< Job 38 >

1 and to answer LORD [obj] Job (from *Q(K)*) ([the] tempest *Q(k)*) and to say
Then spake Jehovah to Job out of the whirlwind, and said:
2 who? this to darken counsel in/on/with speech without knowledge
Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?
3 to gird please like/as great man loin your and to ask you and to know me
Gird up thy loins like a man! I will ask thee, and answer thou me!
4 where? to be in/on/with to found I land: country/planet to tell if to know understanding
Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding!
5 who? to set: make measurement her for to know or who? to stretch upon her line
Who fixed its dimensions, that thou shouldst know it! Or who stretched out the line upon it?
6 upon what? socket her to sink or who? to shoot stone corner her
Upon what were its foundations fixed? And who laid its corner-stone,
7 in/on/with to sing unitedness star morning and to shout all son: child God
When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
8 and to fence in/on/with door sea in/on/with to burst/come out he from womb to come out: produce
And who shut up the sea with doors, When it burst forth as from the womb?
9 in/on/with to set: make I cloud clothing his and cloud swaddling his
When I made the clouds its mantle, And thick darkness its swaddling-band;
10 and to break upon him statute: allotment my and to set: make bar and door
When I appointed for it my bound, And fixed for it bars and doors;
11 and to say till here to come (in): come and not to add and here to set: appoint in/on/with pride heap: wave your
And said, Thus far shalt thou come, and no farther, And here shall thy proud waves be stayed!
12 from day your to command morning (to know [the] dawn *Q(K)*) place his
Hast thou, in thy life, given charge to the morning, Or caused the day-spring to know its place,
13 to/for to grasp in/on/with wing [the] land: country/planet and to shake wicked from her
That it should lay hold of the ends of the earth, And shake the wicked out of it?
14 to overturn like/as homer signet and to stand like clothing
It is changed as clay by the seal; And all things stand forth as in rich apparel.
15 and to withhold from wicked light their and arm to exalt to break
But from the wicked their light is withheld, And the high-raised arm is broken.
16 to come (in): come till spring sea and in/on/with search abyss to go: walk
Hast thou visited the springs of the sea, And walked through the recesses of the deep?
17 to reveal: reveal to/for you gate death and gate shadow to see: see
Have the gates of death been disclosed to thee, And hast thou seen the gates of the shadow of death?
18 to understand till breadth land: country/planet to tell if to know all her
Hast thou surveyed the breadth of the earth? Declare, if thou knowest it all!
19 where? this [the] way: direction to dwell light and darkness where? this place his
Where is the way to the abode of light? And darkness—where is its dwelling-place?
20 for to take: take him to(wards) border: area his and for to understand path house: home his
That thou shouldst lead it to its boundary, And that thou shouldst know the paths to its mansion!
21 to know for then to beget and number day your many
Surely thou knowest; for thou wast then born! And the number of thy years is great!
22 to come (in): come to(wards) treasure snow and treasure hail to see: see
Hast thou visited the storehouses of the snow, Or seen the treasuries of the hail,
23 which to withhold to/for time distress to/for day battle and battle
Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, —Against the day of battle and war?
24 where? this [the] way: direction to divide light to scatter east upon land: country/planet
What is the way to where light is distributed, And the east wind spread abroad upon the earth?
25 who? to divide to/for flood conduit and way: road to/for lightning voice: thunder
Who hath prepared channels for the rain, And a path for the thunder-flash,
26 to/for to rain upon land: country/planet not man: anyone wilderness not man in/on/with him
To give rain to the land without an inhabitant, To the wilderness wherein is no man;
27 to/for to satisfy devastation and desolation and to/for to spring exit grass
To satisfy the desolate and waste ground, And cause the tender herb to spring forth?
28 there to/for rain father or who? to beget drop dew
Hath the rain a father? Or who hath begotten the drops of the dew?
29 from belly: womb who? to come out: come [the] ice and frost heaven who? to beget him
Out of whose womb came the ice? And who hath gendered the hoar-frost of heaven?
30 like/as stone water to hide and face: surface abyss to capture
The waters are hid as under stone, And the face of the deep becometh solid.
31 to conspire bond Pleiades or cord Orion to open
Canst thou fasten the bands of the Pleiades, Or loosen the chains of Orion?
32 to come out: send Mazzaroth in/on/with time his and Bear upon son: child her to lead them
Canst thou lead forth the Signs in their season, Or guide the Bear with her sons?
33 to know statute heaven if: surely no to set: make rule his in/on/with land: country/planet
Knowest thou the ordinances of the heavens? Hast thou appointed their dominion over the earth?
34 to exalt to/for cloud voice your and abundance water to cover you
Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, So that abundance of waters will cover thee?
35 to send: depart lightning and to go: went and to say to/for you look! we
Canst thou send forth lightnings, so that they will go, And say to thee, “Here we are”?
36 who? to set: put in/on/with inner parts wisdom or who? to give: give to/for heart understanding
Who hath put understanding in the reins, And given intelligence to the mind?
37 who? to recount cloud in/on/with wisdom and bag heaven who? to lie down: lay down
Who numbereth the clouds in wisdom? And who poureth out the bottles of heaven,
38 in/on/with to pour: pour dust to/for casting and clod to cleave
When the dust floweth into a molten mass, And the clods cleave fast together?
39 to hunt to/for lion prey and living thing lion to fill
Canst thou hunt prey for the lioness, Or satisfy the hunger of the young lions,
40 for to bow in/on/with habitation to dwell in/on/with booth upon ambush
When they couch in their dens, And lie in wait in the thicket?
41 who? to establish: prepare to/for raven food his for (youth his *Q(K)*) to(wards) God to cry to go astray to/for without food
Who provideth for the raven his food, When his young ones cry unto God, While they wander about without food?
