੧ਉੱਥੇ ਬਾਬਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਨਦੀਆਂ ਕੋਲ, ਅਸੀਂ ਜਾ ਬੈਠੇ, ਨਾਲੇ ਰੋਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ, ਜਦ ਅਸੀਂ ਸੀਯੋਨ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕੀਤਾ।

2 upon willow in/on/with midst her to hang lyre our

੨ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੇਦ-ਮਜਨੂੰਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਬਰਬਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੰਗ ਦਿੱਤਾ,

3 for there to ask us to take captive us word: because song and tormentor our joy to sing to/for us from song Zion

੩ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉੱਥੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਬੰਧੂਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਥੋਂ ਗੀਤ ਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਮਖ਼ੌਲ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਲ ਕੀਤਾ, ਕਿ ਦੇ ਗੀਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਓ!

੪ਅਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਪਰਾਏ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿੱਕੁਰ ਗਾਈਏ?

੫ਹੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ, ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਵਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੱਜਾ ਹੱਥ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਵੇ,

੬ਮੇਰੀ ਜੀਭ ਤਾਲੂ ਨਾਲ ਜਾ ਲੱਗੇ! ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਾ ਰੱਖਾਂ, ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਉੱਤਮ ਅਨੰਦ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਨਾ ਰੱਖਾਂ!

੭ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਅਦੋਮ ਦੇ ਵੰਸ਼ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਆਖਦੇ ਸਨ, ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਢਾਹ ਦਿਓ, ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਨੀਂਹ ਤੱਕ ਢਾਹ ਦਿਓ!

੮ਹੇ ਬਾਬਲ ਦੀਏ ਧੀਏ, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਉੱਜੜਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਧੰਨ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਬਦਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਬਦਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ!

੯ਧੰਨ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਚੱਟਾਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਟਕ ਦੇਵੇ!।
