< John 2 >
1 And on the third day there was a feast in Cana, a city of Galilee: and the mother of Jesus was there.
2 And also Jesus and his disciples were invited to the feast.
3 And the wine fell short: and his mother said to Jesus: They have no wine.
In ko je zmanjkalo vina, reče mati Jezusova njemu: Vina nimajo.
4 Jesus said to her: What is in common to me and thee? Not yet hath my hour come.
Reče jej Jezus: Kaj imaš z menoj, žena? Ni še prišel čas moj.
5 His mother said to the waiters: Whatever he saith to you, do it.
Mati njegova velí služabnikom: Karkoli vam poreče, storite.
6 And there were there six waterpots of stone, set for the purification of Jews, containing each two or three quadrantalia.
7 Jesus said to them: Fill those water-pots with water. And they filled them to the top.
Velí jim Jezus: Napolnite vrče z vodo. In napolnijo jih do vrha.
8 He said to them: Draw now, and carry to the master of the feast. And they carried.
In velí jim: Zajmite sedaj, in nesite starešini. Ter nesó.
9 And when the master of the feast tasted the water that had become wine, and did not know whence it came, (although the waiters knew, as they had filled the pots with water, ) the master of the feast called the bridegroom,
10 and said to him: Every man first bringeth forward the good wine, and when they are satiated, then that which is inferior; but thou hast kept the good wine till now.
In reče mu: Vsak človek najprej dobro vino daje, in ko se opijanijo, tedaj tisto, ktero jo slabše: a ti si prihranil dobro vino noter doslej.
11 This is the first sign, which Jesus wrought at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory: and his disciples believed on him.
Ta začetek čudežev je storil Jezus v Kani Galilejskej, in pokazal je slavo svojo; in verovali so va-nj učenci njegovi.
12 Afterwards he went down to Capernaum, he and his mother and his brothers and his disciples; and they were there a few days.
Po tem snide v Kapernaum, on in mati njegova in bratje njegovi, in učenci njegovi; in tu ostanejo ne veliko dnî.
13 And the pass over of the Jews drew near; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
14 And he found in the temple those who sold beeves and sheep and doves, and the money-changers sitting there.
In najde v tempeljnu prodajalce volov in ovâc in golobov, in menjalce, da sedé.
15 And he made himself a whip from a cord, and turned them all out of the temple, and the sheep and the beeves and the money-changers; and he poured out their money, and overset their tables:
In naredivši bič iz vrvi, izžene vse iz tempeljna, tudi ovce in vole. In menjalcem raztrese denar, in mize prevrne.
16 and he said to them that sold doves, Take away these things; and make not my Father's house a house of traffic.
In tém, kteri so prodajali golobe, reče: Odnesite to odtod; ne delajte iz hiše očeta mojega hiše trgovske.
17 And his disciples remembered, that it is written: The zeal of thy house hath devoured me.
18 But the Jews replied, and said to him: What sign showest thou to us, since thou doest these things?
Pa odgovoré Judje in mu rekô: Kakošno znamenje nam boš pokazal, da to delaš?
19 Jesus answered, and said to them: Demolish this temple, and in three days I will again erect it.
Jezus odgovorí in jim reče: Poderite ta tempelj, in v treh dnéh ga bom postavil.
20 The Jews said to him: Forty and six years, this temple was building; and wilt thou build it again in three days?
21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
22 And when he was arisen from the dead, his disciples remembered, that he spoke this: and they believed the scriptures, and the word that Jesus spake.
23 And while Jesus was in Jerusalem, at the feast of the passover, many believed on him, because they saw the signs he wrought.
24 But Jesus did not confide himself to them; because he knew all men:
Sam se jim pa Jezus ni zaupal, ker jih je vse poznal;
25 And he needed not that any one should testify to him respecting any man; for he himself knew what is in man.
