Acts 7
1 And the high priest asked him: Are these things so?
१महायाजक म्हणाला, “या गोष्टी अशाच आहेत काय?”
2 And he said: Men, brethren, and our fathers, hear ye. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham, when he was between the rivers, before he came to reside in Charran;
२तेव्हा तो म्हणाला, “बंधुजनहो व वडिलांनो, ऐका, आपला पूर्वज अब्राहाम हारान प्रांतात जाऊन राहण्यापूर्वी मेसोपटेम्या देशात असता गौरवशाली देवाने त्यास दर्शन दिले.”
3 and he said to him: Depart from thy country, and from thy kindred, and go to a land which I will show to thee.
३व म्हटले, “तू आपला देश व आपले नातलग सोडून मी तुला दाखवीन त्या देशात जा.
4 And then Abraham departed from the land of the Chaldeans, and came and dwelt in Charran. And from there, after his father had died, God removed him to this land, in which ye this day dwell.
४तेव्हा तो खास्द्यांच्या देशातून निघून हारान नगरात जाऊन राहिला; मग त्याचा पिता मरण पावल्यावर देवाने त्यास तेथून काढून सध्या तुम्ही राहता त्या देशात आणले.
5 And he did not give him an inheritance in it, not even a foot-track: but he promised that he would give it him, as an inheritance to him and to his seed, when as yet he had no son.
५पण त्यामध्ये त्यास वतन दिले नाही, पाऊल भर देखील जमीन दिली नाही. त्यास मूलबाळ नसताही देवाने त्यास अभिवचन दिले की, हा देश तुला व तुझ्यामागे तुझ्या संततीला वतन असा देईल.
6 And God conversed with him, and said to him: Thy seed will be a sojourner in a foreign land; and they will reduce it to servitude, and will treat it ill, during four hundred years.
६देवाने आणखी असे सांगितले त्याची संतती परदेशात जाऊन काही काळ राहतील, आणि ते लोक त्यांना दास करून चारशे वर्षे वाईटाने वागवतील.
7 And the nation, to whom they perform bondservice, I will judge saith God. And afterwards, they will go out, and will worship me in this land.
७‘ज्या राष्ट्राच्या दास्यात ते असतील त्यांचा न्याय मी करीन’ आणि त्यानंतर ते तेथून निघून ‘या स्थळी माझी उपासना करतील,’ असे देवाने म्हटले.
8 And he gave them the covenant of circumcision. And then he begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day. And Isaac begat Jacob: and Jacob begat our twelve fathers.
८त्याने अब्राहामाला सुंतेचा करार लावून दिला हा करार झाल्यानंतर अब्राहामाला इसहाक झाला, त्याची त्याने आठव्या दिवशी सुंता केली मग इसहाकाला याकोब झाला व याकोबाला बारा कुलपती झाले.
9 And those our fathers envied Joseph, and sold him into Egypt: but God was with him,
९नंतर कुलपतींनी हेव्यामुळे योसेफाला मिसर देशात विकून टाकले, पण देव त्याच्याबरोबर होता.
10 and delivered: him from all his afflictions; and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and he made him chief over Egypt, and over all his house.
१०त्याने त्यास त्याच्यावरील सर्व संकटातून सोडवले, आणि मिसर देशाचा राजा फारो याच्यासमोर त्यास कृपापात्र व ज्ञानी असे केले. म्हणून फारोने त्यास मिसर देशावर व आपल्या सर्व घरावर अधिकारी नेमले.
11 And there was a famine and great distress in all Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, and our fathers lacked food.
११मग सर्व मिसर: आणि कनान या देशात दुष्काळ पडून त्यांच्यावर जबर संकट आले आणि आपल्या पूर्वजांना अन्न मिळेनासे झाले.
12 And when Jacob heard that there was bread-stuff in Egypt, he sent our fathers a first time.
१२तेव्हा मिसर देशात धान्य आहे, हे ऐकून याकोबाने तुमच्याआमच्या पूर्वजांना पहिल्या खेपेस पाठवले.
13 And when they went the second time, Joseph made himself known to his brethren; and the kindred of Joseph was known to Pharaoh.
१३मग दुसऱ्या खेपेस योसेफाने आपल्या भावांना ओळख दिली; आणि योसेफाचे कूळ फारो राजाला कळले.
14 And Joseph sent and brought is father Jacob, and all his family; and they were in number seventy and five souls.
१४तेव्हा योसेफाने आपला पिता याकोब व आपले सगळे नातलग, म्हणजे पंचाहत्तर माणसे ह्यांना बोलावून घेतले.
15 And Jacob went down into Egypt; and he died there, he and our fathers.
१५ह्याप्रमाणे याकोब मिसर देशात गेला; आणि तेथे तो, व आपले पूर्वजही मरण पावले.
16 And he was transported to Sychem, and was deposited in the sepulchre which Abraham bought with money of the sons of Emmor.
१६त्यांना शखेमात नेले आणि जी कबर अब्राहामाने शखेमात हमोराच्या पुत्रांपासून रोख रुपये देऊन विकत घेतली होती तिच्यात त्यांना पुरले.
17 And when the time arrived for that which God had promised to Abraham with an oath, the people had multiplied and become strong, in Egypt:
१७मग देवाने अब्राहामाला जे अभिवचन दिले होते ते पूर्ण होण्याचा समय जसजसा जवळ आला, तसतसे ते लोक मिसर देशात वाढून संख्येने पुष्कळ झाले.
18 until there arose another king over Egypt, who knew not Joseph.
१८योसेफाची माहिती नसलेला असा दुसरा राजा मिसर देशाच्या गादीवर बसेपर्यंत असे चालले.
19 And he dealt craftily with our kindred, and ill-treated our fathers, and gave orders that their infants should be cast away, and should not live.
१९हाच राजा आपल्या लोकांबरोबर कपटाने वागला आणि त्यांची बालके जगू नयेत, म्हणून ती बाहेर टाकून देण्यास त्याने त्यांना भाग पाडले असे त्याने आपल्या पूर्वजांना छळले.
20 At that time was Moses born; and he was lovely to God: and he was nursed three months in his father's house.
२०त्या काळात मोशेचा जन्म झाला, तो देवाच्या दृष्टीने अतिशय सुंदर होता; त्याचे पालनपोषण तीन महिने पर्यंत त्याच्या पित्याच्या घरी झाले.
21 And when he was cast out, by his people, the daughter of Pharaoh found him, and brought him up for her own son.
२१मग त्यास बाहेर टाकून देण्यात आले असता, फारोच्या कन्येने त्यास घेउन आपला मुलगा म्हणून त्यास वाढवले.
22 And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians; and he was eminent in his words, and also in his deeds.
२२मोशेला मिसरी लोकांचे सर्व ज्ञान शिकला; आणि तो भाषणात व कामात पराक्रमी होता.
23 And when he was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the children of Israel.
२३मग तो जवळ जवळ चाळीस वर्षाचा झाला, तेव्हा आपले बांधव म्हणजे इस्राएलाचे संतान ह्यांची भेट घ्यावी असे त्याच्या मनात आले.
24 And he saw one of the race of his kindred treated with violence; and he avenged him, and did him justice, and killed the Egyptian who had abused him.
२४तेव्हा मोशेने इस्राएलातील कोणाएकावर अन्याय होत आहे, असे पाहून या जाचलेल्या मनुष्याचा कैवार घेतला आणि मिसऱ्याला मारून त्याचा सूड घेतला:
25 And he supposed that his brethren the sons of Israel would have understood, that by his hand God would give them deliverance; but they understood not.
२५तेव्हा देव त्याच्या हातून त्याच्या बांधवाची सुटका करत आहे हे त्यांना समजले असेल असे त्यास वाटले होते, पण ते त्यांना समजले नाही.
26 And on another day, he appeared to them, as they were quarrelling one with another. And he exhorted them to become reconciled, saying: Men, ye are brethren; why do ye seek to harm each other?
२६मग दुसऱ्या दिवशी कोणी इस्राएली भांडत असता तो त्यांच्यापुढे आला व त्यांचा समेट करू लागला; तो म्हणाला, ‘गृहस्थांनो, तुम्ही बांधव; आहात एकमेकांवर अन्याय का करता?’
27 But he who did the wrong to his fellow, repulsed him from him, and said to him: Who constituted thee a ruler and a judge over us?
२७तेव्हा जो आपल्या शेजाऱ्यावर अन्याय करत होता, तो त्यास ढकलून देऊन म्हणाला, ‘तुला आमच्यावर अधिकारी व न्यायाधीश कोणी केले?
28 Dost thou seek to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian yesterday?
२८काल तू मिसऱ्याला ठार मारले, तसे मलाही मारायला पाहतोस काय?’
29 And Moses fled at that speech, and became a sojourner in the land of Midian. And he had two sons.
२९हे शब्द ऐकताच मोशे पळून गेला आणि मिद्यान देशात परदेशी होऊन राहिला; तेथे त्यास दोन पुत्र झाले.
30 And when forty years had been passed by him there, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sinai, in a fire that burned in a bush.
३०मग चाळीस वर्षे भरल्यावर, सीनाय पर्वताच्या रानात एका झुडपातील अग्निज्वालेत एक देवदूत त्याच्या दृष्टीस पडला.
31 And when Moses saw it, he admired the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the Lord said to him, audibly:
३१मग मोशेने अग्निज्वालाचे दृष्य पाहिल्यावर, तो फार आश्चर्यचकित झाला; आणि हे दृष्य पाहण्यासाठी तो जवळ गेला, तेव्हा प्रभूची वाणी झाली की,
32 I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob. And Moses trembled, and dared not to gaze at the sight.
३२‘मी तुझ्या पूर्वजांचा देव, अब्राहामाचा देव, इसहाकाचा देव, व याकोबाचा देव आहे.’ तेव्हा मोशे थरथर कापला व त्यास तिकडे पाहण्याचे धैर्य झाले नाही.
33 And the Lord said to him: Loose thy shoes from thy feet; for the ground on which thou standest is holy.
३३कारण प्रभूने त्यास म्हटले, ‘तू आपल्या पायातले जोडे काढ, कारण ज्या जागेवर तू उभा आहेस ती पवित्र भूमी आहे.
34 I have attentively seen the affliction of my people, who are in Egypt; and I have heard their groans, and have come down to deliver them. And now, come, I will send thee to Egypt.
३४मिसर देशातल्या माझ्या लोकांची विपत्ती मी खरोखर पाहिली आहे; त्यांचे हुंदके मी ऐकले आहेत आणि त्यांना सोडवून घेण्यासाठी मी उतरलो आहे; तर आता चल, मी तुला मिसर देशात पाठवतो.’
35 This Moses, whom they rejected, saying, Who constituted thee a ruler and judge over us? this same did God, by the hand of the angel that appeared to him in the bush, send to them to be their captain and deliverer.
३५तुला अधिकारी व न्यायाधीश कोणी केले, असे म्हणून, ‘ज्या मोशेला त्यांनी झिडकारले होते?’ त्यालाच झुडपात दर्शन झालेल्या देवदूताच्या हस्ते, देवाने अधिकारी व मुक्तिदाता म्हणून पाठवले.
36 He it was that brought them out, working signs and wonders and prodigies in the land of Egypt, and at the sea of rushes, and in the desert, forty years.
३६मिसर देशात, तांबड्या समुद्रात, व रानात चाळीस वर्षे अद्भूत कृत्ये करून व चिन्हे दाखवून त्या लोकांस बाहेर नेले.
37 This Moses is the man who said to the children of Israel: A prophet, like me, will the Lord God raise up to you from among your brethren; to him give ear.
३७तोच मोशे इस्राएल लोकांस म्हणाला, ‘देव तुमच्या बांधवामधून, माझ्यासारखा संदेष्टा तुमच्यासाठी उत्पन्न करील.’
38 He it was, who was in the congregation in the wilderness, with the angel that conversed with him and with our fathers at mount Sinai; and he it was, received the living words to give them to us.
३८रानातील मंडळीमध्ये सीनाय पर्वतावर त्याच्याशी बोलणाऱ्या देवदूताबरोबर आणि आपल्या पूर्वजांबरोबर जो होता तो हाच होय. त्यालाच आपल्याला देण्याकरता जिवंत वचने मिळाली.
39 And our fathers would not hearken to him, but forsook him, and in their hearts returned again to Egypt;
३९त्याचे ऐकण्याची आपल्या पूर्वजांची इच्छा नव्हती; तर त्यांनी त्यास धिक्कारले व आपले अंतःकरण मिसर देशाकडे फिरवून.
40 when they said to Aaron: Make us gods who may go before us; because, as for this Moses who brought us from the land of Egypt, we know not what hath become of him.
४०ते अहरोनाला म्हणाले, ‘आमच्यापुढे चालतील अशा देवता आम्हास करून दे. कारण ज्याने आम्हास मिसर देशातून आणले त्या मोशेचे काय झाले, हे आम्हास कळत नाही.’
41 And he made them a calf in those days; and they offered sacrifices to idols, and were voluptuous with the work of their hands.
४१मग त्या दिवसात त्यांनी वासराची मूर्ती बनवली, व तिच्यापुढे ‘यज्ञ करुन’ आपल्या हातच्या कृतीबद्दल आनंदोत्सव केला.
42 And God turned away, and gave them up to worship the hosts of heaven: as it is written in the book of the prophets: Did ye, for forty years, in the wilderness, present to me a slain animal or a sacrifice, ye sons of Israel?
४२तेव्हा देवाने त्यांच्याकडे पाठ फिरवली आणि त्यांना आकाशातील सेनागणाची पूजा करण्यास सोडून दिले; ह्याविषयी संदेष्ट्यांच्या पुस्तकात लिहीले आहे ‘हे इस्राएलाच्या घराण्या, तुम्ही चाळीस वर्षे अरण्यात बलिदाने व यज्ञ मला केलेत काय?
43 But ye bore the tabernacle of Malchum, and the star of the god Rephon, images which ye had made, that ye might bow down to them. I will transport you beyond Babylon.
४३मोलखाचा मंडप व रेफान दैवतांचा तारा म्हणजे पुजण्याकरता: तुम्ही ज्या प्रतिमा केल्या त्या तुम्ही उचलून घेतल्या; मीही तुम्हास बाबेलच्या पलिकडे नेऊन ठेवीन.’
44 Lo, the tabernacle of the testimony of our fathers, was in the wilderness; as he who talked with Moses, commanded to make it after the form which he showed him.
४४तू जो नमुना पाहिलास त्याप्रमाणे साक्षीचा मंडप कर, असे ज्याने मोशेला सांगितले, त्याने नेमल्याप्रमाणे तो मंडप रानात आपल्या पूर्वजांचा होता.
45 And this same tabernacle, our fathers, with Joshua, actually brought into the land which God gave to them for an inheritance from those nations which he drove out before them; and it was borne about, until the days of David.
४५जी राष्ट्रे देवाने त्यांच्यासमोरून घालवली, त्यांचा देश आपल्या ताब्यात घेतला, तेव्हा तो मिळालेला मंडप त्यांनी यहोशवाबरोबर त्या देशात आणिला. आणि दाविदाच्या काळापर्यंत परंपरेने तसाच ठेवला.
46 He found favor before God; and he requested, that he might find a residence for the God of Jacob.
४६दाविदावर देवाची कृपादृष्टी झाली; आणि त्याने याकोबाच्या घराण्यासाठी वस्तीस्थान मिळविण्याची विनंती केली.
47 But Solomon built the house.
४७आणि शलमोनाने त्याच्यासाठी घर बांधले.
48 Yet the most High lodgeth not in a work of human hands; as saith the prophet:
४८तथापि जो परात्पर तो हातांनी बांधलेल्या घरात राहत नाही; संदेष्ट्याने म्हणले आहे.
49 Heaven is my throne, and earth the footstool under my feet. What is the house, ye will build for me? saith the Lord: or, what is the place of my repose?
४९प्रभू म्हणतो, ‘आकाश माझे राजासन आहे, पृथ्वी माझे पादासन आहे. तुम्ही माझ्यासाठी कशा प्रकारचे घर बांधणार? किंवा माझ्या विसाव्याचे स्थान कोणते?
50 Lo, hath not my hand made all these things?
५०माझ्या हाताने या सर्व वस्तू केल्या नाहीत काय?’
51 O ye stiff of neck, and uncircumcised in their heart, and in their hearing; ye do always set yourselves against the Holy Spirit; as your fathers, so also ye.
५१अहो ताठ मानेच्या आणि हृदयांची व कानांची सुंता न झालेल्या, लोकांनो तुम्ही तर पवित्र आत्म्याला; सर्वदा विरोध करता जसे तुमचे पूर्वज तसेच तुम्हीही.
52 For, which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute and kill, even them, who foretold the coming of the Just One, whom ye delivered up and slew?
५२ज्याचा पाठलाग तुमच्या पूर्वजांनी केला नाही असा संदेष्ट्यांमध्ये कोणी झाला का? ज्यांनी त्या नीतिमान पुरूषाच्या आगमनाविषयी पूर्वी सांगितले त्यांना त्यांनी जिवे मारले; आणि आता त्यास धरून देणारे व जिवे मारणारे तुम्ही निघाला आहात.
53 And ye have received the law by the ordination of angels, and have not kept it.
५३अशा तुम्हास देवदूतांच्या योगे योजलेले नियमशास्त्र प्राप्त झाले होते, पण तुम्ही ते पाळले नाही.”
54 And when they heard these things, they were filled with rage in their souls; and they gnashed their teeth against him.
५४त्याचे भाषण ऐकणाऱ्या सभेतील सभासदांच्या अंतःकरणास इतके झोंबले, ते दातओठ खाऊ लागले.
55 And he, as he was full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, looked towards heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
५५परंतु पवित्र आत्म्याने पूर्ण होऊन त्याने आकाशाकडे निरखून पाहिले, तेव्हा देवाचे तेज व देवाच्या उजवीकडे येशू उभा असलेला त्याच्या दृष्टीस पडला.
56 And he said: Lo, I see heaven open, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
५६आणि त्याने म्हटले, “पाहा, आकाश उघडलेले व मनुष्याचा पुत्र देवाच्या उजवीकडे उभा असलेला मला दिसत आहे.”
57 And they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and all rushed upon him.
५७तेव्हा ते मोठ्याने ओरडून, व कान बंद करीत, एकजुटीने त्याच्या अंगावर धावून गेले;
58 And they seized him, and hurried him out of the city, and stoned him. And they who testified against him, laid their clothes at the feet of a certain young man who was called Saul.
५८मग ते त्यास शहराबाहेर घालवून दगडमार करू लागले: आणि साक्षीदारांनी आपली वस्त्रे शौल नावाच्या एका तरूणाच्या पायाजवळ ठेवली.
59 And they stoned Stephen, while he prayed and said: Our Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
५९ते दगडमार करीत असता स्तेफन प्रभूचा धावा करीत म्हणाला, “हे प्रभू येशू, माझ्या आत्म्याचा स्वीकार कर.”
60 And when he had kneeled down, he cried with a loud voice, and said: Our Lord, establish not this sin against them. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
६०मग गुडघे टेकून तो मोठ्याने ओरडला, “हे प्रभू, हे पाप त्यांच्याकडे मोजू नको.” असे बोलून, तो मरण पावला.
