James 3
1 LET there not be many teachers among you, my brethren, but know that a greater condemnation we incur.
Fraților, să nu fiți mulți dintre voi învățători, știind că vom primi o judecată mai grea.
2 For (in) many we all offend. Every one who in word offendeth not, this is a perfect man, who is able to make subject also all his body.
Căci toți ne poticnim în multe lucruri. Oricine nu se poticnește în cuvânt este o persoană desăvârșită, capabilă să țină în frâu și tot trupul.
3 For, behold, bridles into the mouth of horses we throw that we may make them submissive to us, and their whole body we turn.
Într-adevăr, noi punem mânere în gura cailor pentru ca ei să ne asculte și le îndrumăm tot corpul.
4 Also the mighty ships, while the furious winds drive them, by a little wood are turned about to the region which the will of him who guideth doth contemplate.
Iată că și corăbiile, deși sunt atât de mari și sunt conduse de vânturi năprasnice, sunt totuși ghidate de o cârmă foarte mică, oriunde dorește pilotul.
5 So also the tongue is a small member, and uplifteth itself. A little fire also burneth many forests;
Tot așa și limba este un membru mic și se laudă cu lucruri mari. Vedeți cum un foc mic se poate extinde până la o pădure mare!
6 and the tongue is a fire, a world of sin, like a forest is the tongue itself among our members; it defileth all of our body, and burneth the course of our generations which run (forward) as a wheel, and kindleth also itself with fire. (Geenna g1067)
Și limba este un foc. Lumea nelegiuirii dintre mădularele noastre este limba, care spurcă tot trupul și dă foc cursului firii, și este incendiată de Gheenă. (Geenna g1067)
7 For every nature of animals, and of birds, and reptiles of the sea, and of the dry land, have been subjected to the human nature;
Căci orice fel de animal, pasăre, târâtoare și creatură marină este îmblânzită și a fost îmblânzită de oameni;
8 but the tongue no one can subdue; this is an evil not ordered, (and) full of the poison of death.
dar nimeni nu poate îmblânzi limba. Ea este un rău neliniștit, plin de otravă mortală.
9 For by it we bless the Lord and the Father, and by it we curse men who in the likeness of Aloha were made;
Cu ea îl binecuvântăm pe Dumnezeul și Tatăl nostru, iar cu ea îi blestemăm pe oamenii care sunt făcuți după chipul lui Dumnezeu.
10 and from the same mouth go forth curses and blessings. My brethren, it is not fit that these should so be done.
Din aceeași gură iese binecuvântarea și blestemul. Frații mei, aceste lucruri nu ar trebui să fie așa.
11 Can it be that one fountain shall send forth waters sweet and bitter?
Un izvor trimite oare din aceeași deschizătură apă dulce și apă amară?
12 Or can the fig-tree, my brethren, make olives, or the vines figs? thus also salt waters cannot be made sweet.
Poate un smochin, frații mei, să dea măsline, sau o viță de vie smochine? Așadar, niciun izvor nu produce în același timp apă sărată și apă dulce.
13 Who of you is wise and instructed? let him show his works in good conversations in meek wisdom.
Cine este înțelept și priceput între voi? Să arate prin buna lui purtare că faptele lui sunt făcute cu blândețea înțelepciunii.
14 But if you have bitter envy among yourselves, or contention be in your hearts, be not inflated against the truth, nor lie;
Dar dacă ai în inima ta gelozie amară și ambiție egoistă, nu te lăuda și nu minți împotriva adevărului.
15 because this wisdom from above descendeth not; but is earthly, from the reasonings of the soul, and from demons.
Această înțelepciune nu este cea care coboară de sus, ci este pământească, senzuală și demonică.
16 For where there are envy and contention, there also are tumult and every thing that is evil.
Căci unde sunt gelozia și ambiția egoistă, acolo este confuzie și orice faptă rea.
17 But the wisdom that is from above is pure, and full of peace, and meekness, and obedience, and full of mercies and good fruits, and is without division, and faces accepteth not.
Dar înțelepciunea care vine de sus este mai întâi curată, apoi pașnică, blândă, rezonabilă, plină de milă și de roade bune, fără părtinire și fără ipocrizie.
18 But the fruits of righteousness in quietness are sown by them who make peace.
Or, rodul dreptății este semănat în pace de către cei care fac pace.
