Joshua 20

ഇതിനുശേഷം യഹോവ യോശുവയോട് ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു:

“ഞാൻ മോശയിൽക്കൂടി ഇസ്രായേൽമക്കളോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചപ്രകാരം, അഭയസ്ഥാനമായിരിക്കേണ്ട പട്ടണങ്ങൾ നിശ്ചയിക്കാൻ നീ ഇസ്രായേൽമക്കളോടു പറയുക.

3 to/for to flee there [to] to murder to smite soul: person in/on/with unintentionally in/on/with without knowledge and to be to/for you to/for refuge from to redeem: avenge [the] blood

അവിചാരിതമായോ അബദ്ധവശാലോ ഒരാളെ കൊന്ന ഒരു വ്യക്തി അവിടേക്ക് ഓടിപ്പോയി രക്തപ്രതികാരകനിൽനിന്നു രക്ഷനേടാനായിട്ടാണ് ഈ ക്രമീകരണം.

ഈ പട്ടണങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നിലേക്കോടിച്ചെല്ലുന്ന വ്യക്തി പട്ടണകവാടത്തിൽ നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു കാര്യത്തിന്റെ നിജസ്ഥിതി പട്ടണത്തലവന്മാരെ അറിയിക്കണം. അങ്ങനെ ഗോത്രത്തലവന്മാർ ആ മനുഷ്യനെ പട്ടണത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിപ്പിച്ച്, തങ്ങളുടെകൂടെ പാർക്കേണ്ടതിനു സ്ഥലം കൊടുക്കുകയും വേണം.

രക്തപ്രതികാരകൻ ആ മനുഷ്യനെ പിൻതുടർന്നുചെന്നാൽ, കുറ്റവാളി മനഃപൂർവമല്ലാതെയും പൂർവവൈരമില്ലാതെയും തന്റെ അയൽവാസിയെ കൊന്നുപോയതാകുകയാൽ, ഗോത്രത്തലവന്മാർ ആ മനുഷ്യനെ വിട്ടുകൊടുക്കരുത്.

അവൻ സഭയുടെമുമ്പാകെയുള്ള വിസ്താരം തീരുംവരെയോ അന്നത്തെ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ മരണംവരെയോ ആ പട്ടണത്തിൽ പാർക്കണം. അതിനുശേഷം അവന്, താൻ വിട്ടോടിപ്പോന്ന പട്ടണത്തിലെ സ്വന്തഭവനത്തിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകാം.”

യെരീഹോവിലെ യോർദാൻനദിയുടെ കിഴക്കുവശത്തുള്ള മരുഭൂമിയിൽ രൂബേൻഗോത്രത്തിലെ പീഠഭൂമിയിലുള്ള ബേസെർ, ഗാദ്ഗോത്രത്തിലെ ഗിലെയാദിലുള്ള രാമോത്ത്, മനശ്ശെഗോത്രത്തിലെ ബാശാനിലുള്ള ഗോലാൻ എന്നീ പട്ടണങ്ങൾ വേർതിരിച്ചു.

ഇസ്രായേൽമക്കളിൽ ആരെങ്കിലുമോ അവരുടെയിടയിൽ താമസിച്ച പ്രവാസികളിൽ ആരെങ്കിലുമോ അബദ്ധവശാൽ ഒരാളെ കൊന്നുപോയാൽ ഈ പട്ടണങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നിലേക്കോടിപ്പോകാനും, സഭയുടെമുമ്പാകെയുള്ള വിസ്താരം തീരുന്നതുവരെ രക്തപ്രതികാരകനാൽ വധിക്കപ്പെടാതിരിക്കാനുമാണ് ഈ ക്രമീകരണം.
