Galatians 4
1 But I say, that the heir, so long as he is a child, differeth not from a servant, although he is lord of all;
Pero digo que mientras el hijo sea un niño, él no es de ninguna manera diferente a un sirviente, aunque es el señor de todo;
2 but he is under supervisors and stewards, until the time established by his father.
Pero está bajo tutores y administradores hasta el tiempo fijado por el padre.
3 So also we, while we were children, were in subordination under the elements of the world.
Así que, cuando éramos niños espiritualmente, nos mantenían en esclavitud bajo las primeras reglas del mundo;
4 But when the consummation of the time arrived, God sent forth his Son; and he was from a woman, and was under the law;
Pero cuando llegó el tiempo, Dios envió a su Hijo, nacido de mujer, nacido bajo la ley,
5 that he might redeem them that were under the law; and that we might receive the adoption of sons.
Para liberarlos de quienes estaban bajo la ley, y para que se nos diese la adopción de hijos.
6 And, because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, who crieth, Father, our Father.
Y debido a que son hijos, Dios ha enviado el Espíritu de su Hijo a nuestros corazones, diciendo: Abba, Padre.
7 Wherefore, ye are no longer servants, but sons; and if sons, then heirs of God; through Jesus the Messiah.
Para que ya no seas siervo, sino hijo; y si eres un hijo, entonces la herencia de Dios es tuya.
8 For then, when ye knew not God, ye served them who in their nature are not gods.
En otro tiempo, sin tener conocimiento de Dios, ustedes fueron siervos de aquellos que por derecho no son dioses:
9 But now, since ye have known God, or rather, have been known by God, ye turn yourselves again to the weak and beggarly elements, and wish again to be under them!
Pero ahora que han venido a tener conocimiento de Dios, o más verdaderamente, Dios tiene conocimiento de ustedes, ¿cómo es? ¿que vuelves a los pobres y débiles poderes, deseando ser esclavos de ellos otra vez?
10 Ye observe days and moons, and set times, and years!
Guardas días, y meses, y tiempos fijos, y años.
11 I am afraid, lest I have labored among you in vain.
Me temo que he estado trabajando para ti sin ningún propósito.
12 Be ye like me; because I have been like you.
Mi deseo para ustedes, hermanos, es que puedan ser como yo, porque yo soy como ustedes. Ustedes no me han hecho nada malo;
13 My brethren, I beseech you. Ye have not injured me at all. For ye know, that under the infirmity of my flesh, I at first announced the gospel to you;
Pero saben que a pesar de una enfermedad les estaba predicando el evangelio la primera vez;
14 and the trial in my flesh, ye did not despise nor nauseate: but ye received me as an angel of God, and as Jesus the Messiah.
Y no tenías una mala opinión de mí a causa de la tribulación en mi carne, ni me despreciaban; pero me llevaron a sus corazones como un ángel de Dios, como a Cristo Jesús.
15 Where then is your blessedness? For I testify of you, that if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your eyes, and have given them to me.
¿Dónde está esa alegría que sentían? porque les doy testimonio de que, de ser posible, se hubieran sacado sus ojos y me los hubieran dado.
16 Have I become an enemy to you, by preaching to you the truth?
Entonces, ¿me hecho su enemigo, porque les doy palabras verdaderas?
17 They are zealous towards you, yet not for good; but they wish to shut you up, that ye may be zealous towards them.
Esa gente su interés en ustedes no es bueno; pero su deseo es apartarlos de nosotros, para que puedas ir tras ellos.
18 And it is a good thing to be zealous at all times in good things; and not merely when I am present with you.
Pero es bueno tener interés en una buena causa en todo momento, y no solo cuando estoy presente con ustedes.
19 Ye are my children, of whom I travail in birth again, till the Messiah be formed in you.
Hijos míos, de quienes vuelvo a estar en dolores de parto, hasta que Cristo sea formado en ustedes,
20 And I could wish to be now with you, and to change the tone of my voice; because I am astonished at you.
Verdaderamente mi deseo es estar presente con ustedes ahora, y usar otro tono de voz; porque estoy preocupado por ustedes.
21 Tell me, ye who desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?
Di, tú cuyo deseo es estar bajo la ley, ¿no lees la ley?
22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, one by the bondmaid, and one by the free woman.
Porque está Escrito, que Abraham tuvo dos hijos, uno por la sierva, y el otro por la mujer libre.
23 But he that was by the bond maid, was born after the flesh; and he that was by the free woman, was by the promise.
Ahora el hijo por la sierva tiene su nacimiento después de la carne; pero el hijo de la mujer libre tiene su nacimiento a través de la promesa de Dios.
24 And these are allegorical of the two covenants; the one from mount Sinai, which bringeth forth for bondage, is Hagar.
Qué cosas tienen un sentido secreto; porque estas mujeres son los dos pactos; uno de la montaña del Sinaí, dando a luz a hijos de esclavitud, que es Agar.
25 For Hagar is the mount Sinai in Arabia, and correspondeth with the present Jerusalem, and is serving in bondage, she and her children.
Ahora bien, esta Agar es la montaña del Sinaí en Arabia, y es la imagen de la Jerusalén que ahora es: que es sierva con sus hijos.
26 But the Jerusalem above, is the free woman, who is the mother of us.
Pero la Jerusalén de lo alto es libre, que es nuestra madre.
27 For it is written, Be joyful, thou barren, who bearest not: exult and shout, thou who hast not travailed: for more numerous are the children of the desolate than the children of the married woman.
Porque está en las Escrituras, tú que nunca has dado a luz, alégrate; da gritos de alegría, tú que no has tenido dolores de parto; porque los hijos de ella que ha sido abandonado por su marido son más que los de la mujer que tiene marido.
28 Now we, my brethren, like Isaac, are the children of the promise.
Ahora nosotros, hermanos, como Isaac, somos hijos de la promesa de Dios.
29 And as then, he that was born after the flesh, persecuted him who was born of the Spirit; so also is it now.
Pero como en aquellos días el que nació según la carne fue cruel con el que nació después del Espíritu, así también es ahora.
30 But what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondmaid, and her son; because the son of the bondmaid shall not inherit with the son of the free woman.
¿Qué dicen los Escritos? Echa fuera a la sierva y a su hijo; porque el hijo de la sierva no tendrá parte en la herencia con el hijo de la mujer libre.
31 So then, my brethren, we are not sons of the bond-woman, but sons of the free woman.
Entonces, hermanos, no somos hijos de la sierva, sino de la mujer libre.
