< Jeremiah 48 >

1 to/for Moab thus to say LORD Hosts God Israel woe! to(wards) Nebo for to ruin be ashamed to capture Kiriathaim be ashamed [the] Misgab and to to be dismayed
Against Moab. Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Woe unto Nebo! for it is wasted; made ashamed, captured is Kiryathayim; made ashamed is Misgab and dismayed.
2 nothing still praise Moab in/on/with Heshbon to devise: devise upon her distress: harm to go: follow and to cut: eliminate her from nation also Madmen to silence: silent after you to go: follow sword
There is no more praise of Moab: in Cheshbon have they devised evil against it, “Come, and let us cut it off from being a nation.” Also thou Madmen shalt be ruined; after thee shall pursue the sword.
3 voice cry from Horonaim violence and breaking great: large
There is a voice of crying from Choronayim, destruction and a great breach.
4 to break Moab to hear: proclaim outcry (little her *Q(K)*)
Broken down is Moab: her little ones send forth a cry of distress.
5 for ascent ([the] Luhith *Q(K)*) in/on/with weeping to ascend: rise weeping for in/on/with descent Horonaim distress cry breaking to hear: hear
For the ascent of Luchith is ascended with weeping and tears; for on the descent of Choronayim the enemies have heard the cry of destruction.
6 to flee to escape soul: life your and to be like/as juniper in/on/with wilderness
Flee, save your life, and be ye like the solitary tree in the wilderness.
7 for because to trust you in/on/with deed your and in/on/with treasure your also you(f. s.) to capture and to come out: come (Chemosh *Q(k)*) in/on/with captivity priest his and ruler his (together *Q(k)*)
For, because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou also shalt be conquered: and Kemosh shall go forth into exile, [with] his priests and his princes together.
8 and to come (in): come to ruin to(wards) all city and city not to escape and to perish [the] valley and to destroy [the] plain which to say LORD
And the water shall come over every city, and no city shall escape: and lost shall be the valley, and destroyed shall be the plain, as the Lord hath said.
9 to give: give feather to/for Moab for to flee to come out: come and city her to/for horror: destroyed to be from nothing to dwell in/on/with them
Give wings unto Moab, that she may flee and get away; since her cities shall become desolate, without any to dwell therein.
10 to curse to make: do work LORD slackness and to curse to withhold sword his from blood
Cursed be he that doth the work of the Lord negligently, and cursed be he that withholdeth his sword from blood.
11 to rest Moab from youth his and to quiet he/she/it to(wards) dreg his and not to empty from article/utensil to(wards) article/utensil and in/on/with captivity not to go: went upon so to stand: stand taste his in/on/with him and aroma his not to change
Moab was ever at ease from his youth, and he was resting on his lees, and was not emptied from vessel to vessel, and had not gone into exile: therefore had his taste remained in him, and his scent was not changed.
12 to/for so behold day to come (in): come utterance LORD and to send: depart to/for him to march and to march him and article/utensil his to empty and bag their to shatter
Therefore, behold, days are coming, saith the Lord, when I will send unto him tappers, that shall tap him, and they shall empty his vessels, and dash in pieces their bottles.
13 and be ashamed Moab from Chemosh like/as as which be ashamed house: household Israel from Bethel Bethel confidence their
And Moab shall be ashamed of Kemosh, as the house of Israel were made ashamed because of Beth-el their confidence.
14 how? to say mighty man we and human strength to/for battle
How can ye say, We are mighty and men of bravery for the war?
15 to ruin Moab and city her to ascend: rise and best youth his to go down to/for slaughter utterance [the] king LORD Hosts name his
Moab is wasted, and into his cities hath [the enemy] ascended, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, the Lord of hosts is his name.
16 near calamity Moab to/for to come (in): come and distress: harm his to hasten much
Near is the calamity of Moab to come, and his misfortune hasteneth fast.
17 to wander to/for him all around him and all to know name his to say how? to break tribe: rod strength rod beauty
All ye that are about him bemoan him; and all ye that know his name: say, How is the strong staff broken, the beautiful stick!
18 to go down from glory (and to dwell *Q(K)*) in/on/with thirst to dwell daughter Dibon for to ruin Moab to ascend: rise in/on/with you to ruin fortification your
Come down from thy glory, and sit in thirst, thou inhabitress, daughter of Dibon; for the waster of Moab cometh up against thee, he destroyeth thy strong-holds.
19 to(wards) way: road to stand: stand and to watch to dwell Aroer to ask to flee and to escape to say what? to be
Stand by the way, and look out, O inhabitress of 'Aro'er: ask him that fleeth, and her that escapeth, say, What hath been done?
20 be ashamed Moab for to to be dismayed (to wail and to cry out *Q(K)*) to tell in/on/with Arnon for to ruin Moab
Moab hath been made ashamed; for it is broken down; wail, and cry aloud: tell ye it by the Arnon, that Moab is wasted,
21 and justice: judgement to come (in): come to(wards) land: country/planet [the] plain to(wards) Holon and to(wards) Jahaz [to] and upon (Mephaath *Q(K)*)
And punishment is come over the land of the plain, over Cholon, and over Yahzah, and over Mepha'ath,
22 and upon Dibon and upon Nebo and upon Beth-diblathaim Beth-diblathaim
And over Dibon, and over Nebo, and over Beth-diblathayim,
23 and upon Kiriathaim and upon Beth-gamul Beth-gamul and upon Beth-meon Beth-meon
And over Kiryathayim, and over Beth-gamul, and over Beth-me'on,
24 and upon Kerioth and upon Bozrah and upon all city land: country/planet Moab [the] distant and [the] near
And over Keriyoth, and over Bozrah, and over all the cities of the land of Moab, that are far and that are near.
25 to cut down/off horn Moab and arm his to break utterance LORD
Hewn away is the horn of Moab, and his arm is broken, saith the Lord.
26 be drunk him for upon LORD to magnify and to slap Moab in/on/with vomit his and to be to/for laughter also he/she/it
Make him drunken; for he magnified himself against the Lord: and Moab shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall become [an object] of derision.
27 and if: surely yes not [the] laughter to be to/for you Israel if: surely yes in/on/with thief (to find *Q(K)*) for from sufficiency word: speaking your in/on/with him to wander
For was not Israel a derision unto thee? or was he found among thieves? that whenever thou spokest of him, thou hadst to shake [thy head]?
28 to leave: forsake city and to dwell in/on/with crag to dwell Moab and to be like/as dove to make a nest in/on/with side: beside lip pit
Leave the cities, and dwell on rocks, O ye that dwell in Moab; and be ye like the dove that maketh her nest in the sides of the mouth of rocky clefts.
29 to hear: hear pride Moab proud much height his and pride his and pride his and height heart his
We have heard the pride of Moab, who is so exceedingly proud, his haughtiness, and his pride, and his arrogance, and the overbearingness of his heart.
30 I to know utterance LORD fury his and not right bluster his not right to make: do
I will know, saith the Lord, his wrath, and how causeless it is: his liars have done what is not right.
31 upon so upon Moab to wail and to/for Moab all his to cry out to(wards) human Kir-hareseth Kir-hareseth to mutter
Therefore will I wail for Moab, and for all Moab will I cry out; for the men of Kir-cheres shall people moan.
32 from weeping Jazer to weep to/for you [the] vine Sibmah tendril your to pass sea till sea (Sea of) Jazer to touch upon summer your and upon vintage your to ruin to fall: fall
With the weeping of Ya'zer will I weep for thee, O vine of Sibmah; thy tendrils [once] passed over the sea, they reached as far as to the sea of Ya'zer: over thy summer-fruits and over thy vintage the waster is fallen.
33 and to gather joy and rejoicing from plantation and from land: country/planet Moab and wine from wine to cease not to tread shout shout not shout
And banished are joy and gladness from Carmel, and from the land of Moab; and I have caused the wine to cease from the wine-presses; none shall tread the press with the vintner's call; battle cry—nor vintner's call.
34 from outcry Heshbon till Elealeh till Jahaz to give: cry out voice their from Zoar till Horonaim Eglath-shelishiyah third for also water Nimrim to/for devastation to be
From the loud cry of Cheshbon as far as El'aleh, even unto Yahaz, have they sent forth their voice, from Zo'ar even unto Choronayim, to the third 'Eglath; for the waters also of Nimrim shall become desolate.
35 and to cease to/for Moab utterance LORD to ascend: offer up high place and to offer: offer to/for God his
Moreover will I cause to cease unto Moab, saith the Lord, him that offereth on the high-places, and him that burneth incense to his gods.
36 upon so heart my to/for Moab like/as flute to roar and heart my to(wards) human Kir-hareseth Kir-hareseth like/as flute to roar upon so abundance to make: offer to perish
Therefore shall my heart groan for Moab like flutes, and my heart shall groan like flutes for the men of Kir-cheres; for the cause that the remnant of the riches he had gotten are lost.
37 for all head bald spot and all beard to dimish upon all hand furrow and upon loin sackcloth
For every head is bald, and every beard is shorn: upon all the hands are cuttings, and upon the loins is sackcloth.
38 upon all roof Moab and in/on/with street/plaza her all his mourning for to break [obj] Moab like/as article/utensil nothing pleasure in/on/with him utterance LORD
Upon all the roofs of Moab, and in her streets, there is everywhere lamentation; for I have broken Moab like a vessel which hath no value, saith the Lord.
39 how? to to be dismayed to wail how? to turn neck Moab be ashamed and to be Moab to/for laughter and to/for terror to/for all around him
Oh, how is it broken down! wail! how hath Moab turned the back with shame! and Moab shall be a derision and a dismay to all those around him.
40 for thus to say LORD behold like/as eagle to fly and to spread wing his to(wards) Moab
For thus hath said the Lord, Behold, as the eagle shall he fly, and he shall spread out his wings over Moab.
41 to capture [the] Kerioth and [the] stronghold to capture and to be heart mighty man Moab in/on/with day [the] he/she/it like/as heart woman to distress
Captured are the fortresses, and the strong-holds are conquered: and the heart of the mighty men of Moab shall be on that day as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
42 and to destroy Moab from people for upon LORD to magnify
And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people; because it hath magnified himself against the Lord.
43 dread and pit and snare upon you to dwell Moab utterance LORD
Terror, and the pit, and the snare, shall be upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, saith the Lord.
44 ([the] to flee *Q(K)*) from face: before [the] dread to fall: fall to(wards) [the] pit and [the] to ascend: rise from [the] pit to capture in/on/with snare for to come (in): bring to(wards) her to(wards) Moab year punishment their utterance LORD
He that fleeth from the terror shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be caught in the snare; for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation, saith the Lord.
45 in/on/with shadow Heshbon to stand: stand from strength to flee for fire to come out: issue from Heshbon and flame from between Sihon and to eat side Moab and crown son: child roar
Under the shadow of Cheshbon stand still, deprived of strength, those that flee; but a fire cometh forth out of Cheshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sichon, and it devoureth the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the children of vaunting.
46 woe! to/for you Moab to perish people Chemosh for to take: take son: child your in/on/with captivity and daughter your in/on/with captive
Woe unto thee, O Moab! lost is the people of Kemosh; for thy sons are taken captives, and thy daughters into captivity.
47 and to return: rescue captivity Moab in/on/with end [the] day utterance LORD till here/thus justice: judgement Moab
Yet will I bring back again the captivity of Moab in the end of days, saith the Lord. Thus far is the punishment of Moab.
