Detta är Salomos Ordspråk, Davids sons, Israels Konungs;

Förstånd, klokhet, rättfärdighet, dom och fromhet;

Att de fåkunnige måga varda vise, och de ynglingar förnuftige och försigtige.
5 to hear: hear wise and to add teaching and to understand counsel to buy
Den der vis är, han hörer till, och förbättrar sig; och den der förståndig är, han tager vid råd;
6 to/for to understand proverb and mockery word wise and riddle their
Att han skall förstå ordspråk, och deras uttydelse; de visas läro, och deras gåtor.

Huru länge viljen I, fåkunnige, fåkunnige vara; och de bespottare lust hafva till gabberi, och de galne hata lärdom?

När öfver eder kommer, såsom en storm, det I frukten, och edor ofärd såsom ett väder; när öfver eder kommer ångest och nöd.

Då skola de åkalla mig, men jag skall intet svara; de skola bittida söka mig, och intet finna;

Derföre, att de hatade lärdom, och ville icke hafva Herrans fruktan;

Så skola de äta af sins väsendes frukt, och af sin råd mätte varda;
32 for faithlessness simple to kill them and ease fool to perish them
Att de fåkunnigas luste dräper dem, och de galnas lycka förgör dem.
33 and to hear: hear to/for me to dwell security and to rest from dread distress: harm
Men den mig hörer, han skall säker blifva, och nog hafva, och för intet ondt frukta.
