John 16
1 These things have I said to you, that ye may not be stumbled.
ESTAS cosas os he hablado, para que no os escandaliceis.
2 For they will eject you from their synagogues; and the hour will come, that whoever shall kill you, will suppose that he presenteth an offering to God.
Os echarán de las sinagogas: y aun viene la hora, cuando cualquiera que os matare, pensará que hace servicio á Dios.
3 And these things will they do, because they have not known either my Father, or me.
Y estas cosas os harán, porque no conocen al Padre ni á mí.
4 These things have I spoken to you, that when the time of them cometh, ye may recollect, that I told you of them. And I did not tell you these things from the beginning, because I was with you.
Mas os he dicho esto, para que cuando aquella hora viniere, os acordeis que yo os lo habia dicho: esto empero no os lo dije al principio, porque yo estaba con vosotros.
5 But now, I am going to Him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
Mas ahora voy al que me envió, y ninguno de vosotros me pregunta: ¿Adónde vas?
6 And because I have told you these things, sorrow hath come and hath filled your hearts.
Antes porque os he hablado estas cosas, tristeza ha henchido vuestro corazon.
7 But I tell you the truth, that it is profitable for you that I go away; for, if I go not away, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
Empero yo os digo la verdad: Os es necesario que yo vaya; porque si yo no fuese, el Consolador no vendria á vosotros: mas si yo fuere os le enviaré.
8 And when he is come, he will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.
Y cuando él viniere, redargüirá al mundo de pecado, y de justicia, y de juicio:
9 Of sin because they believe not in me:
De pecado ciertamente, por cuanto no creen en mí:
10 and of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more:
Y de justicia, por cuanto voy al Padre, y no me veréis más:
11 and of Judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
Y de juicio, por cuanto el príncipe de este mundo [ya] es juzgado.
12 Moreover, I have much to say to you: but ye cannot comprehend it now.
Aun tengo muchas cosas que deciros, mas ahora no [las] podeis llevar,
13 But when the Spirit of truth shall come, he will lead you into all the truth. For he will not speak from his own mind; but whatever he heareth, that will he speak: and he will make known to you things to come.
Pero cuando viniere aquel Espíritu de verdad, él os guiará á toda verdad; porque no hablará de sí mismo, sino que hablará todo lo que oyere; y os hará saber las cosas que han de venir.
14 He will glorify me; because he will receive of what is mine, and will show it to you.
El me glorificará, porque tomará de lo mio, y os [lo] hará saber.
15 Whatever the Father hath, is mine: therefore said I to you that he will receive of what is mine, and will show it to you.
Todo lo que tiene el Padre, mio es: por eso dije que tomará de lo mio, y os [lo] haré saber.
16 A little while, and ye will not see me; and again a little while, and ye will see me; because I go to the Father.
Un poquito, y no me veréis: y otra vez un poquito, y me veréis: porque yo voy al Padre.
17 And his disciples said one to another: What is this that he saith to us, A little while, and ye will not see me and again a little while, and ye will see me, because I go to my Father?
Entónces dijeron [algunos] de sus discípulos unos á otros: ¿Qué es esto que nos dice: Un poquito, y no me veréis: y otra vez un poquito y me veréis; y, porque yo voy al Padre?
18 And they said: What is this little while, of which he speaketh? We know not what he saith.
Decian pues: ¿Qué es esto que dice: Un poquito? No entendemos lo que habla.
19 And Jesus knew, that they desired to ask him; and he said to them: Are ye debating with each other, of what I said to you, A little while, and ye will not see me, and again a little while, and ye will see me?
Y conoció Jesus que le querian preguntar, y díjoles: ¿Preguntais entre vosotros de esto que dije, Un poquito, y no me veréis; y otra vez un poquito, y me veréis?
20 Verily, verily, I say to you, That ye will weep and lament: And the world will rejoice, while to you will be sorrow. But your sorrow will be turned to joy.
De cierto, de cierto os digo que vosotros lloraréis y lamentaréis, y el mundo se alegrará: empero aunque vosotros estaréis tristes, vuestra tristeza se tornará en gozo.
21 A woman, in bringing forth, hath sorrow, for the day of her travail hath come: but when she hath brought forth a son, she remembereth not her anguish, because of the joy that a human being is born into the world.
La mujer cuando pare, tiene dolor, porque es venida su hora; mas despues que ha parido un niño, ya no se acuerda de la apretura, por el gozo de que haya nacido un hombre en el mundo.
22 Ye also now have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will deprive you of your joy.
Tambien, pues, vosotros ahora á la verdad teneis tristeza: mas otra vez os veré, y se gozará vuestro corazon, y nadie quitará de vosotros vuestro gozo.
23 And in that day ye will ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say to you, That whatsoever ye shall ask of my Father in my name, he will give to you.
Y aquel dia no me preguntaréis nada. De cierto, de cierto os digo que todo cuanto pidiereis al Padre en mi nombre, os [lo] dará.
24 Hitherto ye have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and ye will receive; that your joy may be complete.
Hasta ahora nada habeis pedido en mi nombre: pedid, y recibiréis, para que vuestro gozo sea cumplido.
25 These things have I spoken to you in allegories: but the hour will come, when I shall not speak to you in allegories, but I will speak to you plainly of the Father.
Estas cosas os he hablado en proverbios: mas viene la hora cuando ya no os hablaré por proverbios, sino que claramente os anunciaré de mi Padre.
26 In that day ye will ask in my name; and I do not say to you, that I will pray to the Father for you;
Aquel dia pediréis en mi nombre; y no os digo, que yo rogaré al Padre por vosotros:
27 for the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I proceeded from the presence of the Father.
Porque el misino Padre os ama, por cuanto vosotros me amasteis, y habeis creido que yo salí de Dios.
28 I proceeded forth from before the Father, and came into the world; and again I leave the world, and go to the Father.
Salí del Padre, y he venido al mundo; otra vez dejo el mundo, y voy al Padre.
29 His disciples say to him: Lo, now thou speakest plainly, and thou utterest no allegory.
Dícenle sus discípulos: Hé aquí ahora hablas claramente, y ningun proverbio dices.
30 Now know we, that thou knowest every thing; and thou hast no need, that any one should ask thee: by this we believe, that thou didst proceed from God.
Ahora entendemos que sabes todas las cosas, y no necesitas que nadie te pregunte: en esto creemos que has salido de Dios.
31 Jesus said to them: Do ye believe?
Respondióles Jesus: ¿Ahora creeis?
32 Behold, the hour cometh, and hath now come, when ye will be dispersed, each to his place; and ye will leave me alone. But I am not alone, for the Father is with me.
Hé aquí la hora viene, y ha venido que seréis esparcidos cada uno por su parte, y me dejaréis solo: mas no estoy solo, porque el Padre está conmigo.
33 These things have I said to you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye will have trouble: but, take courage, I have vanquished the world.
Estas cosas os he hablado para que en mí tengais paz: en el mundo tendréis apretura; mas confiad, yo he vencido á mundo.
