Luke 23
1 And the whole company of them arose, and carried him before Pilate.
೧ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಡಿದ್ದವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಎದ್ದು ಆತನನ್ನು ಪಿಲಾತನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ,
2 And they began to accuse him, and said: We have found this man seducing our people, and forbidding to pay the capitation money to Caesar, and declaring himself to be king Messiah.
೨“ಇವನು ತಾನೇ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನು, ಅರಸನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾ, ಕೈಸರನಿಗೆ ಸುಂಕ ಕೊಡಬಾರದೆಂದು ಬೋಧಿಸುತ್ತಾ, ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದವರ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಕೆಡಿಸುವುದನ್ನು ನಾವು ಕಂಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ” ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಆತನ ಮೇಲೆ ದೂರು ಹೇಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ತೊಡಗಿದರು.
3 And Pilate interrogated him, and said to him: Art thou king of the Jews? He said to him: Thou hast said.
೩ಪಿಲಾತನು ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು “ನೀನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಅರಸನೋ” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು, ಆತನು, “ನೀನೇ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೀ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
4 And Pilate said to the chief priests and the company: I find no crime upon this man.
೪ಪಿಲಾತನು ಮುಖ್ಯಯಾಜಕರಿಗೂ, ಜನರ ಗುಂಪಿಗೂ, “ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಯಾವ ಅಪರಾಧವೂ ಕಾಣಿಸುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು” ಹೇಳಿದನು.
5 And they vociferated, and said: He raiseth disturbance among our people, by teaching in all Judaea, commencing from Galilee, and quite to this place.
೫ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು, “ಗಲಿಲಾಯದಿಂದ ಮೊದಲುಗೊಂಡು ಇಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗೂ ಯೂದಾಯ ಸೀಮೆಯಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಇವನು ಬೋಧನೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಜನರ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಕದಲಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ” ಎಂದು ಇನ್ನೂ ಒತ್ತಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
6 And Pilate, when he heard the name Galilee, inquired if the man were a Galilean.
೬ಇದನ್ನು ಪಿಲಾತನು ಕೇಳಿ, ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಗಲಿಲಾಯದವನೋ ಎಂದು ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿ,
7 And having learned that he was from under Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod; for he was at Jerusalem on those days.
೭ಈತನು ಹೆರೋದನ ಅಧಿಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಪಟ್ಟವನು ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಹೆರೋದನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಹೆರೋದನು ಆ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲೇ ಇದ್ದನು.
8 And Herod rejoiced greatly when he saw Jesus, for he had been desirous to see him for a long time, because he had heard many things of him, and he hoped to see some sign from him.
೮ಹೆರೋದನು ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಬಹಳ ಸಂತೋಷಪಟ್ಟನು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಆತನ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಅನೇಕ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆತನನ್ನು ಕಾಣಬೇಕೆಂದು ಬಹು ಕಾಲದಿಂದ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸಿದ್ದನು. ಆತನಿಂದ ಯಾವುದಾದರೂ ಒಂದು ಸೂಚಕ ಕಾರ್ಯವಾಗುವುದನ್ನು ನೋಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದನು.
9 And he asked him many questions; but Jesus gave him no reply.
೯ಹೆರೋದನು ಅನೇಕ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಂದ ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ್ಯೂ ಆತನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಏನೂ ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಡಲಿಲ್ಲ.
10 And the chief priests and Scribes stood up, and accused him vehemently.
೧೦ಮುಖ್ಯಯಾಜಕರೂ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಿಗಳೂ ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡು ಆತನ ಕುರಿತು ಬಹು ತೀವ್ರವಾಗಿ ಆರೋಪಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
11 And Herod and his warriors contemned him. And when he had mocked him, he clothed him in a purple robe, and sent him to Pilate.
೧೧ಕಡೆಗೆ ಹೆರೋದನು ತನ್ನ ಸಿಪಾಯಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಅವಮಾನಗೊಳಿಸಿ, ಅಪಹಾಸ್ಯ ಮಾಡಿ ಶೋಭಾಯಮಾನವಾದ ಉಡುಪನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿಸಿ ಪಿಲಾತನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
12 And on that day, Pilate and Herod became friends to each other; for there had previously been enmity between them.
೧೨ಅದೇ ದಿನ ಹೆರೋದನು ಪಿಲಾತನೂ ಒಬ್ಬರಿಗೊಬ್ಬರು ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರಾದರು. ಅದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮೊದಲು ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರೂ ವೈರಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
13 And Pilate called the chief priests and the rulers of the people,
೧೩ತರುವಾಯ ಪಿಲಾತನು ಮುಖ್ಯಯಾಜಕರನ್ನೂ, ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಪ್ರಜೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಕರೆಯಿಸಿ,
14 and said to them: Ye have brought this man before me, as a disturber of your people; and lo, I have examined him before you, and I find in the man no crime, among all that ye charge upon him.
೧೪ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಪ್ರಜೆಗಳನ್ನು ತಿರಿಗಿ ಬೀಳುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುವವನು ಎಂದು ಈತನನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕರೆತಂದಿರಲ್ಲಾ. ನೀವು ಈತನ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ದೂರುಗಳ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆಯೇ ವಿಚಾರಣೆ ಮಾಡಿದರೂ ಈತನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ತಪ್ಪಾದರೂ ನನಗೆ ಕಾಣಲಿಲ್ಲ.
15 Neither yet Herod: for I sent him to him, and lo, nothing deserving death hath been done by him.
೧೫ಹೆರೋದನಿಗೂ ಸಹ ಕಾಣಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದಕಾರಣ ಈತನನ್ನು ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನಲ್ಲಾ. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಈತನು ಮರಣದಂಡನೆಗೆ ಯೋಗ್ಯವಾದದ್ದೇನೂ ಮಾಡಿದವನಲ್ಲವೆಂದಾಯಿತು.
16 I will therefore chastise him, and release him.
೧೬ಆದುದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಈತನನ್ನು ಹೊಡಿಸಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಬಿಡುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
17 For it was a custom, that he should release one at the festival.
೧೭(ಪ್ರತಿ ಪಸ್ಕ ಹಬ್ಬದ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಿಲಾತನು ಒಬ್ಬ ಸೆರೆಯಾಳನ್ನು ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡುವ ರೂಢಿಯಿತ್ತು.)
18 And all the company vociferated, and said: Away with this man; and release to us Barabbas.
೧೮ಆದರೆ ಅವರು, “ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲಿಸು, ನಮಗೆ ಬರಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಡು” ಎಂದು ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಕೂಗಿಕೊಂಡರು.
19 He was one who had been thrown into prison, on account of a sedition and murder which had occurred in the city.
೧೯ಈ ಬರಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಒಂದು ದಂಗೆಯ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವಾಗಿಯೂ ಕೊಲೆಯ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವಾಗಿಯೂ ಸೆರೆಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕಿದ್ದರು.
20 And Pilate, being disposed to release Jesus, conversed with them again.
೨೦ಪಿಲಾತನು ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಮನಸ್ಸುಳ್ಳವನಾಗಿದ್ದು ಪುನಃ ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದನು.
21 But they cried out, and said: Crucify him; crucify him.
೨೧ಆದರೆ ಅವರು, “ಅವನನ್ನು ಶಿಲುಬೆಗೆ ಹಾಕಿಸು, ಶಿಲುಬೆಗೆ ಹಾಕಿಸು” ಎಂದು ಕೂಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
22 And he said to them the third time: But, what evil hath he done? I find no crime in him deserving of death. I will scourge him, therefore, and release him.
೨೨ಅವನು ಮೂರನೆಯ ಸಾರಿ, “ಯಾಕೆ? ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದೇನು ಮಾಡಿದನು? ನಾನು ಇವನಲ್ಲಿ ಮರಣದಂಡನೆಗೆ ತಕ್ಕ ಅಪರಾಧವೇನೂ ಕಾಣಲಿಲ್ಲ ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಇವನನ್ನು ಹೊಡಿಸಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಡುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು.
23 But they were urgent, with a loud voice; and demanded of him, that they might crucify him.
೨೩ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ಜೋರಾಗಿ ಕೂಗುತ್ತಾ, ಅವನನ್ನು ಶಿಲುಬೆಗೆ ಹಾಕಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಲವಂತ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಅವರ ಕೂಗಾಟವು ಗೆದ್ದಿತು.
24 And Pilate decreed, that their request be granted.
೨೪ಆಗ ಪಿಲಾತನು, ಅವರು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಂಡಂತೆ ಆಗಲಿ ಎಂದು ನಿರ್ಣಯಿಸಿ,
25 And he released to them him, who for sedition and murder had been cast into prison, for whom they petitioned; and he delivered up Jesus to their pleasure.
೨೫ದಂಗೆ ಕೊಲೆಗಳ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವಾಗಿ ಸೆರೆಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದ ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ಅವರು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಬಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಟ್ಟು, ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಅವರ ಚಿತ್ತಾನುಸಾರ ದಂಡಿಸಲು ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿದನು.
26 And as they led him away, they seized Simon the Cyrenian, coming from the fields. and laid upon him the cross, to bear it after Jesus.
೨೬ಅವರು ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಹೊಲದಿಂದ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದ, ಕುರೇನೆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಸೀಮೋನನೆಂಬುವನನ್ನು ಕರೆದು, ಶಿಲುಬೆಯನ್ನು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೊರಿಸಿ ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೊತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ಬರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
27 And there followed after him a great multitude of people; and those women also who wailed and lamented over him.
೨೭ಜನರ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಗುಂಪು ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೊರಟಿತು. ಆ ಗುಂಪಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವು ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರು ಎದೆಬಡಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಯೇಸುವಿಗಾಗಿ ಗೋಳಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದರು.
28 And Jesus turned to them, and said to them: Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me; but weep rather for yourselves, and for your children.
೨೮ಯೇಸು ಅವರ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು, “ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರೇ ನನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಅಳಬೇಡಿರಿ, ನಿಮಗೋಸ್ಕರವೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರವೂ ಅಳಿರಿ.
29 For lo, the days are coming, in which they will say: Happy the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never nursed.
೨೯ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ‘ಬಂಜೆಯರೂ, ಬಸುರಾಗದವರೂ, ಮೊಲೆಕುಡಿಸದವರೂ ಧನ್ಯರು’ ಎಂದು ಜನರು ಹೇಳುವ ದಿನಗಳು ಬರುತ್ತವೆ.
30 Then will they begin to say to the mountains, Fall upon us! and to the hills, Cover us!
೩೦ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನರು, ‘ಬೆಟ್ಟಗಳೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೀಳಿರಿ. ಗುಡ್ಡಗಳೇ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ’ ಅನ್ನುವರು.
31 For if they do these things in a green tree, what will be in the dry?
೩೧ಹಸಿ ಮರಕ್ಕೆ ಇಷ್ಟೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಒಣ ಮರದ ಗತಿ ಏನಾಗಬಹುದು?” ಅಂದನು.
32 And there went along with him two others, malefactors, to be crucified.
೩೨ಆತನ ಸಂಗಡ ಶಿಲುಬೇಗೆರಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ದುಷ್ಕರ್ಮಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದ ಬೇರೆ ಇಬ್ಬರನ್ನೂ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದರು.
33 And when they came to a certain place which is called a Skull, they crucified him there; and the two malefactors, the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.
೩೩ಅವರು ಕಪಾಲವೆಂಬ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಯೇಸುವನ್ನೂ ದುಷ್ಕರ್ಮಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಶಿಲುಬೆಗೆ ಹಾಕಿದರು. ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಬಲಗಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಎಡಗಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಹಾಕಿದರು.
34 And Jesus said: Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they divided his garments, casting a lot upon them.
೩೪ಆಗ ಯೇಸು, “ತಂದೆಯೇ, ಅವರನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಮಿಸು ತಾವು ಏನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆಂಬುದನ್ನು ಅವರು ಅರಿಯರು” ಅಂದನು. ಆ ಮೇಲೆ ಚೀಟು ಹಾಕಿ ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪಾಲು ಮಾಡಿದರು.
35 And the people stood and looked on; and the rulers also derided him, and said: He quickened others; let him quicken himself, if he is the Messiah, the chosen of God.
೩೫ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ನೋಡುತ್ತಾ ನಿಂತರು. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು “ಅವನು ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬರನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದನು, ಅವನು ದೇವರು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನೇ ಆಗಿದ್ದರೆ ತನ್ನನ್ನು ತಾನೇ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಗೇಲಿಮಾಡಿದರು.
36 And the soldiers like wise mocked him, coming to him and offering him vinegar,
೩೬ಸಿಪಾಯಿಗಳೂ ಆತನನ್ನು ಪರಿಹಾಸ್ಯ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಅವರು ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬಂದು ಹುಳಿಮದ್ಯವನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ,
37 and saying to him: If thou art the king of the Jews, quicken thyself.
೩೭“ನೀನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಅರಸನಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನೀನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿಕೋ” ಅಂದರು.
38 And there was likewise a superscription over him, written in Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
೩೮ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಆತನ ಶಿಲುಬೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ “ಇವನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಅರಸನು” ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಲಿಖಿತವಾದ ಸೂಚನೆಯನ್ನು ಹಾಕಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.
39 And one of the malefactors who were crucified with him, reproached him, and said: If thou art the Messiah, rescue thyself, and rescue us.
೩೯ಶಿಲುಬೇಗೆರಿಸಿದ್ದ ಆ ದುಷ್ಕರ್ಮಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನು ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ದೂಷಿಸುತ್ತಾ, “ನೀನು ಬರಬೇಕಾದ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನಲ್ಲವೇ? ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿಕೋ, ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
40 But his fellow Malefactor rebuked him, said to him: Art thou not afraid even of God, seeing thou art under the same sentence?
೪೦ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಎರಡನೆಯವನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಗದರಿಸಿ, “ನೀನು ಇದೇ ದಂಡನೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವಾಗಲೂ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಹೆದರುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೋ?
41 And we justly; for we have a retribution according to our deserts, and according to our deeds; but nothing hateful hath been done by him.
೪೧ನಾವಂತೂ ನ್ಯಾಯವಾಗಿ ದಂಡನೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೇವೆ, ನಾವು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕ ಪ್ರತಿಫಲವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಈತನಾದರೋ ಅಂತಹದ್ದೇನನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಲಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ,
42 And he said to Jesus: My Lord, remember me, when thou comest into thy kingdom.
೪೨“ಯೇಸುವೇ ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದವನಾಗಿ ಬರುವಾಗ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೋ” ಅಂದನು.
43 Jesus said to him: Verily I say to you, That this day thou shalt be with me in paradise.
೪೩ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೇಸು, “ಈ ಹೊತ್ತೇ ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಪರದೈಸಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವಿ ಎಂದು ನಿನಗೆ ಸತ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
44 And it was about the sixth hour; and darkness was over all the land, until the ninth hour.
೪೪ಇಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು ನಡುಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನವಾಯಿತು. ಸೂರ್ಯನು ಕಾಂತಿಗುಂದಿ, ಮೂರು ಘಂಟೆಯ ತನಕ ಆ ದೇಶದ ಮೇಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕತ್ತಲೆ ಕವಿಯಿತು. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಪರದೆಯು ನಡುವೆ ಹರಿದು ಹೋಯಿತು.
45 And the sun was darkened, and the curtain of the door of the temple was rent through its middle.

46 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and said: My Father, into thy hand I commit my spirit. Thus he spake, and expired.
೪೬ಆ ಮೇಲೆ ಯೇಸು, “ತಂದೆಯೇ, ನನ್ನ ಆತ್ಮವನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಮಹಾಧ್ವನಿಯಿಂದ ಕೂಗಿದನು. ಇದನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಪ್ರಾಣಬಿಟ್ಟನು.
47 And when the centurion saw what occurred, he glorified God and said: Certainly, this was a righteous man.
೪೭ಶತಾಧಿಪತಿಯು ನಡೆದ ಸಂಗತಿಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ, “ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ನಿಜವಾಗಲೂ ನೀತಿವಂತನೇ” ಆಗಿದ್ದನು ಎಂದು ದೇವರನ್ನು ಕೊಂಡಾಡಿದನು.
48 And all the multitudes who had assembled at this spectacle, on seeing what occurred, returned, smiting upon their breasts.
೪೮ಇದನ್ನು ನೋಡಲು ಸೇರಿ ಬಂದಿದ್ದ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರು ನಡೆದ ಘಟನೆಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಎದೆಬಡಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಹೋದರು.
49 And there were standing at a distance, all they that knew Jesus, and those women who came with him from Galilee; and they beheld these things.
೪೯ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಆತನ ಪರಿಚಿತರೆಲ್ಲರೂ, ಗಲಿಲಾಯದಿಂದ ಆತನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರೂ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು ಈ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
50 And there was a certain man, whose name was Joseph, a counsellor, from Ramath a city of Judaea, who was a good man and righteous;
೫೦ಅರಿಮಥಾಯ ಎಂಬ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರದೊಂದು ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನ ಹೆಸರು ಯೋಸೇಫನ. ಆತನು ಹಿರೀಸಭೆಯವನು, ಉತ್ತಮನು, ಸತ್ಪುರುಷನು ಹಾಗೂ ದೇವರ ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ಎದುರು ನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದವನೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದನಲ್ಲದೆ ಮಂತ್ರಿಯೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನು ಹಿರೀಸಭೆಯವರ ಆಲೋಚನೆಗೂ ಕೃತ್ಯಗಳಿಗೂ ಅನುಮತಿಸಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
51 and he had not consented to their decision and deed; and he was waiting for the kingdom of God.

52 This man went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
೫೨ಅವನು ಪಿಲಾತನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಯೇಸುವಿನ ದೇಹವನ್ನು ತನಗೆ ಕೊಡಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡು,
53 And he took it down, and wrapped it in a winding-sheet of linen; and laid it in an excavated sepulchre, in which no one had hitherto been laid.
೫೩ಅದನ್ನು ಇಳಿಸಿ ನಾರುಮಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸುತ್ತಿ, ಬಂಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೋಡಿದ್ದ ಸಮಾಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟನು. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಅದುವರೆಗೆ ಯಾರನ್ನು ಇಟ್ಟಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
54 And it was the day of preparation, and the sabbath began to dawn.
೫೪ಆ ದಿನವು ಸಿದ್ಧತೆಯ ದಿನವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಮತ್ತು ಸಬ್ಬತ್ ದಿನ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಹೊತ್ತು ಮಾತ್ರ ಇತ್ತು.
55 And those women who came with him from Galilee, approached, and viewed the sepulchre, and the manner in which the body was deposited.
೫೫ಹೀಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ಗಲಿಲಾಯದಿಂದ ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಸಂಗಡ ಬಂದಿದ್ದ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರು, ಯೋಸೇಫನ ಹಿಂದೆಯೇ ಹೋಗಿ ಆ ಸಮಾಧಿಯನ್ನೂ, ಯೇಸುವಿನ ದೇಹವನ್ನಿಟ್ಟ ರೀತಿಯನ್ನೂ ನೋಡಿ,
56 And they returned, and prepared perfumes and aromatics; and they rested on the sabbath, as it is commanded.
೫೬ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಬಂದು ಪರಿಮಳದ್ರವ್ಯಗಳನ್ನೂ ಸುಗಂಧ ತೈಲವನ್ನೂ ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರು ಸಬ್ಬತ್ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಧರ್ಮನಿಯಮದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ವಿಶ್ರಮಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು.
