< Joshua 18 >
1 and to gather all congregation son: descendant/people Israel Shiloh and to dwell there [obj] tent meeting and [the] land: country/planet to subdue to/for face: before their
The Israeli people captured all the land [that they were able to], but there were still seven tribes that had not been allotted any land. The Israeli people all gathered at Shiloh, and they set up the Sacred Tent there.
2 and to remain in/on/with son: descendant/people Israel which not to divide [obj] inheritance their seven tribe
3 and to say Joshua to(wards) son: descendant/people Israel till where? you(m. p.) to slacken to/for to come (in): come to/for to possess: take [obj] [the] land: country/planet which to give: give to/for you LORD God father your
Joshua said to them, “Why are you waiting a long time to take control of [the rest of] the land that Yahweh, the God whom your ancestors [worshiped], has promised to give to you [RHQ]?
4 to give to/for you three human to/for tribe and to send: depart them and to arise: establish and to go: walk in/on/with land: country/planet and to write [obj] her to/for lip: according inheritance their and to come (in): come to(wards) me
Choose three men from each of your seven tribes. Then I will send them to explore [the parts of] the land [which you have not occupied yet. When they finish exploring it], they must write a report, in which they will (make a map/show the boundaries) of the land that each tribe wants to receive.
5 and to divide [obj] her to/for seven portion Judah to stand: stand upon border: area his from south and house: household Joseph to stand: stand upon border: area their from north
They will divide the remaining land into seven parts. The tribe of Judah will keep its land in the south, and the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh will keep their land in the north.
6 and you(m. p.) to write [obj] [the] land: country/planet seven portion and to come (in): bring to(wards) me here/thus and to shoot to/for you allotted here to/for face: before LORD God our
But in their report, the men from the seven tribes should describe the seven parts of the remaining land [that they wish to receive], and bring the report to me. While Yahweh is watching, I will (cast lots/throw marked stones) [to decide which land should be allotted to each tribe].
7 for nothing portion to/for Levi in/on/with entrails: among your for priesthood LORD inheritance his and Gad and Reuben and half tribe [the] Manasseh to take: recieve inheritance their from side: beyond to/for Jordan east [to] which to give: give to/for them Moses servant/slave LORD
But the tribe of Levi will not be allotted any land, because their [reward is that they will be] Yahweh’s priests. The tribes of Gad, Reuben, and half the tribe of Manasseh have already been allotted their land on the east side of the Jordan [River], just as Moses, the man who served God [well], decided, [so they will not get any more land].”
8 and to arise: rise [the] human and to go: went and to command Joshua [obj] [the] to go: went to/for to write [obj] [the] land: country/planet to/for to say to go: went and to go: walk in/on/with land: country/planet and to write [obj] her and to return: return to(wards) me and here to throw to/for you allotted to/for face: before LORD in/on/with Shiloh
When the men who were chosen [got ready to] leave, Joshua told them, “Go and explore the land. Then write a report of what you have seen, and bring it back to me. Then while Yahweh is watching, I will (cast lots/throw marked stones) here at Shiloh, [to determine what area each tribe will receive].”
9 and to go: went [the] human and to pass in/on/with land: country/planet and to write her to/for city to/for seven portion upon scroll: book and to come (in): come to(wards) Joshua to(wards) [the] camp Shiloh
So the men left and walked through the area. Then they described in a scroll each town that was in the seven parts [into which they had divided] the land. Then they returned to Joshua, who was still at Shiloh.
10 and to throw to/for them Joshua allotted in/on/with Shiloh to/for face: before LORD and to divide there Joshua [obj] [the] land: country/planet to/for son: descendant/people Israel like/as division their
[After Joshua read their report], while Yahweh was watching, he (cast lots/threw marked stones) to choose which land would be allotted to each of the seven Israeli tribes.
11 and to ascend: rise allotted tribe son: descendant/people Benjamin to/for family their and to come out: casting(lot) border: area allotted their between son: descendant/people Judah and between son: descendant/people Joseph
The first tribe that was allotted land was the tribe of Benjamin. Each clan in that tribe was allotted some of the land that was between the area that was allotted to the tribe of Judah and the area that was allotted to the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh.
12 and to be to/for them [the] border: boundary to/for side north [to] from [the] Jordan and to ascend: rise [the] border: boundary to(wards) shoulder Jericho from north and to ascend: rise in/on/with mountain: hill country sea: west [to] (and to be *Q(K)*) outgoing his wilderness [to] Beth-aven Beth-aven
The northern border started at the Jordan [River] and extended west along the northern side of Jericho, into the hilly area. From there the border extended west to the desert near Beth-Aven [town].
13 and to pass from there [the] border: boundary Luz [to] to(wards) shoulder Luz [to] south [to] he/she/it Bethel Bethel and to go down [the] border: boundary Ataroth-addar Ataroth-addar upon [the] mountain: mount which from south to/for (Lower) Beth-horon (Lower) Beth-horon Lower (Beth Horon)
From there it extended southwest to Luz (which is [now named] Bethel). From there it extended southwest to Ataroth-Addar [town], which is on the hill south of Lower Beth-Horon [city].
14 and to border [the] border: boundary and to turn: turn to/for side sea: west south [to] from [the] mountain: mount which upon face: surface Beth-horon Beth-horon south [to] (and to be *Q(K)*) outgoing his to(wards) Kiriath-baal Kiriath-baal he/she/it Kiriath-jearim Kiriath-jearim city son: descendant/people Judah this side sea: west
At the hill south of Beth-Horon, the border turned and extended south to Kiriath-Baal [town], which is [also named] Kiriath-Jearim. That is a town where people of the tribe of Judah live. That was the western border of the land allotted to the tribe of Benjamin.
15 and side south [to] from end Kiriath-jearim Kiriath-jearim and to come out: extends [the] border: boundary sea: west [to] and to come out: extends to(wards) spring water Nephtoah
The southern border of their land started near Kiriath-Jearim and extended west to Nephtoah Springs.
16 and to go down [the] border: boundary to(wards) end [the] mountain: mount which upon face: surface Valley son: child (Topheth of son of) Hinnom which in/on/with Valley (of Rephaim) (Valley of) Rephaim north [to] and to go down Valley (Topheth of) Hinnom to(wards) shoulder [the] Jebusite south [to] and to go down En-rogel En-rogel
From there it extended south to the bottom of the hill, near Ben-Hinnom Valley, on the north side of Repha Valley. The border extended south along the Hinnom Valley, south of the city where the Jebus people-group lived, to En-Rogel.
17 and to border from north and to come out: extends En-shemesh En-shemesh and to come out: extends to(wards) Geliloth which before ascent Adummim and to go down stone Bohan son: child Reuben
From there the border extended west to En-Shemesh, and continued to Geliloth near Adummim Pass. Then it extended to the great stone of Reuben’s son Bohan.
18 and to pass to(wards) shoulder opposite [the] (Beth)-arabah north [to] and to go down [the] (Beth)-arabah [to]
From there the border extended to the northern edge of Beth-Arabah [town] and down into the Jordan [River] Valley.
19 and to pass [the] border: boundary to(wards) shoulder Beth-hoglah Beth-hoglah north [to] (and to be outgoing *Q(K)*) [the] border: boundary to(wards) tongue: bar sea [the] Salt (Sea) north [to] to(wards) end [the] Jordan south [to] this border: boundary south
From there it extended east to the northern edge of Beth-Hoglah [town] and ended at the north end of the Dead Sea, where the Jordan [River flows into the Dead Sea]. That was the southern boundary [of the land allotted to the tribe of Benjamin].
20 and [the] Jordan to border [obj] him to/for side east [to] this inheritance son: descendant/people Benjamin to/for border her around to/for family their
The Jordan [River] was the eastern boundary of the land allotted to the tribe of Benjamin. Those were the boundaries of the land allotted to them.
21 and to be [the] city to/for tribe son: descendant/people Benjamin to/for family their Jericho and Beth-hoglah Beth-hoglah and Emek (Emek)-keziz
The cities in the land allotted to the tribe of Benjamin were Jericho, Beth-Hoglah, Emek-Keziz,
22 and Beth-arabah [the] Beth-arabah and (Mount) Zemaraim and Bethel Bethel
Beth-Arabah, Zemaraim, Bethel,
23 and [the] Avvim and [the] Parah and Ophrah
Avvim, Parah, Ophrah,
24 and Chephar ([the] (Chephar)-ammoni *Q(K)*) and [the] Ophni and Geba city two ten and village their
Kephar-Ammoni, Ophni, and Geba. Altogether there were fourteen towns and the surrounding villages.
25 Gibeon and [the] Ramah and Beeroth
The tribe of Benjamin also had the towns of Gibeon, Ramah, Beeroth,
26 and [the] Mizpeh and [the] Chephirah and [the] Mozah
Mizpah, Kephirah, Mozah,
27 and Rekem and Irpeel and Taralah
Rekem, Irpeel, Taralah,
28 and Zela Haeleph and [the] Jebus he/she/it Jerusalem Gibeah Kiriath-jearim city four ten and village their this inheritance son: descendant/people Benjamin to/for family their
Zelah, Haeleph, the city where the Jebus people-group lived (which is [now named] Jerusalem), Gibeah, and Kiriath. Altogether there were 14 towns and the surrounding villages. All that area was allotted to the clans of the tribe of Benjamin.
