ಇಗೋ, ದೇವರು ಬಂಡೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆಯಲಾಗಿ, ನೀರು ಚಿಮ್ಮಿ ಹೊರಟಿತು. ಹಳ್ಳಗಳು ದಡಮೀರಿ ಹರಿದವು. ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಸಹ ಕೊಡಬಲ್ಲನೋ? ತಮ್ಮ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಮಾಂಸವನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡುವನೋ?” ಎಂದರು.

ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಬೇಸರಗೊಂಡರು. ಯಾಕೋಬ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಹೊತ್ತಿತು. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ದಂಡನೆಗೆ ಒಳಗಾದರು.

ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವರು ದೇವರಲ್ಲಿ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಇಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ದೇವರ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭರವಸೆ ಇಡಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಆದರೆ ದೇವರು ಮೇಲಿರುವ ಮೇಘಗಳಿಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿ, ಆಕಾಶದ ಕದಗಳನ್ನು ತೆರೆದರು.

ಮೂಡಣ ಗಾಳಿಯನ್ನು ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸಿ, ತಮ್ಮ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಗಾಳಿಯನ್ನು ಬರಮಾಡಿದರು.

ಧೂಳಿನಂತೆ ಮಾಂಸವನ್ನು ಸುರಿಸಿದರು. ಸಮುದ್ರದ ಮರಳಿನಂತೆ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಸುರಿಸಿದರು.

ಆಗ ಅವರು ತಿಂದು ಬಹಳ ತೃಪ್ತಿಗೊಂಡರು. ಅವರು ಆಶಿಸಿದ್ದನ್ನು ದೇವರು ಕೊಟ್ಟರು.

ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಆಶೆಯನ್ನು ಬಿಡದೆ, ಅವರ ಊಟವು ಇನ್ನೂ ಅವರ ಬಾಯಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವಾಗ,

ದೇವರ ಶಿಕ್ಷೆ ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿತ್ತು. ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಬ್ಬಿದವರು ಸತ್ತರು. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಪ್ರಾಯಸ್ಥರು ಸಹ ಸತ್ತುಹೋದರು.

ಇದೆಲ್ಲಾ ಆದಾಗ್ಯೂ ಜನರು ಇನ್ನೂ ಪಾಪಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ದೇವರ ಅದ್ಭುತಗಳನ್ನು ಕಂಡರೂ ನಂಬಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಆಗ ದೇವರು ಅವರ ದಿವಸಗಳನ್ನು ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾಗಿಯೂ ಅವರ ವರ್ಷಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳವಳದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕಳೆಯ ಹೋಗಲು ಅನುಮತಿಸಿದರು.

ದೇವರು ಜನರನ್ನು ದಂಡಿಸುವಾಗೆಲ್ಲಾ ಅವರು ದೇವರನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿದರು. ಆಸಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ದೇವರ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.

ದೇವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಬಂಡೆ ಎಂದೂ ಮಹೋನ್ನತರಾದ ದೇವರು ತಮ್ಮ ವಿಮೋಚಕರೆಂದೂ ಜ್ಞಾಪಕ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.

ಅವರ ಹೃದಯವು ದೇವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಸ್ಥಿರವಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರು ದೇವರ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಂಬಿಗಸ್ತರಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಅವರು ತಿರುಗಿಬಿದ್ದು ದೇವರನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದರು. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧರಿಗೆ ಬೇಸರಗೊಳಿಸಿದರು.

ದೇವರು ನಾಶದ ದೇವದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸುತ್ತಾ ತಮ್ಮ ಬೇಸರದಿಂದಲೂ ದುಃಖದಿಂದಲೂ ಇಕ್ಕಟ್ಟುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಸುರಿಯಮಾಡಿದರು.

ಆದರೆ ಜನರು ಮಹೋನ್ನತರಾದ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿ ವಿರೋಧಿಸಿದರು; ದೇವರ ಶಾಸನಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರು ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಆಗ ದೇವರು ಯೋಸೇಫನ ಗುಡಾರವನ್ನು ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸಿ, ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮನ ಗೋತ್ರವನ್ನು ಆಯ್ದುಕೊಳ್ಳದೆ,
