Remember, O Yahweh, what hath befallen us, Look around, and see our reproach:
2 inheritance our to overturn to/for be a stranger house: home our to/for foreign
Our inheritance, turned over to foreigners, our houses, to aliens.
3 orphan to be (and nothing *Q(K)*) father mother our like/as widow
Orphans, have we become, and fatherless, our mothers, are widows indeed.
4 water our in/on/with silver: price to drink tree: wood our in/on/with price to come (in): bring
Our water—for silver, have we drunk, our wood—for a price, cometh in.
5 upon neck our to pursue be weary/toil (and not *Q(K)*) to rest to/for us
Upon our necks, are our pursuers, We labour, and there is allowed us no rest.
6 Egypt to give: give hand: power Assyria to/for to satisfy food: bread
To Egypt, have we stretched out our hand, to Assyria, to be satisfied with bread.
7 father our to sin (and nothing they and we *Q(K)*) iniquity: crime their to bear
Our fathers, sinned, and are not, and, we, their iniquities, have borne.
8 servant/slave to rule in/on/with us to tear nothing from hand: power their
Slaves, have ruled over us, There is none to set free from their hand.
9 in/on/with soul: life our to come (in): bring food: bread our from face: because sword [the] wilderness
At the risk of our life, do we bring in our bread, because of the sword of the desert.
10 skin our like/as oven to grow warm from face: because scorching famine
Our skin, as with a furnace, is scorched, because of the hot winds of famine.
11 woman in/on/with Zion to afflict virgin in/on/with city Judah
Women—in Zion, were ravished, virgins, in the cities of Judah!
12 ruler in/on/with hand their to hang face: kindness old: elder not to honor
Princes, by their hand, have been hanged, The faces of elders, not honoured.
13 youth grinding to lift: raise and youth in/on/with tree: wood to stumble
Young men, a millstone, have lifted, and, youths, under wood, have staggered.
14 old from gate to cease youth from music their
Elders, from the gates, have ceased. Young men, from their music.
15 to cease rejoicing heart our to overturn to/for mourning dance our
Ceased hath the joy of our hearts, Changed to mourning, our dance.
16 to fall: fall crown head our woe! please to/for us for to sin
Fallen is the crown of our head. Surely woe to us, for we have sinned.
17 upon this to be sick heart our upon these to darken eye our
For this cause, faint is our heart, For these things, dimmed are our eyes:
18 upon mountain: mount Zion which/that be desolate: destroyed fox to go: walk in/on/with him
Because of Mount Zion, which is desolate, jackals, have gone prowling therein.
19 you(m. s.) LORD to/for forever: enduring to dwell throne your to/for generation and generation
Thou, O Yahweh, unto times age-abiding, dost remain, Thy throne, from generation to generation:
20 to/for what? to/for perpetuity to forget us to leave: forsake us to/for length day
Wherefore shouldst thou perpetually forget us? forsake us, to length of days?
21 to return: rescue us LORD to(wards) you (and to return: rescue *Q(K)*) to renew day our like/as front: old
Bring us back, O Yahweh, unto thyself, and we will come back! Renew our days, as of old;
22 that if: except if: except to reject to reject us be angry upon us till much
For though thou hast not, utterly rejected, us, thou art wroth with us—exceedingly!
