John 6
1 After these things, Jesus went to the other side of the sea of Galilee or of Tiberias.
Depois disto Jesus partiu para a outro lado do mar da Galileia, que é o de Tibérias.
2 And great multitudes went after him; because they had seen the signs which he wrought upon the sick.
E uma grande multidão o seguia, porque viam seus sinais que ele fazia nos enfermos.
3 And Jesus ascended a mountain, and there he seated himself with his disciples.
E subiu Jesus ao monte, e sentou-se ali com seus discípulos.
4 And the feast of the Jewish passover was near.
E já a Páscoa, a festa dos judeus, estava perto.
5 And Jesus raised his eyes, and saw a great multitude coming towards him; and he said to Philip: Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?
Levantando pois Jesus os olhos, e vendo que uma grande multidão vinha a ele, disse a Filipe: De onde comparemos pães, para que estes comam?
6 And this he said, to try him; for he knew what he was about to do.
(Mas ele disse isto para o testar; pois ele bem sabia o que havia de fazer.)
7 Philip said to him: Two hundred denarii in bread would not suffice them, that each might take but a little.
Respondeu-lhe Filipe: Duzentos dinheiros de pão não lhes bastarão, para que cada um deles tome um pouco.
8 One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Cephas, said to him:
Disse-lhe um de seus discípulos, André, o irmão de Simão Pedro:
9 There is a lad here, who hath with him five cakes of barley, and two fishes; but what are these for all those people?
Um menino está aqui que tem cinco pães de cevada e dois peixinhos; mas que é isto entre tantos?
10 Jesus said to them: Make all the people recline. Now there was much grass in that place: and the people reclined, in number five thousand.
E disse Jesus: Fazei sentar as pessoas; e havia muita erva naquele lugar. Sentaram-se, pois, os homens, em número de cinco mil.
11 And Jesus took the bread, and blessed, and distributed to them that reclined. And so also, with the fish; as much as they desired.
E tomou Jesus os pães, e havendo dado graças, repartiu-os aos discípulos, e os discípulos aos que estavam sentados, semelhantemente também dos peixes, quanto queriam.
12 And when they were satisfied, he said to his disciples: Gather up the fragments which remain, that nothing be lost.
E quando já estiveram fartos, disse ele a seus discípulos: Recolhei os pedaços que sobraram, para que nada se perca.
13 And they collected and filled twelve baskets, with fragments of what remained to them that had eaten of the five barley cakes.
Então eles os recolheram, e encheram doze cestos de pedaços dos cinco pães de cevada, que sobraram aos que tinham comido.
14 And those people, when they saw the sign which Jesus had wrought, said: Certainly, this is that prophet who was to come into the world.
Vendo, pois, aquelas pessoas o sinal que Jesus fizera, disseram: Este é verdadeiramente o Profeta que havia de vir ao mundo!
15 And Jesus knew, that they were about to come and take him by force, and make him king: and he retired into a mountain alone.
Sabendo pois Jesus que viriam, e o tomariam, para fazê-lo rei, voltou a se retirar sozinho ao monte.
16 And when it was evening, his disciples went down to the sea,
E quando veio o entardecer, seus discípulos desceram para o mar.
17 and sat in a ship, and were going over to Capernaum. And darkness came on, and Jesus had not come to them.
E entrando no barco, vieram do outro lado do mar para Cafarnaum. E era já escuro, e Jesus [ainda] não tinha vindo a eles.
18 And the sea was boisterous against them, for a violent wind was blowing.
E o mar se levantou, porque um grande vento soprava.
19 And they had gone about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, when they saw Jesus walking upon the sea: and as he drew near to the ship, they were afraid.
E havendo já navegado quase vinte e cinco, ou trinta estádios, viram a Jesus andando sobre o mar, e se aproximando do barco; e temeram.
20 But Jesus said to them: It is I; be not afraid.
Mas ele lhes disse: Sou eu, não temais.
21 And they were glad to receive him into the ship. And, directly, the ship was at the land to which they were going.
Eles, então, o receberam com agrado no barco; e logo o barco chegou à terra para onde iam.
22 And the next day, the multitude, who had remained on the other side of the sea, saw that there was no other ship there, except that in which the disciples embarked, and that Jesus did not embark in that ship with his disciples;
O dia seguinte, vendo a multidão, que estava do outro lado do mar, que não havia ali mais que um barquinho, em que seus discípulos entraram; e que Jesus não entrara com seus discípulos naquele barquinho, mas [que] seus discípulos sós se haviam ido;
23 yet that other ships had come from Tiberias, near to the place where they ate the bread when Jesus blessed it.
(Porém outros barquinhos vieram de Tibérias, perto do lugar onde comeram o pão, havendo o Senhor dado graças.)
24 And when the multitude saw, that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples; they embarked in ships, and came to Capernaum, and sought for Jesus.
Vendo pois a multidão que Jesus não estava ali, nem seus discípulos, entraram eles também nos barcos, e vieram a Cafarnaum em busca de Jesus.
25 And when they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him: Our Rabbi, when camest thou hither?
E achando-o do outro lado do mar, disseram: Rabi, quando chegaste aqui?
26 Jesus replied and said to them: Verily, verily, I say to you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the signs, but because ye ate the bread and were satisfied.
Respondeu-lhes Jesus, e disse: Em verdade, em verdade vos digo, que me buscais, não pelos sinais que vistes, mas pelo pão que comestes, e vos fartastes.
27 Labor not for the food that perisheth, but for the food that abideth unto life eternal, which the Son of man will give to you; for him hath God the Father sealed. (aiōnios g166)
Trabalhai não [pela] comida que perece, mas sim [pela] comida que permanece para vida eterna, a qual o Filho do homem vos dará; porque Deus Pai a este selou. (aiōnios g166)
28 They said to him: What shall we do, in order to work the works of God?
Disseram-lhe pois: Que faremos para trabalhar as obras de Deus?
29 Jesus replied and said to them: This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
Respondeu Jesus, e disse-lhes: Esta é a obra de Deus: que creiais naquele que ele enviou.
30 They say to him: What sign doest thou, that we may see and believe in thee? What workest thou?
Disseram-lhe pois: Que sinal, pois, fazes tu para que o vejamos, e em ti creiamos? O que tu operas?
31 Our fathers ate the manna, in the wilderness; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
Nossos pais comeram o maná no deserto, como está escrito: Pão do céu ele lhes deu para comer.
32 Jesus said to them: Verily, verily, I say to you, Moses gave you not the bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the real bread from heaven.
Então Jesus lhes disse: Em verdade, em verdade vos digo, que Moisés não vos deu o pão do céu; mas meu Pai vos dá o verdadeiro pão do céu.
33 For the bread of God is, he that came down from heaven, and giveth life to the world.
Porque o pão de Deus é aquele que desce do céu e dá vida ao mundo.
34 They say to him: Our Lord, give us at all times this bread.
Disseram-lhe pois: Senhor, dá-nos sempre [d] este pão.
35 Jesus said to them: I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me, shall not hunger; and he that believeth on me, shall not thirst, for ever.
E Jesus lhes disse: Eu sou o pão da vida; quem vem a mim de maneira nenhuma terá fome, e quem crê em mim nunca terá sede.
36 But I said to you, That ye have seen me, and do not believe.
Mas já tenho vos dito que também me vistes, e não credes.
37 All that my Father gave me, will come to me: and him, that cometh to me, I will not cast out.
Tudo o que o Pai me dá virá a mim; e ao que vem a mim, em maneira nenhuma o lançarei fora.
38 For I came down from heaven, not to do my own pleasure, but the pleasure of him that sent me.
Porque eu desci do céu, não para fazer minha vontade, mas sim a vontade daquele que me enviou;
39 And this is the pleasure of him that sent me, that whatever he hath given me, I should lose nothing of it, but should raise it up at the last day.
E esta é a vontade do Pai, que me enviou: que de tudo quanto me deu, nada perca, mas que eu o ressuscite no último dia.
40 For this is the pleasure of my Father, that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth on him, should have life eternal; and I will raise him up at the last day. (aiōnios g166)
E esta é a vontade daquele que me enviou, que todo aquele que vê ao Filho, e nele crê, tenha a vida eterna; e eu o ressuscitarei no último dia. (aiōnios g166)
41 Then the Jews murmured at him, because he said: I am the bread, who have descended from heaven.
Então os judeus murmuravam dele, porque ele tinha dito: Eu sou o pão que desceu do céu.
42 And they said: Is not this Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? And how doth he say: I came down from heaven?
E diziam: Não é este Jesus o filho de José, cujos pai e mãe nós conhecemos? Como, pois, ele diz: Desci do céu?
43 Jesus replied and said to them: Murmur not, one with another.
Respondeu, então, Jesus, e disse-lhes: Não murmureis entre vós.
44 No man can come to me, unless the Father who sent me, shall draw him; and I will raise him up at the last day.
Ninguém pode vir a mim se o Pai que me enviou não o trouxer; e eu o ressuscitarei no último dia.
45 For it is written, in the prophet: And they shall all be taught of God. Whoever, therefore, heareth from the Father, and learneth from him, cometh to me.
Escrito está nos profetas: E todos serão ensinados por Deus. Portanto todo aquele que do Pai ouviu e aprendeu, esse vem a mim.
46 Not that any one hath seen the Father, except him who hath come from God; he it is, hath seen the Father.
Não que alguém tenha visto ao Pai, a não ser aquele que é de Deus; este tem visto ao Pai.
47 Verily, verily, I say to you: That, to him who believeth in me, there is life eternal. (aiōnios g166)
Em verdade, em verdade vos digo, que aquele que crê tem vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)
48 I am the bread of life.
Eu sou o pão da vida.
49 Your fathers ate the manna, in the wilderness, and they died.
Vossos pais comeram o maná no deserto, e morreram.
50 But this is the bread which cometh from heaven, that a man may eat of it, and not die.
Este é o pão que desceu do céu, para que o ser humano coma dele e não morra.
51 I am the bread of life, who have come down from heaven: and if a man shall eat of this bread, he will live for ever. And the bread which I shall give, is my body, which I give for the life of the world. (aiōn g165)
Eu sou o pão vivo, que desceu do céu; se alguém comer deste pão, para sempre viverá. E o pão que eu darei é minha carne, a qual darei pela vida do mundo. (aiōn g165)
52 Then the Jews contended one with another, and said: How can he give us his body to eat?
Discutiam, pois, os Judeus entre si, dizendo: Como este pode nos dar [sua] carne para comer?
53 And Jesus said to them: Verily, verily, I say to you, That, unless ye eat the body of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life within you.
Jesus, então, lhes disse: Em verdade, em verdade vos digo, que se não comerdes a carne do Filho do homem e beberdes seu sangue, não tereis vida em vós mesmos.
54 But he that eateth of my body, and drinketh of my blood, to him is life eternal; and I will raise him up at the last day (aiōnios g166)
Quem come minha carne e bebe meu sangue tem vida eterna, e eu o ressuscitarei no último dia. (aiōnios g166)
55 For my body truly is food, and my blood truly is drink.
Porque minha carne verdadeiramente é comida; e meu sangue verdadeiramente é bebida.
56 He that eateth my body, and drinketh my blood, abideth in me, and I in him
Quem come minha carne e bebe meu sangue, em mim permanece, e eu nele.
57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live because of the Father; so he that shall eat me, he also will live because of me.
Como o Pai vivo me enviou, e eu vivo pelo Pai, assim quem come a mim também por mim viverá.
58 This is the bread that came down from heaven: not as your fathers ate the manna, and died; whoever shall eat of this bead, will live for ever. (aiōn g165)
Este é o pão que desceu do céu. Não como vossos pais, que comeram o maná e morreram; quem comer este pão viverá para sempre. (aiōn g165)
59 These things he uttered in the synagogue, while teaching at Capernaum.
Estas coisas ele disse na sinagoga, ensinando em Cafarnaum.
60 And many of his disciples who heard him, said: This is a hard speech, who can hear it.
Muitos pois de seus discípulos, ao ouvirem [isto], disseram: Dura é esta palavra; quem a pode ouvir?
61 And Jesus knew in himself, that his disciples murmured at this; and he said to them, Doth this stumble you?
Sabendo, pois, Jesus em si mesmo, que seus discípulos murmuravam disso, disse-lhes: Isto vos ofende?
62 If then, ye were to see the Son of man ascend, to where he was from the beginning!
[Que seria] pois, se vísseis ao Filho do homem subir aonde estava primeiro?
63 It is the Spirit that vivifieth; the body profiteth nothing. The words which I have used with you, they are spirit, and they are life.
O Espírito é o que vivifica, a carne para nada aproveita; as palavras que eu vos digo são espírito e são vida.
64 But there are some of you, that believe not. For Jesus knew, from the beginning, who they were that believed not, and who it was that would betray him.
Mas há alguns de vós que não creem. Porque Jesus já sabia desde o princípio quem eram os que não criam, e quem era o que o entregaria.
65 And he said to them: For this reason, I said to you, That no one can come to me, unless it be given to him by my Father.
E dizia: Por isso tenho vos dito que ninguém pode vir a mim, se não lhe for concedido por meu Pai.
66 On account of this speech, many of his disciples turned back, and walked not with him.
Desde então muitos de seus discípulos voltaram atrás, e já não andavam com ele.
67 And Jesus said to the twelve: Are ye also disposed to go away?
Disse, então, Jesus aos doze: Por acaso também vós quereis ir?
68 Simon Cephas replied, and said: My Lord, to whom shall we go? The words of life eternal are with thee. (aiōnios g166)
Respondeu-lhe pois Simão Pedro: Senhor, a quem iremos? Tu tens as palavras da vida eterna; (aiōnios g166)
69 And we believe, and know, that thou art the Messiah, the Son of the living God.
E nós cremos e conhecemos que tu és o Santo de Deus.
70 Jesus said to them: Have not I chosen you twelve? Yet one of you is a devil.
Jesus lhes respondeu: Por acaso não [fui] eu que vos escolhi, os doze? Porém um de vós é um diabo.
71 This he spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon; for he was afterwards to betray him, being one of the twelve.
E ele dizia [isto] de Judas de Simão Iscariotes; porque ele o entregaria, o qual era um dos doze.
