Jonah 3

Untuk kedua kalinya TUHAN berbicara kepada Yunus.

Kata-Nya, "Pergilah ke Niniwe, kota besar itu, dan sampaikanlah kepada rakyatnya, pesan yang Kuberikan kepadamu."

Maka Yunus mentaati TUHAN dan pergi ke Niniwe, sebuah kota yang besar sekali; sehingga diperlukan tiga hari untuk melintasinya.

Yunus memasuki kota itu dan sesudah berjalan sepanjang hari, ia mulai berkhotbah, katanya, "Empat puluh hari lagi, Niniwe akan hancur!"

Penduduk Niniwe percaya kepada pesan Allah itu. Seluruh rakyat memutuskan untuk berpuasa, dan semua orang, baik besar maupun kecil, memakai kain karung untuk menunjukkan bahwa mereka menyesali dosa-dosa mereka.
6 and to touch [the] word to(wards) king Nineveh and to arise: rise from throne his and to pass: bring clothing his from upon him and to cover sackcloth and to dwell upon [the] ashes
Waktu raja Niniwe mendengar kabar itu, ia segera turun dari takhtanya. Dilepaskannya jubah kerajaannya dan dipakainya kain karung, lalu duduklah ia di atas abu.
7 and to cry out and to say in/on/with Nineveh from taste [the] king and great: large his to/for to say [the] man and [the] animal [the] cattle and [the] flock not to perceive anything not to pasture and water not to drink
Ia juga menyiarkan maklumat ini, "Perintah ini dikeluarkan di Niniwe atas keputusan raja dan para menteri: Semua orang, sapi, domba dan ternak lainnya dilarang makan dan minum.
8 and to cover sackcloth [the] man and [the] animal and to call: call to to(wards) God in/on/with force and to return: repent man: anyone from way: conduct his [the] distress: evil and from [the] violence which in/on/with palm their
Manusia dan binatang harus memakai kain karung. Sebagai tanda penyesalan semua orang harus berdoa dengan sungguh-sungguh kepada Allah. Mereka harus memperbaiki kelakuannya yang jahat dan perbuatannya yang penuh dosa.

Barangkali Allah akan mengubah niat-Nya dan tidak marah lagi sehingga kita tidak jadi binasa!"
10 and to see: see [the] God [obj] deed their for to return: repent from way: conduct their [the] distress: evil and to be sorry: relent [the] God upon [the] distress: harm which to speak: speak to/for to make: do to/for them and not to make: do
Allah melihat perbuatan mereka; Ia melihat bahwa mereka telah meninggalkan kelakuan mereka yang jahat. Maka Ia mengubah keputusan-Nya, dan tidak jadi menghukum mereka.
