala anguwe yakamwayika mu Siliya yoonse, alimwi bantu bakeeta boonse bakali kuchiswa misyobo-misyobo yamalwazi amachise, abaabo bakanjidwemyuuya mibi, basimasuntu, abayuminide mibili, Jesu wakabasilika.
25 And there followed him great multitudes from Galilee, and from the Ten Cities, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond the Jordan.
Makamu makamu abantu akamutobela kuzwa kuGalili, Ba Dekkapolisi, Jelusalemu, aku Judiya, akuzwa kunembo lya Jolodani.
