< Numbers 22 >
1 and to set out son: descendant/people Israel and to camp in/on/with Plains (of Moab) (Plains of) Moab from side: beyond to/for Jordan Jericho
And thei yeden forth, and settiden tentis in the feeldi places of Moab, where Jerico is set ouer Jordan.
2 and to see: see Balak son: child Zippor [obj] all which to make: do Israel to/for Amorite
Forsothe Balach, the sone of Sephor, siy alle thingis whiche Israel hadde do to Ammorrei,
3 and to dread Moab from face: because [the] people much for many he/she/it and to loathe Moab from face: because son: descendant/people Israel
and that men of Moab `hadden dred Israel, and miyten not bere the assailing of him.
4 and to say Moab to(wards) old: elder Midian now to lick [the] assembly [obj] all around us like/as to lick [the] cattle [obj] green [the] land: country and Balak son: child Zippor king to/for Moab in/on/with time [the] he/she/it
And he seide to the grettere men in birthe of Madian, So this puple schal do a wei alle men that dwellen in oure coostis, as an oxe is wont to do awei an eerbe `til to the rootis. Forsothe he, `that is, Balaac, was kyng in that tyme in Moab.
5 and to send: depart messenger to(wards) Balaam son: child Beor Pethor [to] which upon [the] River land: country/planet son: descendant/people people his to/for to call: call to to/for him to/for to say behold people to come out: come from Egypt behold to cover [obj] eye: before(the eyes) [the] land: country/planet and he/she/it to dwell from opposite me
Therfor he sente messangeris to Balaam, the sone of Beor, a fals diuynour, that dwellide on the flood of the lond of the sones of Amon, that thei schulden clepe hym, and schulden seie, Lo! a puple yede out of Egipt, `which puple hilide the face of erthe, and sittith ayens me.
6 and now to go: come! [emph?] please to curse [emph?] to/for me [obj] [the] people [the] this for mighty he/she/it from me perhaps be able to smite in/on/with him and to drive out: drive out him from [the] land: country/planet for to know [obj] which to bless to bless and which to curse to curse
Therfor come thou, and curse this puple, which is strongere than Y, if in ony maner Y may smyte and dryue hym out of my lond; for Y knowe, that he is blissid whom thou blissist, and he is cursid whom thou hast cursid.
7 and to go: went old: elder Moab and old: elder Midian and divination in/on/with hand: power their and to come (in): come to(wards) Balaam and to speak: speak to(wards) him word Balak
The eldere men of Moab and the grettere men in birthe of Madian yeden forth, hauynge in hondis the prijs of fals dyuynyng; and whanne thei hadden come to Balaam, and hadden teld to hym alle the wordis of Balaach, he answeride,
8 and to say to(wards) them to lodge here [the] night and to return: return [obj] you word like/as as which to speak: speak LORD to(wards) me and to dwell ruler Moab with Balaam
Dwelle ye here to nyyt, and Y schal answere what euer thing the Lord schal seie to me. Sotheli while thei dwelliden at Balaam, God cam, and seide to hym,
9 and to come (in): come God to(wards) Balaam and to say who? [the] human [the] these with you
What wolen these men at thee `to hem silf?
10 and to say Balaam to(wards) [the] God Balak son: child Zippor king Moab to send: depart to(wards) me
Balaam answeride, Balaach, the sone of Sephor, kyng of Moabitis, sente to me, and seide, Lo!
11 behold [the] people [the] to come out: come from Egypt and to cover [obj] eye: before(the eyes) [the] land: country/planet now to go: come! [emph?] to curse [emph?] to/for me [obj] him perhaps be able to/for to fight in/on/with him and to drive out: drive out him
a puple which is gon out of Egipt hilide the face of erthe; come thou, and curse hem, if in ony maner Y may fiyte, and dryue hym awey.
12 and to say God to(wards) Balaam not to go: went with them not to curse [obj] [the] people for to bless he/she/it
And God seide to Balaam, Nyle thou go with hem, nether curse thou the puple, for it is blessid.
13 and to arise: rise Balaam in/on/with morning and to say to(wards) ruler Balak to go: went to(wards) land: country/planet your for to refuse LORD to/for to give: allow me to/for to go: went with you
Which Balaam roos eerli, and seide to the princes, Go ye in to youre lond, for God forbeed me to come with you.
14 and to arise: rise ruler Moab and to come (in): come to(wards) Balak and to say to refuse Balaam to go: come with us
The princes turneden ayen, and seiden to Balaach, Balaam nolde come with vs.
15 and to add: again still Balak to send: depart ruler many and to honor: honour from these
Eft Balaach sente many mo and noblere men, than he hadde sent bifore;
16 and to come (in): come to(wards) Balaam and to say to/for him thus to say Balak son: child Zippor not please to withhold from to go: come to(wards) me
whiche seiden, whanne thei hadden come to Balaam, Balaach, the sone of Sephor, seith thus, Tarye thou not to come to me, redi to onoure thee;
17 for to honor: honour to honor: honour you much and all which to say to(wards) me to make: do and to go: come! [emph?] please to curse [emph?] to/for me [obj] [the] people [the] this
and what euer thing thou wolt, Y schal yyue to thee; come thou, and curse this puple.
18 and to answer Balaam and to say to(wards) servant/slave Balak if to give: give to/for me Balak fullness house: home his silver: money and gold not be able to/for to pass: trespass [obj] lip: word LORD God my to/for to make: do small or great: large
Balaam answeride, Thouy Balaach schal yyue to me his howsful of siluer and of gold, Y schal not mowe chaunge the word of my God, that Y speke ethir more ethir lesse.
19 and now to dwell please in/on/with this also you(m. p.) [the] night and to know what? to add LORD to speak: speak with me
Y biseche, that ye dwelle here also in this nyyt, that Y may wite what the Lord schal answere eft to me.
20 and to come (in): come God to(wards) Balaam night and to say to/for him if to/for to call: call to to/for you to come (in): come [the] human to arise: rise to go: went with them and surely [obj] [the] word which to speak: speak to(wards) you [obj] him to make: do
Therfor the Lord cam to Balaam in the nyyt, and seide to hym, If these men comen to clepe thee, rise thou, and go with hem, so oneli that thou do that that Y schal comaunde to thee.
21 and to arise: rise Balaam in/on/with morning and to saddle/tie [obj] she-ass his and to go: went with ruler Moab
Balaam roos eerli, and whanne his femal asse was sadelid, he yede forth with hem.
22 and to be incensed face: anger God for to go: went he/she/it and to stand messenger: angel LORD in/on/with way: journey to/for Satan to/for him and he/she/it to ride upon she-ass his and two youth his with him
And God was wrooth. And the `aungel of the Lord stood in the weie ayens Balam, that sat on the femal asse, and hadde twei children with hym.
23 and to see: see [the] she-ass [obj] messenger: angel LORD to stand in/on/with way: road and sword his to draw in/on/with hand: power his and to stretch [the] she-ass from [the] way: road and to go: went in/on/with land: country and to smite Balaam [obj] [the] she-ass to/for to stretch her [the] way: road
The femal asse siy the aungel stondynge in the weie, with swerd drawun, and `turnede a wei hir silf fro the weie, and yede bi the feeld. And whanne Balaam beet hir, and wolde lede ayen to the path,
24 and to stand: stand messenger: angel LORD in/on/with passage [the] vineyard wall from this and wall from this
the aungel stood in the streitnessis of twei wallis, with whiche the vyneris weren cumpassid.
25 and to see: see [the] she-ass [obj] messenger: angel LORD and to oppress to(wards) [the] wall and to oppress [obj] foot Balaam to(wards) [the] wall and to add: again to/for to smite her
And the femal asse siy the aungel, and ioynede hir silf to the wal, and hurtlide the foot of the sittere; and he beet eft `the asse.
26 and to add messenger: angel LORD to pass and to stand: stand in/on/with place narrow which nothing way: journey to/for to stretch right and left
And neuer the lesse the aungel yede to the streit place, where me `myyte not go out of the weie, nether to the riyt side nether to the left side, and stood ayens hym.
27 and to see: see [the] she-ass [obj] messenger: angel LORD and to stretch underneath: under Balaam and to be incensed face: anger Balaam and to smite [obj] [the] she-ass in/on/with rod
And whanne the femal asse siy the aungel stondynge, sche felde doun vndir the feet of the sittere, which was wrooth ful greetli, and beet hir sidis with a staaf.
28 and to open LORD [obj] lip [the] she-ass and to say to/for Balaam what? to make: do to/for you for to smite me this three foot
And the Lord openyde the `mouth of the femal asse, and sche spak, What have Y doon to thee? whi smytist thou me, lo! now the thridde tyme?
29 and to say Balaam to/for she-ass for to abuse in/on/with me if there sword in/on/with hand my for now to kill you
Balaam answeride, For thou hast disserued, and hast scornyd me; Y wolde that Y hadde a swerd to sle thee.
30 and to say [the] she-ass to(wards) Balaam not I she-ass your which to ride upon me from still your till [the] day [the] this be useful be useful to/for to make: do to/for you thus and to say not
And the femal asse seide, Whether Y am not thi beeste on which thou were wont to sitte euere til in to this present dai? seie thou, what lijk thing Y dide euere to thee? And he seide, Neuere.
31 and to reveal: uncover LORD [obj] eye Balaam and to see: see [obj] messenger: angel LORD to stand in/on/with way: journey and sword his to draw in/on/with hand his and to bow and to bow to/for face his
Anoon the Lord openyde `the iyen of Balaam, and he siy the aungel stondynge in the weie, holdynge a drawun swerd in the hoond; and Balaam worschipide hym lowli in to erthe.
32 and to say to(wards) him messenger: angel LORD upon what? to smite [obj] she-ass your this three foot behold I to come out: come to/for Satan for to push [the] way: conduct to/for before me
To whom the aungel seide, Whi `betist thou thi femal asse `the thridde tyme? Y cam to be aduersarie to thee, for thi weie is weiward, and contrarye to me;
33 and to see: see me [the] she-ass and to stretch to/for face: before my this three foot perhaps to stretch from face: before my for now also [obj] you to kill and [obj] her to live
and if the femal asse hadde not bowid a wey fro the weie, and youe place to ayenstondere, Y hadde slayn thee, and sche schulde lyue.
34 and to say Balaam to(wards) messenger: angel LORD to sin for not to know for you(m. s.) to stand to/for to encounter: toward me in/on/with way: road and now if be evil in/on/with eye: seeing your to return: return to/for me
Balaam seide, Y synnede, not witynge that thou stodist ayens me; and now, if it displesith thee that Y go, Y schal turne ayen.
35 and to say messenger: angel LORD to(wards) Balaam to go: went with [the] human and end [obj] [the] word which to speak: speak to(wards) you [obj] him to speak: speak and to go: went Balaam with ruler Balak
The aungel seide, Go thou with these men, but be war that thou speke not other thing than Y schal comaunde to thee. Therfor Balaam yede with the princes.
36 and to hear: hear Balak for to come (in): come Balaam and to come out: come to/for to encounter: meet him to(wards) city Moab which upon border: boundary Arnon which in/on/with end [the] border: boundary
And whanne Balaach hadde herde this, he yede out in to the comyng of hym, in the citee of Moabitis, whiche is set in the laste coostis of Arnon.
37 and to say Balak to(wards) Balaam not to send: depart to send: depart to(wards) you to/for to call: call to to/for you to/for what? not to go: come to(wards) me truly not be able to honor: honour you
And he seide to Balaam, Y sente messangeris to clepe thee; whi camest thou not anoon to me? whethir for Y may not yelde meede to thi comyng?
38 and to say Balaam to(wards) Balak behold to come (in): come to(wards) you now be able be able to speak: speak anything [the] word which to set: put God in/on/with lip my [obj] him to speak: speak
To whom Balaam answeride, Lo! Y am present, whethir Y schal mow speke other thing than that, that God schal putte in my mouth?
39 and to go: went Balaam with Balak and to come (in): come Kiriath-huzoth Kiriath-huzoth
Therfor thei yeden forth to gidere, and camen in to a citee, which was in the laste coost of `his rewme.
40 and to sacrifice Balak cattle and flock and to send: depart to/for Balaam and to/for ruler which with him
And whanne Balaach hadde slayn scheep and oxun, he sente yiftis to Balaam and the princes that weren with hym.
41 and to be in/on/with morning and to take: take Balak [obj] Balaam and to ascend: establish him Bamoth (Bamoth)-baal and to see: see from there end [the] people
Forsothe whanne the morewtid was maad, Balaach ledde Balaam to the hiye placis of Baal, and he bihelde the laste part of the puple, `that is, al the oost til to the laste part.
