Luke 24

Mais le premier jour de la semaine, elles vinrent de grand matin au sépulcre, apportant les parfums qu’elles avaient préparés;

Et elles trouvèrent la pierre ôtée du sépulcre.

Or voici que deux d’entre eux allaient ce même jour à un village nommé Emmaüs, qui était à la distance de soixante stades de Jérusalem.

Et ils s’entretenaient de tout ce qui s’était passé.

Et il arriva, que pendant qu’ils discouraient et conféraient ensemble, Jésus lui-même s’étant approché, marchait avec eux.

Mais leurs yeux étaient retenus de peur qu’ils ne le reconnussent.

Et il leur dit: Quels sont ces discours que vous tenez ainsi en marchant, et pourquoi êtes-vous tristes?

Et l’un d’eux, nommé Cléophas, répondant, lui dit: Es-tu seul si étranger dans Jérusalem, que tu ne saches point ce qui s’y est passé ces jours-ci?

Et comment les princes des prêtres et nos chefs l’ont livré pour être condamné à mort et l’ont crucifié:

Pour nous, nous espérions que c’était lui qui devait racheter Israël: et cependant, après tout cela, voici déjà le troisième jour que ces choses sont arrivées.

À la vérité, quelques femmes qui sont des nôtres nous ont effrayés; car étant allées avant le jour au sépulcre,

Et n’ayant point trouvé son corps, elles sont venues disant qu’elles ont vu des anges même qui disent qu’il est vivant.

Quelques-uns des nôtres sont allés aussi au sépulcre, et ont trouvé toutes choses comme les femmes l’ont dit; mais lui, ils ne l’ont pas trouvé.

Alors il leur dit: Ô insensés et lents de cœur à croire tout ce qu’ont dit les prophètes!

Ne fallait-il pas que le Christ souffrît ces choses, et entrât ainsi dans sa gloire?

Et commençant par Moïse, et par tous les prophètes, il leur interprétait dans toutes les Ecritures ce qui le concernait.

Cependant ils approchèrent du village où ils allaient; et Jésus feignit d’aller plus loin.

Mais ils le pressèrent, disant: Demeure avec nous, car il se fait tard, et déjà le jour est sur son déclin. Et il entra avec eux.

Or il arriva, pendant qu’il était à table avec eux, qu’il prit le pain, le bénit, le rompit, et il le leur présentait.

Alors leurs yeux s’ouvrirent, et ils le reconnurent: et il disparut de devant leurs yeux.

Et ils se dirent l’un à l’autre: Notre cœur n’était-il pas tout brûlant au dedans de nous, lorsqu’il nous parlait dans le chemin, et nous ouvrait le sens des Ecritures?

Puis se levant à l’heure même, ils retournèrent à Jérusalem, et ils trouvèrent les onze assemblés, et ceux qui étaient avec eux,

Et disant: Le Seigneur est vraiment ressuscité, et il est apparu à Simon.

Et eux, à leur tour, racontèrent ce qui leur était arrivé en chemin, et comment ils l’avaient reconnu à la fraction du pain.

Or, pendant qu’ils s’entretenaient ainsi, Jésus parut au milieu d’eux, et leur dit: Paix à vous! c’est moi: ne craignez point.

Mais eux, troublés et épouvantés, croyaient voir un esprit.

Et il leur dit: Pourquoi êtes-vous troublés, et pourquoi ces pensées s’élèvent-elles dans vos cœurs?

Et lorsqu’il eut dit cela, il leur montra ses mains et ses pieds.

Mais eux ne croyant point encore, et étant transportés d’admiration et de joie, il dit: Avez-vous ici quelque chose à manger?

Et ils lui présentèrent un morceau de poisson rôti et un rayon de miel.

Or, lorsqu’il eut mangé devant eux, prenant les restes, il les leur donna.

Puis il leur dit: Voilà ce que je vous ai dit, lorsque j’étais encore avec vous: qu’il fallait que fût accompli tout ce qui est écrit de moi dans la loi de Moïse, dans les prophètes et dans les psaumes.

Alors il leur ouvrit l’esprit, pour qu’ils comprissent les Ecritures;

Et il leur dit: Il est ainsi écrit, et c’est ainsi qu’il fallait que le Christ souffrît, et qu’il ressuscitât d’entre les morts le troisième jour;

Et qu’on prêchât en son nom la pénitence et la rémission des péchés à toutes les nations, en commençant par Jérusalem.

Pour vous, vous êtes témoins de ces choses.

Et moi, je vais vous envoyer le don promis de mon Père. Vous, demeurez dans la ville, jusqu’à ce que vous soyez revêtus de la force d’en haut.

Puis il les mena du côté de Béthanie; et les mains levées, il les bénit.

Et il arriva que, pendant qu’il les bénissait, il s’éloigna d’eux, et s’éleva au ciel.

Et eux, l’ayant adoré, revinrent à Jérusalem avec une grande joie.

Et ils étaient toujours dans le temple, louant et bénissant Dieu. Amen.
