Luke 3
1 And in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, in the presidency of Pontius Pilate in Judaea, while Herod was Tetrarch in Galilee, and Philip his brother Tetrarch in Ituraea and in the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias Tetrarch of Abilene,
১তিবিরিয় কৈসরের রাজত্বের পনেরো বছরে যখন পন্তীয় পীলাত যিহুদিয়ার শাসনকর্ত্তা, হেরোদ গালীলের রাজা, তাঁর ভাই ফিলিপ যিতূরিয়া ও ত্রাখোনীতিয়া অঞ্চলের রাজা এবং লূষানিয় অবিলীনির রাজা,
2 in the high priesthood of Annas and of Caiaphas; the word of God was upon John the son of Zachariah, in the wilderness.
২তখন হানন ও কায়াফার মহাযাজকদের দিন ঈশ্বরের এই বাণী মরূপ্রান্তে সখরিয়ের পুত্র যোহনের কাছে উপস্থিত হল।
3 And he came into all the region about the Jordan, proclaiming the baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
৩তাতে তিনি যর্দ্দনের কাছাকাছি সমস্ত অঞ্চলে গিয়ে পাপের ক্ষমা, মন পরিবর্তন এবং বাপ্তিষ্মের বিষয় প্রচার করতে লাগলেন।
4 As it is written in the book of the discourses of Isaiah the prophet, who said: The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord; and make straight paths in the plain for our God.
৪যেমন যিশাইয় ভাববাদীর পুস্তকে লেখা আছে, “মরূপ্রান্তরে এক জনের কন্ঠস্বর, সে ঘোষণা করছে, তোমরা প্রভুর পথ তৈরী কর, তাঁর রাজপথ সোজা কর।
5 All valleys shall be filled up, and all mountains and hills be lowered; and the hillock shall be levelled down, and the rough place become smooth.
৫প্রত্যেক উপত্যকা পরিপূর্ণ হবে, প্রত্যেক পর্বত ও উপপর্বত সমান করা হবে, এবড়ো খেবড়ো পথকে মসৃণ পথ করা হবে, যা কিছু আঁকা বাঁকা পথ, সে সমস্তই সোজা করা হবে,
6 And all flesh shall see the life which is of God.
৬এবং সমস্ত মানুষ ঈশ্বরের পরিত্রান দেখবে।”
7 And he said to the multitudes, who came to him to be baptized: Ye progeny of vipers, who hath instructed you to flee from the future wrath?
৭অতএব, যে সকল লোক তাঁর কাছে বাপ্তিষ্ম নিতে বের হয়ে আসল, তিনি তাদের বললেন, “হে বিষধর সাপের বংশরা, আগামী শাস্তির হাত থেকে পালাতে তোমাদেরকে কে সতর্ক করল?
8 Bring forth, therefore, fruits comporting, with repentance. And begin not to say in yourselves: We have Abraham for our father; for I say to you, that God can, from these stones, raise up sons to Abraham.
৮অতএব মন পরিবর্তনের উপযুক্ত ফলে ফলবান হও এবং নিজেদের মধ্যে বলতে আরম্ভ করো না যে, অব্রাহাম আমাদের পিতা; কারণ আমি তোমাদের বলছি, ঈশ্বর এসব পাথর থেকেও অব্রাহামের জন্য সন্তান উৎপন্ন করতে পারেন।
9 And lo, the ax is put to the root of trees. Every tree therefore that beareth not good fruits, is hewed down, and falleth into the fire.
৯আর এখন সমস্ত গাছের মূলে কুড়াল লাগান আছে; অতএব যে গাছে ভাল ফল ধরবে না, তা কেটে আগুনে ফেলে দেওয়া হবে।”
10 And the multitudes asked him, and said: What, then, shall we do?
১০তখন লোকেরা বাপ্তিষ্মদাতা যোহনকে জিজ্ঞাসা করল, “তবে আমাদের কি করতে হবে?”
11 He answered and said to them: Whoever hath two tunics, let him give one to him that hath none; and whoever hath food, let him do the same.
১১তিনি এর উত্তরে তাদেরকে বললেন, “যার দুটি জামা আছে, সে, যার নেই, তাকে একটি দিক; আর যার কাছে খাবার আছে, সেও তেমন করুক।”
12 And publicans also came to be baptized. And they said to him: Teacher, what shall we do?
১২আর কর আদায়কারীরাও বাপ্তিষ্ম নিতে আসল এবং তাঁকে বলল, “গুরু আমাদের কি করতে হবে?”
13 And he said to them: Exact no more than ye are required to exact.
১৩তিনি তাদের বললেন, “তোমাদের যতটা কর আদায় করতে আদেশ করা হয়েছে, তার বেশি কর আদায় করও না।”
14 And those serving in war inquired of him, and said: And what shall we do? He said to them: Be insolent to no one, and oppress no one, and let your pay satisfy you.
১৪আর সৈনিকেরাও তাঁকে জিজ্ঞাসা করল, “আমাদেরই বা কি করতে হবে?” তিনি তাদের বললেন, “কাউকে মিথ্যা দোষারোপ করো না, জোর করে কারোর থেকে টাকা নিওনা এবং তোমাদের বেতনে সন্তুষ্ট থাকো।”
15 And while the people were thinking of John, and all pondered in their heart, whether he were the Messiah;
১৫আর যেমন লোকেরা খ্রীষ্টের আসার জন্য অধীর আগ্রহে অপেক্ষায় ছিল এবং তাই যোহনের বিষয়ে সকলে নিজেদের মনে এই ভেবে আশ্চর্য্য হচ্ছিল, কি জানি, হয়ত ইনিই সেই খ্রীষ্ট,
16 John answered and said to them: Behold, I baptize you with water; but after me cometh one mightier than I, the strings of whose shoes I am not worthy to untie; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
১৬তখন যোহন তাদের বললেন, “আমি তোমাদেরকে জলে বাপ্তিষ্ম দিচ্ছি, কিন্তু এমন একজন আসছেন, যিনি আমার থেকেও শক্তিমান, যাঁর পায়ের জুতোর ফিতে খোলার যোগ্যতাও আমার নেই; তিনি তোমাদের পবিত্র আত্মা ও আগুনে বাপ্তিষ্ম দেবেন।
17 He holdeth his winnowing shovel in his hand, and he will make clean his threshing floor; and the wheat he gathereth into his garners, and the chaff he will burn with fire not extinguished.
১৭শস্য মাড়াইয়ের উঠোন পরিষ্কারের জন্য, তাঁর কুলো তাঁর হাতে আছে; তিনি যত্ন সহকারে বাছবেন ও গম নিজের গোলায় সংগ্রহ করবেন, কিন্তু তুষ যে আগুন কখনো নেভে না তাতে পুড়িয়ে ফেলবেন।”
18 And many other things also, he taught and proclaimed to the people.
১৮আরও অনেক উপদেশ দিয়ে যোহন লোকেদের কাছে সুসমাচার প্রচার করতেন।
19 But Herod the Tetrarch, because he was reproved by John, on account of Herodias the wife of his brother Philip, and on account of all the evil things he had done,
১৯কিন্তু হেরোদ রাজা নিজের ভাইয়ের স্ত্রী হেরোদিয়াকে বিয়ে করার ও অন্যান্য দুষ্কর্ম করার জন্য বাপ্তিষ্মদাতা যোহন তাঁর নিন্দা করলেন,
20 added this also to them all, that he shut up John in prison.
২০তাই তিনি যোহনকে জেলে বন্দি করলেন।
21 And it occurred, when all the people were baptized, that Jesus also was baptized. And as he prayed, the heavens were opened;
২১আর যখন সমস্ত লোক যোহনের কাছে বাপ্তিষ্ম নিচ্ছিল, তখন যীশুও বাপ্তিষ্ম গ্রহণ করে প্রার্থনা করছিলেন, এমন দিনের স্বর্গ খুলে গেল
22 and the Holy Spirit descended upon him, in the bodily likeness of a dove: and there was a voice from heaven, which said: Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I have delight.
২২এবং পবিত্র আত্মা পায়রার আকারে, তাঁর উপরে নেমে এলেন, আর স্বর্গ থেকে এই বাণী হলো, “তুমি আমার প্রিয় পুত্র, তোমাতেই আমি প্রীত।”
23 And Jesus was about thirty years old. And he was accounted the son of Joseph, the son of Heli,
২৩আর যীশু নিজে, যখন কাজ করতে আরম্ভ করেন, তখন তাঁর বয়স প্রায় ত্রিশ বছর ছিল, তিনি (যেমন মনে করা হত) যোষেফের পুত্র, ইনি এলির পুত্র,
24 the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Janna, the son of Joseph,
২৪ইনি মত্ততের পুত্র, ইনি লেবির পুত্র, ইনি মল্কির পুত্র, ইনি যান্নায়ের পুত্র, ইনি যোষেফের পুত্র,
25 the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos, the son of Nahum, the son of Esli, the son of Naggai,
২৫ইনি মত্তথিয়ের পুত্র, ইনি আমোসের পুত্র, ইনি নহুমের পুত্র, ইনি ইষলির পুত্র,
26 the son of Maath, the son of Mattathias, the son of Shimei, the son of Joseph, the son of Judah,
২৬ইনি নগির পুত্র, ইনি মাটের পুত্র, ইনি মত্তথিয়ের পুত্র, ইনি শিমিয়ির পুত্র, ইনি যোষেখের পুত্র,
27 the son of Joanna, the son of Rhesa, the son of Zorubbabel, the son of Salathiel, the son of Neri,
২৭ইনি যূদার পুত্র, ইনি যোহানার পুত্র, ইনি রীষার পুত্র, ইনি সরুব্বাবিলের পুত্র, ইনি শল্টীয়েলের পুত্র,
28 the son of Melchi, the son of Addi, the son of Cosam, the son of Elmodam, the son of Er,
২৮ইনি নেরির পুত্র, ইনি মল্কির পুত্র, ইনি অদ্দীর পুত্র, ইনি কোষমের পুত্র, ইনি ইলমাদমের পুত্র,
29 the son of Joses, the son of Eliezer, the son of Joram, the son of Matthat, the son of Levi,
২৯ইনি এরের পুত্র, ইনি যিহোশূয়ের পুত্র, ইনি ইলীয়েষরের পুত্র, ইনি যোরীমের পুত্র, ইনি মত্ততের পুত্র,
30 the son of Simeon, the son of Judah, the son of Joseph, the son of Jonam, the son of Eliakim,
৩০ইনি লেবির পুত্র, ইনি শিমিয়োনের পুত্র, ইনি যিহূদার পুত্র, ইনি যোষেফের পুত্র, ইনি যোনমের পুত্র,
31 the son of Melcah, the son of Mainan, the son of Mattatha, the son of Nathan, the son of David,

35 the son of Serug, the son of Reu, the son of Peleg, the son of Eber, the son of Salah,

36 the son of Cainan, the son of Arphaxad, the son of Shem, the son of Noah, the son of Lamech,

37 the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mehalaleel, the son of Cainan,
৩৭ইনি মথূশেলহের পুত্র, ইনি হনোকের পুত্র, ইনি যেরদের পুত্র, ইনি মহললেলের পুত্র, ইনি কৈননের পুত্র,
38 the son of Enos, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.
৩৮ইনি ইনোশের পুত্র, ইনি শেথের পুত্র, ইনি আদমের পুত্র, ইনি ঈশ্বরের পুত্র।
