1 stream water heart king in/on/with hand LORD upon all which to delight in to stretch him
The Lord directs the king's decisions like a stream of water that he sends whichever way he wants.
2 all way: conduct man upright in/on/with eye his and to measure heart LORD
People think that whatever they do is fine, but the Lord looks at their motives.
3 to make: do righteousness and justice to choose to/for LORD from sacrifice
Doing what's right and fair pleases the Lord more than sacrifices.
4 height eye and broad: arrogant heart lamp wicked sin
Pride and arrogance are the sins the wicked live by.
5 plot sharp surely to/for advantage and all to hasten surely to/for need
Those who plan ahead and work hard will have plenty, while those who act rashly end up poor.
6 work treasure in/on/with tongue deception vanity to drive to seek death
Money made by lies is like smoke in the wind—a chase that ends in death.
7 violence wicked to drag/chew/saw them for to refuse to/for to make: do justice
The destruction caused by the wicked will destroy them, for they refuse to do what's right.
8 crooked way: conduct man guilty and pure upright work his
Guilty people live crooked lives, but the innocent follow straight paths.
9 pleasant to/for to dwell upon corner roof from woman: wife contention and house: home fellow
It's better to live in a corner of a housetop than to share a whole house with an argumentative wife.
10 soul wicked to desire bad: evil not be gracious in/on/with eye his neighbor his
Evil people love to do wrong, they don't care what pain they cause anyone.
11 in/on/with to fine to mock be wise simple and in/on/with be prudent to/for wise to take: recieve knowledge
When a mocker is punished, an immature person can learn wisdom. When the wise are educated, they gain knowledge.
12 be prudent righteous to/for house: household wicked to pervert wicked to/for bad: evil
The God of justice sees what happens in the homes of the wicked, and brings the wicked down in disaster.
13 to shutter ear his from outcry poor also he/she/it to call: call out and not to answer
If you refuse to hear the cries of the poor, your cries won't be heard either.
14 gift in/on/with secrecy to subdue face: anger and bribe in/on/with bosom: secret rage strong
A gift given in secret calms down anger, and a hidden bribe soothes furious rage.
15 joy to/for righteous to make: do justice and terror to/for to work evil: wickedness
When justice is done, the good are happy, but it brings terror to those who do evil.
16 man to go astray from way: conduct be prudent in/on/with assembly shade to rest
Anyone who wanders away from the path of understanding ends up with the dead.
17 man need to love: lover joy to love: lover wine and oil not to enrich
If you love pleasure you'll become poor; if you love wine and olive oil you won't ever be rich.
18 ransom to/for righteous wicked and underneath: instead upright to act treacherously
The wicked pay the price and not the good; those who are deceitful and not those who live right.
19 pleasant to dwell in/on/with land: country/planet wilderness from woman (contention *Q(K)*) and vexation
It's better to live in a desert than with an argumentative and bad-tempered wife.
20 treasure to desire and oil in/on/with pasture wise and fool man to swallow up him
The wise hold on to their wealth and olive oil, but stupid people use up everything they have.
21 to pursue righteousness and kindness to find life righteousness and glory
If you pursue goodness and trustworthy love, you'll find life, prosperity, and honor.
22 city mighty man to ascend: rise wise and to go down strength confidence her
The wise can overcome a city belonging to strong warriors, and tear down the fortress they trusted to protect them.
23 to keep: guard lip his and tongue his to keep: guard from distress soul: myself his
If you watch what you say, you can save yourself a lot of trouble.
24 arrogant proud to mock name his to make: do in/on/with fury arrogance
A proud, conceited, mocker—that's the name of those who act with insolent arrogance.
25 desire sluggish to die him for to refuse hand his to/for to make: do
Slackers die hungry because they refuse to work.
26 all [the] day to desire desire and righteous to give: give and not to withhold
Some people only want more and more all the time, but the good give generously.
27 sacrifice wicked abomination also for in/on/with wickedness to come (in): bring him
The sacrifices given by the wicked are obnoxious, worse still when they're offered with evil motives.
28 witness lie to perish and man to hear: hear to/for perpetuity to speak: speak
The lies of a false witness vanish away, but the words of a reliable witness will stand.
29 be strong man wicked in/on/with face his and upright he/she/it (to understand way: conduct his *Q(K)*)
The wicked act as bold as brass, but those who live right consider carefully what they're doing.
30 nothing wisdom and nothing understanding and nothing counsel to/for before LORD
Whatever wisdom, understanding, or guidance you may have is nothing before the Lord.
31 horse to establish: prepare to/for day battle and to/for LORD [the] deliverance: victory
You can get your horse ready for battle, but the victory is the Lord's.
