< Acts 4 >
1 And while they were speaking these words to the people, the priests and the Sadducees and the rulers of the temple rose up against them;
Awo Peetero ne Yokaana baali bakyayogera eri abantu, bakabona, n’omukulu w’abakuumi ba Yeekaalu n’Abasaddukaayo ne bajja gye bali,
2 being angry with them, that they taught the people, and preached a resurrection from the dead by the Messiah.
nga basunguwadde nnyo okuwulira nga Peetero ne Yokaana bayigiriza abantu, ku bwa Yesu, okuzuukira mu bafu.
3 And they laid hands on them, and kept them until the next day; because evening was drawing near.
Ne bakwata Peetero ne Yokaana, naye olwokubanga obudde bwali buyise ne babaggalira mu kkomera okutuusa enkeera.
4 And many who had heard the word, believed; and they were, in number, about five thousand men.
Kyokka abantu bangi ku abo abaali bawuliriza abatume ne bakkiriza, era omuwendo gw’abasajja bokka abakkiriza ne guba ng’enkumi ttaano!
5 And the next day, the rulers and the Elders and the Scribes assembled;
Enkeera, abafuzi n’abakulembeze b’Abayudaaya, n’abannyonnyozi b’amateeka ne bakuŋŋaanira mu Yerusaalemi.
6 and also Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and they who were of the kindred of the high priests.
Baali ne Ana Kabona Asinga Obukulu, ne Kayaafa, ne Yokaana, ne Alegezanda n’abalala bangi abaalina oluganda ne Kabona Asinga Obukulu.
7 And when they had set them in the midst, they interrogated them: By what power or what name, have ye done this?
Awo abatume bombi ne baleetebwa ne basimbibwa mu maaso g’Olukiiko. Ne bababuuza nti, “Buyinza ki oba linnya ly’ani kwe musinzidde okukola kino?”
8 Then Simon Cephas was filled with the Holy Spirit, and said to them: Ye rulers of the people, and Elders of the house of Israel, hear ye.
Awo Peetero bwe yajjuzibwa Mwoyo Mutukuvu n’agamba nti, “Abafuzi, n’abakulembeze b’abantu,
9 If we are judged by you this day, respecting the good deed done to the infirm man, by what means he was healed;
obanga tubuuzibwa nsonga ey’omusajja eyawonyezeddwa,
10 be it known to you, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Messiah the Nazarean, whom ye crucified, and whom God hath raised from the dead, lo, by him, doth this man stand here before you recovered.
mutegeere mmwe mwenna n’abantu bonna mu Isirayiri, omusajja ono ayimiridde mu maaso gammwe mu linnya lya Yesu Kristo Omunnazaaleesi, gwe mwakomerera naye Katonda n’amuzuukiza, era kaakano mulamu.
11 This is the stone, which ye builders rejected; and it hath become the head of the corner.
“‘Oyo ly’Ejjinja abazimbi lye baagaana, lye lifuuse ejjinja ekkulu ery’oku nsonda.’
12 Neither is there deliverance in any other; for there is not another name under heaven, which is given to men, whereby to live.
Tewali mu mulala yenna bulokozi, era tewali linnya ddala na limu mu mannya gonna agaaweebwa abantu, wansi w’eggulu, mwetugwanira okulokolebwa.”
13 And when they heard the speech of Simon and John, which they pronounced confidently, they reflected that these were unlearned and plebeian men, and they were surprised at them, and recognized them as having been conversant with Jesus.
Awo ab’Olukiiko bwe baalaba obuvumu bwa Peetero ne Yokaana, ate n’okutegeera ne bategeera nga tebaasoma, era nga si batendeke, ne beewuunya nnyo, ne bategeera ng’abasajja abo baabeeranga ne Yesu.
14 And they saw that the lame man, who had been healed, stood near them; and they could say nothing to confront them.
Era bwe baalaba omusajja eyawonyezebwa ng’ayimiridde nabo, n’eky’okubaddamu ne kibabula.
15 Then they commanded to remove them from the presence of the council; and said one to another:
Ne babalagira okugira nga babeera wabweru Olukiiko lubakubaganyeko ebirowoozo.
16 What shall we do to these men? For lo, that a manifest sign hath been wrought by them, is known to all that reside at Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.
Ab’olukiiko ne beebuuzaganya nti, “Abasajja bano tubakole tutya? Kubanga tetuyinza kwegaana ekyamagero eky’amaanyi ekikoleddwa mu bo; buli muntu yenna mu Yerusaalemi akitegedde.
17 But that the fame of it spread no further, let us interdict their speaking any more to any man in this name.
Naye engeri gye tunaaziyizaamu ebigambo byabwe okwongera okusaasaana kwe kubalabula n’amaanyi baleme kuddayo kwogera na muntu yenna ku linnya lya Yesu.”
18 And they called them, and commanded them not to speak nor to teach at all in the name of Jesus.
Ne babayita bakomewo mu Lukiiko, ne babalagira baleme kuddayo nate kwogera ku linnya lya Yesu.
19 Simon Cephas and John answered, and said to them: Whether it be right before God, that we hearken to you more than to God, judge ye.
Naye Peetero ne Yokaana ne baddamu nti, “Mmwe muba musalawo obanga kituufu mu maaso ga Katonda okuwulira mmwe okusinga okuwulira Katonda.
20 For we cannot but speak that which we have seen and heard.
Tetuyinza butayogera ku bintu bye twalaba, n’ebigambo bye twawulira.”
21 And they threatened them, and dismissed them. For they found no ground for punishing them, because of the people: for every one praised God for what had been done;
Awo Olukiiko bwe lwamala okwongera okubatiisatiisa ne lubaleka ne bagenda, kubanga baabulwa kwe banaasinziira okubabonereza ne batasasamaza bantu. Kubanga abantu bonna baali bagulumiza Katonda olw’ekyo ekyabaawo.
22 for the man, on whom this sign of healing had been wrought, was more than forty years old.
Omusajja eyawonyezebwa yali assussa mu myaka amakumi ana.
23 And when they were dismissed, they went to their brethren, and told them all that the priests and Elders had said.
Awo Peetero ne Yokaana bwe baateebwa ne baddayo eri bannaabwe ne bababuulira byonna bakabona abakulu n’abakulembeze b’Abayudaaya bye baabagamba.
24 And they, when they heard it, unitedly lifted up their voice to God and said: Lord, thou art God, who hast made heaven, and earth, and seas, and every thing in them.
Bonna bwe baabiwulira ne bayimusiza wamu amaloboozi gaabwe n’omwoyo gumu eri Katonda ne basaba nti, “Ayi Mukama, Omutonzi w’eggulu n’ensi n’ennyanja ne byonna ebibirimu,
25 And it is thou who hast said, by the Holy Spirit in the mouth of David thy servant: Why do the nations rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
ggwe Kitaffe wayogerera ku bwa Mwoyo Mutukuvu mu kamwa k’omuweereza wo, Dawudi bwe yagamba nti: “‘Lwaki Abaamawanga banyiigidde, n’abantu ne balowooza ebitaliimu?
26 The kings of the earth and the potentates stood up, and they consulted together, against the Lord, and against his anointed.
Bakabaka b’ensi n’abakulembeze, beegatta okulwanyisa Mukama n’okulwanyisa Kristo we.’
27 For, in reality, against thy holy Son Jesus whom thou hast anointed, Herod and Pilate, with the Gentiles and the congregation of Israel, have been combined together in this city,
Kubanga baakuŋŋaanira mu kibuga. Kerode ne Pontiyo Piraato, awamu n’Abamawanga, n’Abayisirayiri, beegatta okulwanyisa Omuweereza wo Omutukuvu Yesu gwe wafukako amafuta,
28 to do whatever thy hand and thy pleasure previously marked out to be done.
ne bakola ebyo omukono gwo n’okuteesa kwo bye kwateekateeka edda okubaawo.
29 And also now, Lord, behold and see their menaces: and grant to thy servants, that they may proclaim thy word boldly,
Ne kaakano, Ayi Mukama, wulira okutiisatiisa kwabwe; owe abaddu bo obuvumu babuulire ekigambo kyo,
30 while thou extendest thy hand for cures and prodigies, to be done in the name of thy holy Son Jesus.
golola omukono gwo owonye, n’obubonero n’ebyamagero bikolebwenga mu linnya ly’Omuweereza wo Omutukuvu Yesu.”
31 And when they had prayed and made supplications, the place in which they were assembled was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and spoke the word of God boldly.
Awo bwe baamala okusaba, ekifo mwe baali bakuŋŋaanidde ne kinyeenyezebwa, bonna ne bajjuzibwa Mwoyo Mutukuvu ne babuulira ekigambo kya Katonda n’obuvumu.
32 And in the assembly of the persons that believed, there was one soul, and one mind: and no one of them said, of the property he possessed, that it was his own; but whatever was theirs, it was the community's.
Abakkiriza bonna baalina omwoyo gumu n’omutima gumu; nga tewali agamba nti kino kye nnina kyange ku bwange, wazira nga bonna bagabanira wamu.
33 And with great power, the legates testified to the resurrection of Jesus Messiah: and great grace was with them all.
Awo abatume ne babuulira nnyo n’amaanyi mangi ku kuzuukira kwa Mukama waffe Yesu, era bonna ne bajjula ekisa kingi.
34 And no one among them was destitute; for those who possessed lands or houses, sold, and brought the price of what was sold,
Mu bo temwali baali mu kwetaaga, kubanga abo abaalina ettaka oba amayumba, baabitundanga, ensimbi ezivudde mu bye batunze
35 and placed it at the feet of the legates; and distribution was made to every one, as he had need.
ne bazireeta ku bigere by’abatume bagabireko buli muntu ng’okwetaaga kwe bwe kwalinga.
36 And Joseph, who by the legates was surnamed Barnabas, (which is interpreted Son of Consolation, ) a Levite of the country of Cyprus,
Awo Yusufu, Omuleevi abatume gwe baatuuma Balunabba (amakulu gaalyo nti atereeza emitima gy’abantu) eyazaalibwa e Kupulo,
37 had a field: and he sold it, and brought the price of it, and laid it before the feet of the legates.
n’atunda ennimiro ye, ensimbi ezaavaamu n’azireeta ku bigere by’abatume.
