Luke 6
1 IT was on the shabath, while Jeshu was walking among the corn, and his disciples gathered the ears, and rubbed in their hands and ate (them).
Eens ging Hij op een sabbat door een korenveld, en zijn leerlingen plukten aren af, wreven ze met de handen uit, en aten ze op.
2 But some of the Pharishee said to them, Why do you a thing which it is not lawful on the shabuth to do?
Enige farizeën zeiden dus: Waarom doet gij, wat op de sabbat niet is geoorloofd?
3 Jeshu answered and said to them, And this have you not read, what David did when he hungered, and they who were with him?
Jesus gaf hun ten antwoord: Hebt ge dan niet gelezen, wat David deed, toen hij met zijn gevolg honger had?
4 that he went into the house of Aloha, and the bread of the table of the Lord he took, ate, and gave to them who were with him, that (bread) which was not lawful to eat, except by the priests only?
Hoe hij het huis van God binnenging, de toonbroden nam en opat, en er van gaf aan hen die bij hem waren? En toch mag niemand ze eten, dan de priesters alleen.
5 And he said to them, That the Lord of the shabath is the Son of man.
Ook zeide Hij hun: De Mensenzoon is Heer van de sabbat.
6 And it was on another shabath (that) he entered into the synagogue, and taught. And there was a man whose right hand was dried:
Op een andere sabbat ging Hij de synagoge binnen, om onderricht te geven. Daar was een man, wiens rechterhand was verdord.
7 and the Sophree and Pharishee watched him, if he would heal on the shabath, that they might accuse him.
De schriftgeleerden en farizeën bespiedden Hem, of Hij ook op de sabbat zou genezen, om Hem dan te kunnen beschuldigingen.
8 But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man whose hand was dried, Rise (and) come into the midst of the assembly.
Daar Hij hun gedachten kende, sprak Hij tot den man met de verdorde hand: Sta op, en kom in het midden. Hij stond op, en ging er staan.
9 And when he had come and stood, Jeshu said to them, I ask you which is lawful to do on the shabath, good or evil, life to save or to destroy?
Nu sprak Jesus tot hen: Ik vraag u, of men op de sabbat goed mag doen of kwaad, iemand redden of doden?
10 And he beheld them all, and said to him, Stretch forth thine hand: and he stretched it forth, and his hand was restored as its fellow.
Hij liet zijn blik over hen allen gaan, en sprak tot hem: Strek uw hand uit! Hij strekte ze uit, en zijn hand was genezen.
11 But they were filled with envy, and spake one with another what they should do with Jeshu.
Maar ze werden razend van woede, en bespraken onder elkander, wat ze Jesus zouden doen.
12 BUT it was in those days that Jeshu went forth into a mountain to pray; and there remained he all night in the prayer of Aloha.
In die dagen ging Hij het gebergte in, om te bidden, en bracht er de nacht door in het gebed tot God.
13 And when the day brake, he called his disciples, and chose from them twelve, those whom he named Apostles,
Toen de dag aanbrak, riep Hij zijn leerlingen bijeen, en koos er twaalf van hen uit, die Hij apostelen noemde:
14 Shemun, he whose name was Kipha, and Andreas his brother, and Jacub, and Juchanon, and Philipos, and Bar Tholmai,
Simon, dien Hij ook Petrus noemde, en Andreas, zijn broer; Jakobus en Johannes; Filippus en Bartolomeüs;
15 and Mathai, and Thoma, and Jakub bar Chalphai, and Shemun who was called the Zealous,
Matteüs en Tomas; Jakobus van Alfeüs, en Simon, bijgenaamd de ijveraar,
16 and Jihuda bar Jakub, and Jihuda Scaruta, he who was the traitor.
Judas (broer) van Jakobus, en Judas Iskáriot, die een verrader werd.
17 And Jeshu descended with them, and stood in the plain, and a great assembly of his disciples and a multitude of people from all Jehud, and from Urishlem, and from the sea-coast of Tsur and Tsaidon,
Nu daalde Hij met hen af, en bleef op een vlakte staan. Daar bevond zich ook een talrijke groep van zijn leerlingen en een grote volksmenigte uit heel Judea en Jerusalem, en uit het kustland van Tyrus en Sidon,
18 who had come to hear his words, and to be healed of their diseases; and they who were vexed by unclean spirits, and they were healed.
die gekomen waren, om Hem te horen en van hun kwalen genezen te worden. Allen, die door onreine geesten werden gekweld, werden genezen.
19 And all the multitudes sought to approach to him, for the power went forth from him, and all of them he healed.
En al het volk zocht Hem aan te raken; want er ging een kracht van Hem uit, die allen genas.
20 AND he lifted up his eyes upon his disciples, and said, Blessed are you poor, for yours is the kingdom of Aloha.
Nu sloeg Hij zijn ogen op naar zijn leerlingen, en sprak: Zalig gij armen; want aan u behoort het koninkrijk Gods.
21 Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.
Zalig gij, die thans honger lijdt; want gij zult worden verzadigd. Zalig gij, die nu weent; want gij zult lachen.
22 Blessed are you when the sons of man hate you, and separate you, and revile you, and cast out your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of man.
Zalig zijt gij, wanneer de mensen u haten, u om den Mensenzoon uitbannen en honen, en smaad werpen op uw naam.
23 Rejoice in that day, and exult, for your reward is great in heaven; for thus did they to your fathers the prophets.
Verheugt u op die dag en jubelt; zie, uw loon is groot in de hemel. Want zó hebben hun vaders de profeten behandeld.
24 But woe to you (who are) rich, because you have received your consolation.
Maar wee u, rijken; want gij hebt uw troost al ontvangen.
25 Woe to you (who are) full, for you shall hunger. Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall weep and lament.
Wee u, die thans zijt verzadigd; want gij zult honger lijden. Wee u, die nu lacht; want gij zult treuren en wenen.
26 Woe to you when the sons of men shall speak well of you, for so did to the prophets of falsity their fathers.
Wee u, wanneer alle mensen u prijzen; want zó hebben hun vaders met de valse profeten gedaan.
27 But I say to you who hear, Love your adversaries, and do good to those who hate you,
Maar Ik zeg tot u, die naar Mij luistert: Bemint uw vijanden; doet wel aan die u haten;
28 and bless those who execrate you, and pray for those who lead you by violence.
zegent die u vloeken; bidt voor wie u lasteren.
29 And to one who striketh you on your cheek, offer to him the other: and whosoever taketh your cloak, forbid him not your coat also.
Wie u op de ene wang slaat, keer hem ook de andere toe; en wie u van de mantel berooft, weiger hem ook het onderkleed niet.
30 To every one who asketh of you give; and from him who taketh of yours demand not (again).
Geef aan ieder die iets van u vraagt, en eis het uwe niet terug van hem, die het neemt.
31 And as you will that the sons of man should do to you, so do you also to them.
En zoals ge wilt, dat de mensen u doen, doet het ook aan hen.
32 For if you love them who love you, what is your grace? for sinners also love those who love them.
Als gij bemint die u liefhebben, wat voor verdienste hebt gij dan wel? Want ook de zondaars hebben lief, die hen beminnen.
33 And if you do good to those who benefit you, what is your grace? for the sinners also thus do.
Als gij weldoet aan hen die u weldoen, wat voor verdienste hebt gij dan wel? De zondaars doen dat immers ook.
34 And if you lend to them from whom you expect to be recompensed, what is your grace? for sinners also lend to sinners, that they might be profited.
En als gij leent aan hen, van wie gij hoopt iets terug te krijgen, wat voor verdienste hebt gij dan wel? Ook de zondaars lenen aan zondaars, om evenveel terug te krijgen.
35 But love your adversaries, and do good to them, and lend, and cut not off the hope of any one; and great shall be your reward, and you shall be the children of the Most High; for he is benign to the evil and to the ungrateful.
Neen, hebt uw vijanden lief, doet wel en leent uit, zonder er iets voor terug te hopen; dan zal uw loon groot zijn, en zult gij kinderen zijn van den Allerhoogste. Hij is goedertieren, zelfs voor de ondankbaren en bozen.
36 Be you therefore merciful, as also your Father is merciful.
Weest dus barmhartig, zoals ook uw Vader barmhartig is.
37 JUDGE not, and you shall not be judged; condemn not, and you shall not be condemned; release, and you shall be released;
Oordeelt niet, en gij zult niet worden geoordeeld. Vonnist niet, en gij zult niet worden gevonnist. Spreekt vrij, en gij zult vrijgesproken worden.
38 give, and it shall be given to you; in good measure, compressed, redundant, shall they pour into your bosoms. For in that measure you mete, it shall be measured to you.
Geeft, en u zal worden gegeven: een goede, volgestampte, geschudde en overlopende maat zal u in de schoot worden gestort. Want met de maat, waarmee ge meet, zal ook u worden gemeten.
39 And he spake to them a parable: How can the blind lead the blind, and not fall into the ditch?
Hij zei hun ook een gelijkenis. Kan een blinde een blinde leiden? Vallen dan beiden niet in een kuil?
40 The disciple than his master is not greater; but every man who is perfect shall be as his master.
Geen leerling staat boven den leraar; slechts de goedgevormde leerling zal als zijn leraar zijn.
41 For why behold you the rod that is in the eye of your brother, but the rafter in your (own) eye is not seen by you?
Hoe ziet ge de splinter in het oog van uw broeder, en de balk in uw eigen oog ziet ge niet?
42 Or how can you say to your brother, My brother, permit (that) I pull out the rod that is in your eye, and behold the rafter in your own eye is not seen by you? Hypocrite! first take out the rafter from your own eye, and then shall you see to take out the rod that is in the eye of your brother.
Of hoe kunt ge tot uw broeder zeggen: Broeder, laat mij de splinter trekken uit uw ogen, en de balk in uw eigen oog ziet ge niet? Huichelaar, trek eerst de balk uit uw eigen oog; dan zult ge zien, hoe ge de splinter uit het oog van uw broeder moet trekken.
43 A good tree maketh not evil fruits; also an evil tree maketh not good fruits:
Neen, er is geen goede boom, die slechte vruchten draagt; geen slechte boom, die goede vruchten draagt.
44 for every tree by its fruits is known. For how gather they from thorns figs? neither also from the bramble do they gather in grapes.
Want iedere boom wordt aan zijn vruchten gekend; van doornen plukt men geen vijgen, en van een braambos snijdt men geen druiven.
45 The good man, from the good treasures which are in his heart, bringeth forth good things; and the evil man, from the evil treasures which are in his heart, bringeth forth evil things; for from the adundancies of the heart the lips speak.
De goede mens brengt het goede voort uit de goede schat van zijn hart; maar de slechte mens brengt uit de slechte schat het slechte voort. Want de mond spreekt, waar het hart vol van is.
46 Why call you me, My Lord, my Lord, and the things which I say do not?
Waarom noemt gij Mij Heer, Heer; en gij doet niet wat Ik zeg?
47 Every man who cometh to me and heareth my words, and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like.
Wie tot Mij komt en mijn woorden hoort, maar zich er ook naar gedraagt. Ik zal u tonen aan wien hij gelijk is.
48 He is like a man who built a house, and digged deep, and laid the foundations upon the rock: but when there was an inundation, the inundation beat against that house, and it could not shake it, for its foundations were set upon a rock.
Hij is gelijk aan een man, die een huis wilde bouwen, die graven en uitdiepen bleef, en de grondslag legde op de rots. Toen er nu een stortvloed kwam, beukte de stroom tegen dit huis; maar hij kon het niet doen wankelen, want het was stevig gebouwd.
49 And he who heareth and doeth not, is like a man who built his house upon the dust, without a foundation: and when the river beat against it, it immediately fell, and the ruin was great of that house.
Maar wie hoort, en er niet naar handelt, is gelijk aan een man, die een huis zonder grondslag bouwde, boven op de grond. De stroom beukte er tegen aan; het huis viel aanstonds in, en werd geheel verwoest.
