Acts 8
1 But Shaol willed to take part in his killing. And there was made in those days a great persecution against the church that was in Urishlem; and they were all dispersed in the country of Jihud and also among the Shomroyee, excepting only the apostles.
Sau-lơ vốn ưng thuận về sự Ê-tiên bị giết. Trong lúc đó, Hội thánh ở thành Giê-ru-sa-lem gặp cơn bắt bớ đữ tợn; trừ ra các sứ đồ, còn hết thảy tín đồ đều phải chạy tan lạc trong các miền Giu-đê và xứ Sa-ma-ri.
2 And faithful men laid Estephanos in his tomb, and mourned over him greatly.
Dầu vậy, có mấy người tin kính chôn xác Ê-tiên và than khóc người quá bội.
3 BUT Shaol persecuted the church of Aloha, going to the houses, and drawing men and women delivered them to the house of the bound.
Nhưng Sau-lơ làm tàn hại Hội thánh: sấn vào các nhà, dùng sức mạnh bắt đờn ông đờn bà mà bỏ tù.
4 And they who were dispersed went about and preached the word of Aloha.
Vậy, những kẻ đã bị tan lạc đi từ nơi nầy đến nơi khác, truyền giảng đạo Tin Lành.
5 But Philipos descended to a city of the Shomroyee, and preached concerning the Meshiha.
Phi-líp cũng vậy, xuống trong thành Sa-ma-ri mà giảng về Ðấng Christ tại đó.
6 And when they heard his word, the men who were there attended to him, and were persuaded of all that he said: for they saw the signs that he wrought.
Ðoàn dân nghe người giảng và thấy các phép lạ người làm, thì đồng lòng lắng tai nghe người nói;
7 For many whom unclean spirits possessed cried with a high voice, and they came out from them; and others, palsied and lame, were healed:
vì có những tà ma kẻ lớn tiếng lên mà ra khỏi nhiều kẻ bị ám, cùng kẻ bại và què được chữa lành cũng nhiều.
8 and great joy was in that city.
Tại cớ đó, trong thành được vui mừng khôn xiết.
9 But a certain man was there whose name was Simon, who had dwelt in that city much time, and with his sorceries had deceived the people of the Shomroyee, magnifying himself, and saying, I am the Great.
Bấy giờ trong thành đó có một người tên là Si-môn, làm nghề phù phép, tự khoe mình làm người danh tiếng, khiến cho dân Sa-ma-ri rất lấy làm lạ lùng.
10 And all inclined to him, great and small, and said, This is the great Power of Aloha.
Hết thảy từ trẻ đến già đều nghe theo người, mà nói rằng: Chính người là quyền phép của Ðức Chúa Trời, tức là quyền phép lớn như thường gọi vậy.
11 And they were persuaded by him, because that much time by his sorceries he had astonished them.
Nhơn đó chúng nghe theo người, vì đã lâu nay người lấy phù phép giục họ thảy đều phải khen lạ.
12 But when they believed Philipos, who evangelized the kingdom of Aloha in the name of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha, they were baptized, men and women.
Nhưng khi chúng đã tin Phi-líp, là người rao giảng Tin Lành của nước Ðức Chúa Trời và danh Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ cho mình, thì cả đờn ông, đờn bà đều chịu phép báp-tem.
13 And Simon also himself believed, and was baptized, and adhered to Philipos. And when he saw the signs and great works which were done by his hands, he wondered and was astonished.
Chính Si-môn cũng tin, và khi đã chịu phép báp-tem, thì ở luôn với Phi-líp; người thấy những dấu lạ phép kỳ đã làm ra, thì lấy làm lạ lắm.
14 AND when the apostles who were at Urishlem heard that the people of the Shomroyee had received the word of Aloha, they sent to them Kipha and Juhanon.
Các sứ đồ vẫn ở tại thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, nghe tin xứ Sa-ma-ri đã nhận lấy đạo Ðức Chúa Trời, bèn sai Phi -e-rơ và Giăng đến đó.
15 And they went down and prayed for them, that they might receive the Spirit of Holiness:
Hai người tới nơi, cầu nguyện cho các môn đồ mới, để cho được nhận lấy Ðức Thánh Linh.
16 for he was not upon one of them yet; but they were only baptized in the name of our Lord Jeshu.
Vì Ðức Thánh Linh chưa giáng xuống trên một ai trong bọn đó; họ chỉ nhơn danh Ðức Chúa Jêsus mà chịu phép báp-tem thôi.
17 Then they laid upon them the hand, and they received the Spirit of Holiness.
Phi -e-rơ và Giăng bèn đặt tay trên các môn đồ, thì đều được nhận lấy Ðức Thánh Linh.
18 And when Simon saw that by the hand-laying of the apostles the Spirit of Holiness was given, he offered to them silver,
Si-môn thấy bởi các sứ đồ đặt tay lên thì có Ðức Thánh Linh xuống, bèn lấy bạc dâng cho, mà nói rằng:
19 saying, Give also to me this power, that he on whom I shall lay the hand may receive the Spirit of Holiness.
Cũng hãy cho tôi quyền phép ấy, để tôi đặt tay trên ai thì nấy được nhận lấy Ðức Thánh Linh.
20 Shemun Kipha said to him, Thy silver go with thee into perdition, because thou thoughtest that the gift of Aloha with the possessions of the world might he obtained.
Nhưng Phi -e-rơ trả lời rằng: Tiền bạc ngươi hãy hư mất với ngươi, vì ngươi tưởng lấy tiền bạc mua được sự ban cho của Ðức Chúa Trời!
21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this faith, because thine heart hath not been right before Aloha.
Ngươi chẳng có phần hoặc số trong việc nầy; vì lòng ngươi chẳng ngay thẳng trước mặt Ðức Chúa Trời.
22 Nevertheless, repent of this thy wickedness, and pray of Aloha, that the guile of thy heart may haply be forgiven thee;
Vậy, hãy ăn năn điều ác mình, và cầu nguyện Chúa, hầu cho ý tưởng của lòng ngươi đó họa may được tha cho.
23 for in bitter gall and in the bonds of iniquity I see that thou art.
Vì ta thấy ngươi đương ở trong mật đắng và trong xiềng tội ác.
24 Simon answered and said, Pray you on my behalf, of Aloha, that not any of these things which you have spoken may come upon me.
Si-môn trả lời rằng: Xin chính mình các ông hãy cầu nguyện Chúa cho tôi, hầu cho tôi chẳng mắc phải điều ông nói đó.
25 But Shemun and Juhanon, when they had testified and taught the word of Aloha, returned to Urishlem, and evangelized in many villages of the Shomroyee.
Sau khi Phi -e-rơ và Giăng đã làm chứng và Giăng đạo Chúa như thế, thì trở về thành Giê-ru-sa-lem vừa đi vừa giảng Tin Lành trong nhiều làng của người Sa-ma-ri.
26 AND the angel of the Lord spake with Philipos, and said to him, Arise, go to the south, in the desert way which goeth down from Urishlem to Gaza.
Bấy giờ, có một thiên sứ của Chúa phán cùng Phi-líp rằng: Hãy chờ dậy đi qua phía nam, trên con đường từ thành Giê-ru-sa-lem xuống thành Ga-ra. Ðường ấy vắng vẻ.
27 And arising he went. And there met him a certain eunuch who had come from Cush, an officer of Kandak, queen of the Cushoyee; and he was officer over all her treasure. And he had been to worship at Urishlem;
Người chờ dậy và đi. Kìa, có một hoạn quan Ê-thi-ô-bi, làm quan hầu của Can-đác, nữ vương nước Ê-thi-ô-bi, coi sóc hết cả kho tàng bà, đã đến thành Giê-ru-sa-lem để thờ phượng,
28 and while returning that he might go, he sat in the chariot and read in Eshaia the prophet.
khi trở về, ngồi trên xe mà đọc sách tiên tri Ê-sai.
29 And the Spirit of Holiness said to Philipos, Approach, and join the chariot.
Ðức Thánh Linh phán cùng Phi-líp rằng: Hãy lại gần và theo kịp xe đó.
30 And being near, he heard that he read in Eshaia the prophet; and he said to him, Understandest thou what thou readest?
Phi-líp chạy đến, nghe người Ê-thi-ô-bi đọc sách tiên tri Ê-sai, thì nói rằng: Ông hiểu lời mình đọc đó chăng?
31 And he said, How can I understand, unless one teach me? And he prayed of him, of Philipos, to ascend and sit with him.
Hoạn quan trả lời rằng: Nếu chẳng ai dạy cho tôi, thể nào tôi hiểu được? Người bèn mời Phi-líp lên xe ngồi kề bên.
32 But the section (phosuka) of the scripture in which he was reading is this: As a lamb to the slaughter was he led; And as a sheep before the shearer is silent, So opened not he his mouth in his humiliation.
Vả, chỗ người đọc trong Kinh Thánh là đoạn nầy: Người đã bị kéo đi như con chiên đến hàng làm thịt, Lại như chiên con câm trước mặt kẻ hớt lông, người chẳng mở miệng.
33 From oppression and from judgment was he led; And his age who shall recount? For his life is taken from the earth.
Trong khi người hèn hạ thì sự đoán xét Người đã bị cất đi. Còn ai sẽ kể đời của Người? Vì sự sống Người đã bị rút khỏi đất rồi.
34 That eunuch said Unto Philipos, I pray thee, of whom speaketh this the prophet? of himself, or of another man?
Hoạn quan cất tiếng nói cùng Phi-líp rằng: Tôi xin hỏi ông, đấng tiên tri đã nói điều đó về ai? Có phải nói về chính mình người chăng, hay là về người nào khác?
35 Then Philipos opened his mouth and began, from that very scripture, preaching to him concerning our Lord Jeshu.
Phi-líp bèn mở miệng, bắt đầu từ chỗ Kinh Thánh đó mà rao giảng Ðức Chúa Jêsus cho người.
36 And as they went in the way they came to a certain place which had water in it, and that eunuch said, Behold the water; what is the hinderance that I should be baptized?
Hai người đương đi dọc đường, gặp chỗ có nước, hoạn quan nói rằng: Nầy, nước đây, có sự gì ngăn cấm tôi chịu phép báp-tem chăng?
Phi-líp nói: Nếu ông hết lòng tin, điều đó có thể được. Hoạn quan trả lời rằng: Tôi tin rằng Ðức Chúa Jêsus Christ là Con Ðức Chúa Trời.
38 And he commanded that the chariot should stand; and they descended both of them to the water, and Philipos baptized that eunuch.
Người biểu dừng xe lại; rồi cả hai đều xuống nước, và Phi-líp làm phép báp-tem cho hoạn quan.
39 And when they had ascended from the water, the Spirit of the Lord rapt away Philipos, and the eunuch again saw him not; but he went on his way rejoicing.
Khi ở dưới nước lên, thì Thánh Linh của Chúa đem Phi-líp đi; hoạn quan chẳng thấy người nữa, cứ hớn hở đi đường.
40 But Philipos was found at Azotos, and from thence he itinerated and evangelized in all the cities until he came to Cesarea.
Còn Phi-líp thì người ta thấy ở trong thành A-xốt; từ đó người đi đến thành Sê-sa-rê, cũng giảng Tin Lành khắp những thành nào mình đã ghé qua.
