For the chief musician. A psalm of David. Hear my voice, God, listen to my complaint; preserve my life from fear of my enemies.
2 to hide me from counsel be evil from scheming to work evil: wickedness
Hide me from the secret plotting of evildoers, from the commotion of the doers of iniquity.
3 which to sharpen like/as sword tongue their to tread arrow their word bitter
They have sharpened their tongues like swords; they have aimed their arrows, bitter words,
4 to/for to shoot in/on/with hiding complete suddenly to shoot him and not to fear
so that they may shoot from secret places at someone who is innocent; suddenly they shoot at him and fear nothing.
5 to strengthen: hold to/for them word: deed bad: evil to recount to/for to hide snare to say who? to see: see to/for them
They encourage themselves in an evil plan; they consult privately together in order to set traps; they say, “Who will see us?”
6 to search injustice to finish plot to search and entrails: inner parts man and heart deep
They invent sinful plans; “We have finished,” they say, “a careful plan.” The inner thoughts and hearts of man are deep.
7 and to shoot them God arrow suddenly to be wound their
But God will shoot them; suddenly they will be wounded with his arrows.
8 and to stumble him upon them tongue their to wander all to see: see in/on/with them
They will be made to stumble, since their own tongues are against them; all who see them will wag their heads.
9 and to fear: revere all man and to tell work God and deed: work his be prudent
All people will fear and will declare God's deeds. They will wisely think about what he has done.
10 to rejoice righteous in/on/with LORD and to seek refuge in/on/with him and to boast: boast all upright heart
The righteous will be glad about Yahweh and will take refuge in him; all the upright in heart will take pride in him.
