< Jeremiah 18 >

1 [the] word which to be to(wards) Jeremiah from with LORD to/for to say
Yahweh gave another message to me. [He said],
2 to arise: rise and to go down house: home [the] to form: potter and there [to] to hear: hear you [obj] word my
“Go to the shop of the man who makes clay pots. I will give you a message there.”
3 and to go down house: home [the] to form: potter (and behold he/she/it *Q(K)*) to make: [do] work upon [the] wheel
So I went to that shop, and I saw the man who makes pots. He was working at the wheel [that he uses to form pots].
4 and to ruin [the] article/utensil which he/she/it to make in/on/with clay in/on/with hand [the] to form: potter and to return: again and to make him article/utensil another like/as as which to smooth in/on/with eye: appearance [the] to form: potter to/for to make: do
But when he finished making one jar, it was not as good as he hoped/wanted it to be. [So], he took that clay and formed it into another jar, shaping it as he desired.
5 and to be word LORD to(wards) me to/for to say
Then Yahweh gave me this message:
6 like/as to form: potter [the] this not be able to/for to make: do to/for you house: household Israel utterance LORD behold like/as clay in/on/with hand [the] to form: potter so you(m. p.) in/on/with hand my house: household Israel
“Perhaps the people of Israel [think that] I cannot do to them like this man who makes pots has done [RHQ]. [But what they think is wrong]. I [can control what happens to them like] this man [controls what he does with the clay] in his hands.
7 moment to speak: promise upon nation and upon kingdom to/for to uproot and to/for to tear and to/for to perish
There may be a time when I proclaim that I will get rid of a nation or kingdom, [like someone] pulls up [a plant with its roots], and smashes it, and destroys it.
8 and to return: turn back [the] nation [the] he/she/it from distress: evil his which to speak: speak upon him and to be sorry: relent upon [the] distress: harm which to devise: devise to/for to make: do to/for him
But if [the people of] that nation repent of doing evil things, I will not send to them the disasters that I planned to send.
9 and moment to speak: promise upon nation and upon kingdom to/for to build and to/for to plant
And there may be a time when I proclaim that I will establish a nation or kingdom and cause it to be strong [MET].
10 and to make: do ([the] bad: evil *Q(K)*) in/on/with eye: seeing my to/for lest to hear: hear in/on/with voice my and to be sorry: relent upon [the] welfare which to say to/for be good [obj] him
But if [the people of] that nation [start to] do evil things and refuse to obey me, then I will not bless them as I said that I would do.
11 and now to say please to(wards) man: anyone Judah and upon to dwell Jerusalem to/for to say thus to say LORD behold I to form: plan upon you distress: harm and to devise: devise upon you plot to return: return please man: anyone from way: conduct his [the] bad: evil and be good way: conduct your and deed your
Therefore, [Jeremiah, go and warn all] the people in Jerusalem and [in other places] in Judah. Say to them, ‘This is what Yahweh says: “I am planning to cause you to experience a disaster [DOU]. [So], each of you should turn from your evil behavior and start doing what is right, [in order that you will not experience that disaster].”’’”
12 and to say to despair for after plot our to go: follow and man: anyone stubbornness heart his [the] bad: evil to make: do
[So I told that message to the people], but they replied, “It is useless [for you to tell us that]. We will [continue to] be stubborn and behave as we want to.”
13 to/for so thus to say LORD to ask please in/on/with nation who? to hear: hear like/as these horror to make: do much virgin Israel
So, this is what Yahweh says: “Ask the [people who live in other] nations if they have [RHQ] ever heard of such a thing. My Israeli people, who [have been pure like] [MET] virgins, have done a terrible thing!
14 to leave: forsake from rock Sirion snow Lebanon if: surely yes to uproot water be a stranger cool to flow
The snow certainly never [RHQ] completely disappears/melts from the rocky slopes of the mountains in Lebanon. The cold streams that flow down from those distant mountains never [RHQ] cease flowing.
15 for to forget me people my to/for vanity: vain to offer: offer and to stumble them in/on/with way: road their path forever: antiquity to/for to go: walk path way: road not to build
But my people [are not as reliable as those streams: ] They have abandoned me. They burn incense to [honor/worship] worthless idols. [It is as though] they have stumbled as they walked along very old roads that are good roads, and now, instead, they are walking on dirt paths.
16 to/for to set: make land: country/planet their to/for horror: appalled (piping *Q(K)*) forever: enduring all to pass upon her be desolate: appalled and to wander in/on/with head his
Therefore, their land will become desolate, and people who see it will hiss [to ridicule it]. Everyone who passes by will be appalled; they will shake their heads [to show that they are shocked].
17 like/as spirit: breath east to scatter them to/for face: before enemy neck and not face to see: see them in/on/with day calamity their
I will scatter the people when their enemies [attack them] like dust is scattered by an east wind. And when they experience all those difficulties/disasters, I will turn my back on them [and refuse] to help them.”
18 and to say to go: come! and to devise: devise upon Jeremiah plot for not to perish instruction from priest and counsel from wise and word from prophet to go: come! and to smite him in/on/with tongue and not to listen to(wards) all word his
Then some of the people said, “Come, let’s plan to attack Jeremiah. We have [many] priests who teach us God’s laws, and wise men who give us good advice, and prophets who tell us [what will happen. We do not need Jeremiah!] So, let’s slander him and not pay attention to anything that he says.”
19 to listen [emph?] LORD to(wards) me and to hear: hear to/for voice opponent my
[Then I prayed], “Yahweh, [please] listen to me! And listen to what my enemies are saying about me.
20 to complete underneath: instead welfare distress: evil for to pierce pit to/for soul: life my to remember to stand: stand I to/for face: before your to/for to speak: speak upon them welfare to/for to return: turn back [obj] rage your from them
I am doing things that are good, so it is disgusting that [RHQ] they are paying me back by doing evil [things to me]. [It is as though] they have dug a pit for me [to fall into] and die. Do not forget that [one time] I stood in front of you and pleaded for you [to help them], and I tried to prevent you from [punishing them] [MTY], even though you were very angry with them.
21 to/for so to give: give [obj] son: child their to/for famine and to pour them upon hand: power sword and to be woman: wife their childless and widow and human their to be to kill death youth their to smite sword in/on/with battle
So [now], allow their children to die from hunger! Or cause them to be killed by [their enemies’] swords! Cause their wives to become widows, whose children are all dead! Cause their [old] men to die in a plague, and cause their young men to be killed in battles!
22 to hear: hear outcry from house: home their for to come (in): bring upon them band suddenly for to pierce (pit *Q(K)*) to/for to capture me and snare to hide to/for foot my
Cause people to scream in their homes when enemy soldiers suddenly come into their houses! [Cause all those things to happen to them] because they [want to kill me]. [It is as though] they have dug a pit for me [to fall into], and they have hidden traps along my path.
23 and you(m. s.) LORD to know [obj] all counsel their upon me to/for death not to atone upon iniquity: crime their and sin their from to/for face: before your not to wipe (and to be *Q(K)*) to stumble to/for face: before your in/on/with time face: anger your to make: do in/on/with them
Yahweh, you know all the things that they are planning to do to kill me. Do not forgive them for their crimes or blot out [the record of] their sins. Cause them to be destroyed; punish them because of your being angry [with them]!”
