Judges 12

ইফ্রয়িমীয় বাহিনীকে আহ্বান করা হল, এবং তারা জর্ডন নদী পার হয়ে সাফোনে গেল। তারা যিপ্তহকে বলল, “তোমার সঙ্গে যাওয়ার জন্য আমাদের না ডেকে তুমি কেন অম্মোনীয়দের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করতে গেলে? আমরা তোমাকে সুদ্ধ তোমার বাড়িঘর আগুনে পুড়িয়ে দেব।”

যিপ্তহ উত্তর দিলেন, “আমি ও আমার লোকজন অম্মোনীয়দের সঙ্গে মহাযুদ্ধে লিপ্ত হয়েছিলাম, আর যদিও আমি তোমাদের ডেকেছিলাম, তোমরা তাদের হাত থেকে আমাকে রক্ষা করোনি।

আমি যখন দেখলাম যে তোমরা সাহায্য করবে না, তখন আমি প্রাণ হাতে করে অম্মোনীয়দের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করার জন্য ওপারে গেলাম, এবং সদাপ্রভু তাদের উপরে আমাকে বিজয়ী করেছেন। তাই আজ কেন তোমরা আমার সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করতে এসেছ?”
