< Jude 1 >

1 JUDE, a servant of Jesus the Messiah, and the brother of James, to the called people, the beloved of God the Father, the preserved by Jesus the Messiah:
Jude, a bondman of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to the called, sanctified in God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ:
2 Mercy and peace in love, be multiplied to you.
Mercy to you and peace and love be multiplied.
3 My beloved, while I take all pains to write to you of our common life, it is needful for me to write to you, exhorting you to maintain a conflict for the faith which was once delivered to the saints.
Beloved, making all diligence to write to you about the common salvation, I had need to write to you exhorting you to earnestly contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the sanctified.
4 For some have obtained entrance, who from the beginning were registered beforehand under this condemnation: wicked men, who pervert the grace of God to impurity, and deny him who is the only Lord God and our Lord, Jesus the Messiah.
For certain men have sneaked in, those written about formerly for this condemnation, irreverent men, perverting the grace of our God into licentiousness, and denying our only Master God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
5 And I wish to remind you, though ye all know it, that God, after once rescuing the people from Egypt, again destroyed them who believed not.
Now I want to remind you, ye having known this once, that the Lord, having saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.
6 And the angels that kept not their primacy, but left their station, he hath reserved in chains unknown, under darkness, unto the judgment of the great day. (aïdios g126)
And the agents who did not keep their own principality, but left their own habitation, he has kept reserved in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day. (aïdios g126)
7 As Sodom and Gomorrah, and the surrounding cities, which in like manner followed whoredom and went after strange flesh, are placed beneath everlasting fire, being, doomed to judgment. (aiōnios g166)
As Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them, the same kind of way with these who indulged in fornication, and who went rear of queer flesh, are set forth an example, undergoing the punishment of eternal fire. (aiōnios g166)
8 In the same manner, too, these sensual dreamers defile the flesh and despise authority, and revile excellency.
Nevertheless in the same way also these men who dream, indeed defile flesh, and reject lordship, and speak evil of dignities.
9 But Michael the archangel, who, in debate with the Accuser, contended about the body of Moses, did not venture to bring against him a reviling declaration; but said, The Lord will rebuke thee.
But Michael the arch-agent, when he disputed with the devil, contending about the body of Moses, dared not bring a railing judgment, but said, May the Lord rebuke thee.
10 But these men revile things which they do not understand; and in the things of which they have a natural persuasion as animal beings, in these they corrupt themselves.
But these men indeed revile whatever they have not seen. But whatever they understand naturally, as the irrational beasts, in these things they are corrupted.
11 Woe to them; for they have gone in the way of Cain; and, after the error of Balaam, they have lusted for gain; and, in the rebellion of Korah, they have perished.
Woe to them! Because they went in the way of Cain, and rushed to the error of Balaam's reward, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.
12 These are they who, in their feastings, riot while polluting themselves, feeding themselves without fear; clouds without rain, moved about by the winds; trees whose fruit hath failed, and they are without fruit, twice dead, and uplifted from their root;
These are reefs in your love-feasts, feasting together, fearlessly tending to themselves, waterless clouds carried along by winds, autumn trees without fruit, who died twice having being uprooted,
13 raging waves of the sea, which, by their foam, manifest their confusion; shootingstars, for which is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. (aiōn g165)
wild waves of the sea foaming out their own shame, wandering stars for whom the gloom of darkness has been reserved into an age. (aiōn g165)
14 And of them also prophesied Enoch, who was the seventh from Adam, when he said: Behold, the Lord cometh, with myriads of his saints;
And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men, saying, Behold, the Lord came with his holy myriads,
15 to execute judgment upon all; and to convict all the wicked, because of all the deeds they have wickedly committed; and because of all the hard speeches, which they, ungodly sinners, have uttered.
to execute judgment against all, and to convict all the irreverent of them about all the works of their own irreverence that they have done irreverently, and about all the harsh things that irreverent sinners spoke against him.
16 These are they who murmur and complain of every thing, while they walk according to their lusts; and their mouth speaketh shocking things; and they flatter people, for the sake of gain.
These are grumblers, fault-finders, going according to their lusts, and their mouth speaks overblown things, marveling personages for the sake of advantage.
17 But do ye, my beloved, remember the words which were before spoken by the legates of our Lord Jesus the Messiah;
But ye, beloved, remember the sayings previously spoken by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ,
18 because they told you, that in the end of the times there would be scoffers, going after wickedness, according to their lusts.
that they told you that there will be scoffers during the last time, going according to their own desires of irreverences.
19 These are they that separate themselves, sensual persons, not having the Spirit.
These are those who make divisions, world-soul men, not having Spirit.
20 But, my beloved, be ye built up anew, in your holy faith, through the Holy Spirit, while ye pray.
But ye beloved, building up yourselves in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,
21 And let us keep ourselves in the love of God, while we wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus the Messiah unto our eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
keep yourselves in the love of God, awaiting the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
22 And some of them, snatch ye from the fire.
And on some be ye merciful-being discerning.
23 And when they repent, have compassion on them, with fear, hating even the tunic that is defiled by the flesh.
And in fear save some, snatching them out of the fire, hating even the garment that was stained by the flesh.
24 And to him who is able to preserve you faultless, and spotless, and to establish you without a blemish,
Now to him who is able to keep them non-stumbling, and to present before his glory, unblemished in gladness,
25 before his majesty, with joy, namely, the only God, our Deliverer, by means of Jesus the Messiah our Lord, be praise, and dominion, and honor, and majesty, both now and in all ages. Amen. (aiōn g165)
to the only wise God our Savior, is glory, majesty, dominion and power, both now and into all the ages. Truly. (aiōn g165)
