Genesis 31

1 and to hear: hear [obj] word: thing son: child Laban to/for to say to take: take Jacob [obj] all which to/for father our and from whence to/for father our to make: offer [obj] all [the] glory [the] this

याकोब के कानों में यह समाचार पड़ा कि लाबान के पुत्र बड़बड़ा रहे थे, “याकोब ने तो वह सब हड़प लिया है, जो हमारे पिता का था और अब वह हमारे पिता ही की संपत्ति के आधार पर समृद्ध बना बैठा है.”

2 and to see: see Jacob [obj] face of Laban and behold nothing he with him like/as yesterday three days ago

यहां याकोब ने पाया कि लाबान की अभिवृत्ति उनके प्रति अब पहले जैसी नहीं रह गई थी.

3 and to say LORD to(wards) Jacob to return: return to(wards) land: country/planet father your and to/for relatives your and to be with you

इस स्थिति के प्रकाश में याहवेह ने याकोब को आदेश दिया, “अपने पिता एवं अपने संबंधियों के देश को लौट जाओ. मैं इसमें तुम्हारे पक्ष में हूं.”

4 and to send: depart Jacob and to call: call to to/for Rachel and to/for Leah [the] land: country to(wards) flock his

इसलिये याकोब ने राहेल तथा लियाह को वहीं बुला लिया, जहां वे भेड़-बकरियों के साथ थे.

5 and to say to/for them to see: see I [obj] face: before father your for nothing he to(wards) me like/as yesterday three days ago and God father my to be with me me

उन्होंने उनसे कहा, “मैं तुम्हारे पिता की अभिवृत्ति स्पष्ट देख रहा हूं; अब यह मेरे प्रति पहले जैसी सौहार्दपूर्ण नहीं रह गई; किंतु मेरे पिता के परमेश्वर मेरे साथ रहे हैं.

6 and you(f. p.) to know for in/on/with all strength my to serve [obj] father your

तुम दोनों को ही यह उत्तम रीति से ज्ञात है कि मैंने यथाशक्ति तुम्हारे पिता की सेवा की है.

7 and father your to deceive in/on/with me and to pass [obj] wage my ten time and not to give: allow him God to/for be evil with me me

इतना होने पर भी तुम्हारे पिता ने मेरे साथ छल किया और दस अवसरों पर मेरे पारिश्रमिक में परिवर्तन किए हैं; फिर भी परमेश्वर ने उन्हें मेरी कोई हानि न करने दी.

8 if thus to say speckled to be wages your and to beget all [the] flock speckled and if thus to say striped to be wages your and to beget all [the] flock striped

यदि उन्होंने कहा, ‘चित्तीयुक्त पशु तुम्हारे पारिश्रमिक होंगे,’ तो सभी भेड़ चित्तीयुक्त मेमने ही पैदा करने लगे; यदि उन्होंने कहा, ‘अच्छा, धारीयुक्त पशु तुम्हारा पारिश्रमिक होंगे,’ तो भेड़ धारीयुक्त मेमने उत्पन्‍न करने लगे.

9 and to rescue God [obj] livestock father your and to give: give to/for me

यह तो परमेश्वर का ही कृत्य था, जो उन्होंने तुम्हारे पिता के ये पशु मुझे दे दिए हैं.

10 and to be in/on/with time to conceive [the] flock and to lift: look eye my and to see: see in/on/with dream and behold [the] goat [the] to ascend: copulate upon [the] flock striped speckled and spotted

“तब पशुओं के समागम के अवसर पर मैंने एक स्वप्न देखा कि वे बकरे, जो संभोग कर रहे थे, वे धारीयुक्त, चित्तीयुक्त एवं धब्बे युक्त थे.

11 and to say to(wards) me messenger: angel [the] God in/on/with dream Jacob and to say behold I

परमेश्वर के दूत ने स्वप्न में मुझसे कहा, ‘याकोब,’ मैंने कहा, ‘क्या आज्ञा है, प्रभु?’

12 and to say to lift: look please eye your and to see: see all [the] goat [the] to ascend: copulate upon [the] flock striped speckled and spotted for to see: see [obj] all which Laban to make: do to/for you

और उसने कहा, ‘याकोब, देखो-देखो, जितने भी बकरे इस समय संभोग कर रहे हैं, वे धारीयुक्त हैं, चित्तीयुक्त हैं तथा धब्बे युक्त हैं; क्योंकि मैंने वह सब देख लिया है, जो लाबान तुम्हारे साथ करता रहा है.

13 I [the] God Bethel Bethel which to anoint there pillar which to vow to/for me there vow now to arise: rise to come out: come from [the] land: country/planet [the] this and to return: return to(wards) land: country/planet relatives your

मैं बेथेल का परमेश्वर हूं, जहां तुमने उस शिलाखण्ड का अभ्यंजन किया था, जहां तुमने मेरे समक्ष संकल्प लिया था; अब उठो. छोड़ दो इस स्थान को और अपने जन्मस्थान को लौट जाओ.’”

14 and to answer Rachel and Leah and to say to/for him still to/for us portion and inheritance in/on/with house: household father our

राहेल तथा लियाह ने उनसे कहा, “क्या अब भी हमारे पिता की संपत्ति में हमारा कोई अंश अथवा उत्तराधिकार शेष रह गया है?

15 not foreign to devise: count to/for him for to sell us and to eat also to eat [obj] silver: money our

क्या अब हम उनके आंकलन में विदेशी नहीं हो गई हैं? उन्होंने हमें बेच दिया है, तथा हमारे अंश की धनराशि भी हड़प ली है.

16 for all [the] riches which to rescue God from father our to/for us he/she/it and to/for son: child our and now all which to say God to(wards) you to make: do

निःसंदेह अब तो, जो संपत्ति परमेश्वर ने हमारे पिता से छीन ली है, हमारी तथा हमारी संतान की हो चुकी है. तो आप वही कीजिए, जिसका निर्देश आपको परमेश्वर दे चुके हैं.”

17 and to arise: rise Jacob and to lift: raise [obj] son: child his and [obj] woman: wife his upon [the] camel

तब याकोब ने अपने बालकों एवं पत्नियों को ऊंटों पर बैठा दिया,

18 and to lead [obj] all livestock his and [obj] all property his which to gather livestock acquisition his which to gather in/on/with Paddan (Paddan)-aram to/for to come (in): come to(wards) Isaac father his land: country/planet [to] Canaan

याकोब ने अपने समस्त पशुओं को, अपनी समस्त संपत्ति को, जो उनके वहां रहते हुए संकलित होती गई थी तथा वह पशु धन, जो पद्दन-अराम में उनके प्रवासकाल में संकलित होता चला गया था, इन सबको लेकर अपने पिता यित्सहाक के आवास कनान की ओर प्रस्थान किया.

19 and Laban to go: went to/for to shear [obj] flock his and to steal Rachel [obj] [the] teraphim which to/for father her

जब लाबान ऊन कतरने के लिए बाहर गया हुआ था, राहेल ने अपने पिता के गृहदेवता—प्रतिमाओं की चोरी कर ली.

20 and to steal Jacob [obj] heart Laban [the] Aramean upon without to tell to/for him for to flee he/she/it

तब याकोब ने भी अरामी लाबान के साथ प्रवंचना की; याकोब ने लाबान को सूचित ही नहीं किया कि वे पलायन कर रहे थे.

21 and to flee he/she/it and all which to/for him and to arise: rise and to pass [obj] [the] River and to set: make [obj] face of his mountain: hill country [the] Gilead

इसलिये याकोब अपनी समस्त संपत्ति को लेकर पलायन कर गए. उन्होंने फरात नदी पार की और पर्वतीय प्रदेश गिलआद की दिशा में आगे बढ़ गए.

22 and to tell to/for Laban in/on/with day [the] third for to flee Jacob

तीसरे दिन जब लाबान को यह सूचना दी गई कि याकोब पलायन कर चुके हैं,

23 and to take: take [obj] brother: male-relative his with him and to pursue after him way: journey seven day and to cleave [obj] him in/on/with mountain: hill country [the] Gilead

तब लाबान ने अपने संबंधियों को साथ लेकर याकोब का पीछा किया. सात दिन पीछा करने के बाद वे गिलआद के पर्वतीय प्रदेश में उनके निकट पहुंच गए.

24 and to come (in): come God to(wards) Laban [the] Aramean in/on/with dream [the] night and to say to/for him to keep: careful to/for you lest to speak: speak with Jacob from pleasant till bad: harmful

परमेश्वर ने अरामी लाबान पर रात्रि में स्वप्न में प्रकट होकर उसे चेतावनी दी, “सावधान रहना कि तुम याकोब से कुछ प्रिय-अप्रिय न कह बैठो.”

25 and to overtake Laban [obj] Jacob and Jacob to blow [obj] tent his in/on/with mountain: hill country and Laban to blow with brother: male-relative his in/on/with mountain: hill country [the] Gilead

लाबान याकोब तक जा पहुंचा. याकोब के शिविर पर्वतीय क्षेत्र में थे तथा लाबान ने भी अपने शिविर अपने संबंधियों सदृश गिलआद के पर्वतीय क्षेत्र में खड़े किए हुए थे.

26 and to say Laban to/for Jacob what? to make: do and to steal [obj] heart my and to lead [obj] daughter my like/as to take captive sword

लाबान ने याकोब से कहा, “यह क्या कर रहे हो तुम? यह तो मेरे साथ छल है! तुम तो मेरी पुत्रियों को ऐसे लिए जा रहे हो, जैसे युद्धबन्दियों को तलवार के आतंक में ले जाया जाता है.

27 to/for what? to hide to/for to flee and to steal [obj] me and not to tell to/for me and to send: depart you in/on/with joy and in/on/with song in/on/with tambourine and in/on/with lyre

क्या आवश्यकता थी ऐसे छिपकर भागने की, मुझसे छल करने की? यदि तुमने मुझे इसकी सूचना दी होती, तो मैं तुम्हें डफ तथा किन्‍नोर की संगत पर गीतों के साथ सहर्ष विदा करता!

28 and not to leave me to/for to kiss to/for son: descendant/people my and to/for daughter my now be foolish to make: do

तुमने तो मुझे सुअवसर ही न दिया कि मैं अपने पुत्र-पुत्रियों को चुंबन के साथ विदा कर सकता. तुम्हारा यह कृत्य मूर्खतापूर्ण है.

29 there to/for god: power hand: power my to/for to make: do with you bad: evil and God father your last night to say to(wards) me to/for to say to keep: careful to/for you from to speak: speak with Jacob from pleasant till bad: harmful

मुझे यह अधिकार है कि तुम्हें इसके लिए प्रताड़ित करूं; किंतु तुम्हारे पिता के परमेश्वर ने कल रात्रि मुझ पर प्रकट होकर मुझे आदेश दिया है कि मैं तुमसे कुछ भी प्रिय-अप्रिय न कहूं.

30 and now to go: went to go: went for to long to long to/for house: household father your to/for what? to steal [obj] God my

ठीक है, तुम्हें अपने पिता के निकट रहने की इच्छा है, मान लिया; किंतु क्या आवश्यकता थी तुम्हें मेरे गृह-देवताओं की चोरी करने की?”

31 and to answer Jacob and to say to/for Laban for to fear for to say lest to plunder [obj] daughter your from from with me

तब याकोब ने लाबान को उत्तर दिया, “मेरे इस प्रकार आने का कारण थी मेरी यह आशंका, कि आप मुझसे अपनी पुत्रियां बलात छीन लेते.

32 with which to find [obj] God your not to live before brother: male-relative our to recognize to/for you what? with me me and to take: take to/for you and not to know Jacob for Rachel to steal them

किंतु आपको जिस किसी के पास से वे गृहदेवता प्राप्‍त होंगे, उसे जीवित न छोड़ा जाएगा. आपके ही संबंधियों की उपस्थिति में आप हमारी संपत्ति में से जो कुछ आपका है, ले लीजिए.” याकोब को इस तथ्य का कोई संज्ञान न था कि राहेल ने उन गृह-देवताओं की मूर्तियों को चुराई हैं.

33 and to come (in): come Laban in/on/with tent Jacob and in/on/with tent Leah and in/on/with tent two [the] maidservant and not to find and to come out: come from tent Leah and to come (in): come in/on/with tent Rachel

इसलिये लाबान याकोब के शिविर के भीतर गया, उसके बाद लियाह के शिविर में, और उसके बाद परिचारिकाओं के शिविर में. किंतु वह देवता उसे वहां प्राप्‍त न हुआ. तब वह लियाह के शिविर से निकलकर राहेल के शिविर में गया.

34 and Rachel to take: take [obj] [the] teraphim and to set: put them in/on/with saddle [the] camel and to dwell upon them and to feel Laban [obj] all [the] tent and not to find

राहेल ने ही वे गृहदेवता छिपाए हुए थे, जिन्हें उसने ऊंट की काठी में रखा हुआ था. वह स्वयं उन पर बैठ गई थी. लाबान ने समस्त शिविर में खोज कर ली थी, किंतु उसे कुछ प्राप्‍त न हुआ था.

35 and to say to(wards) father her not to be incensed in/on/with eye: appearance lord my for not be able to/for to arise: rise from face: before your for way: conduct woman to/for me and to search and not to find [obj] [the] teraphim

उसने अपने पिता से आग्रह किया, “पिताजी, आप क्रुद्ध न हों. मैं आपके समक्ष खड़ी होने के असमर्थ हूं; क्योंकि इस समय मैं रजस्वला हूं.” तब लाबान के खोजने पर भी उसे वे गृह-देवताओं की मूर्तियां नहीं मिलीं.

36 and to be incensed to/for Jacob and to contend in/on/with Laban and to answer Jacob and to say to/for Laban what? transgression my what? sin my for to burn/pursue after me

तब याकोब का क्रोध उद्दीप्‍त हो उठा. वह लाबान से तर्क-वितर्क करने लगे, “क्या अपराध है मेरा?” क्या पाप किया है मैंने, जो आप इस प्रकार मेरा पीछा करते हुए आ रहे हैं?

37 for to feel [obj] all article/utensil my what? to find from all article/utensil house: household your to set: make thus before brother: male-relative my and brother: male-relative your and to rebuke between two our

आपने मेरी समस्त वस्तुओं में उन देवताओं की खोज कर ली है, किंतु आपको कोई भी अपनी वस्तु प्राप्‍त हुई है? आपके तथा मेरे संबंधियों के समक्ष यह स्पष्ट हो जाए, कि वे हम दोनों के मध्य अपना निर्णय दे सकें.

38 this twenty year I with you ewe your and goat your not be bereaved and ram flock your not to eat

“इन बीस वर्षों तक मैं आपके साथ रहा हूं. आपकी भेड़ों एवं बकरियों में कभी गर्भपात नहीं हुआ. अपने भोजन के लिए मैंने कभी आपके पशुवृन्द में से मेढ़े नहीं उठाए.

39 torn animal not to come (in): bring to(wards) you I to sin her from hand my to seek her to steal day and to steal night

जब कभी किसी वन्य पशु ने हमारे पशु को फाड़ा, मैंने उसे कभी आपके वृन्द में सम्मिलित नहीं किया; इसे मैंने अपनी ही हानि में सम्मिलित किया था. चाहे कोई पशु दिन में चोरी हुआ अथवा रात्रि में, आपने मुझसे भुगतान की मांग की.

40 to be in/on/with day to eat me drought and ice in/on/with night and to wander sleep my from eye my

मेरी स्थिति तो ऐसी रही कि दिन में मुझ पर ऊष्मा का प्रहार होता रहा तथा रात्रि में ठंड का. मेरे नेत्रों से निद्रा दूर ही दूर रही.

41 this to/for me twenty year in/on/with house: household your to serve you four ten year in/on/with two daughter your and six year in/on/with flock your and to pass [obj] wage my ten time

इन बीस वर्षों में मैं आपके परिवार में रहा हूं; चौदह वर्ष आपकी पुत्रियों के लिए तथा छः वर्ष आपके भेड़-बकरियों के लिए. इन वर्षों में आपने दस बार मेरा पारिश्रमिक परिवर्तित किया है.

42 unless God father my God Abraham and dread Isaac to be to/for me for now emptily to send: depart me [obj] affliction my and [obj] (toil *LB(ah)*) palm my to see: see God and to rebuke last night

यदि मेरे पिता के परमेश्वर, अब्राहाम तथा यित्सहाक के परमेश्वर का भय मेरे साथ न होता, तो आपने तो मुझे रिक्त हस्त ही विदा कर दिया होता. परमेश्वर ने मेरे कष्ट एवं मेरे हाथों के परिश्रम को देखा है, और उसका प्रतिफल उन्होंने मुझे कल रात में प्रदान कर दिया है.”

43 and to answer Laban and to say to(wards) Jacob [the] daughter daughter my and [the] son: child son: child my and [the] flock flock my and all which you(m. s.) to see: see to/for me he/she/it and to/for daughter my what? to make: do to/for these [the] day: today or to/for son: child their which to beget

यह सब सुनकर लाबान ने याकोब को उत्तर दिया, “ये स्त्रियां मेरी पुत्रियां हैं, ये बालक मेरे बालक हैं, ये भेड़-बकरियां भी मेरी ही हैं, तथा जो कुछ तुम्हें दिखाई दे रहा है, वह मेरा ही है; किंतु अब मैं अपनी पुत्रियों एवं इन बालकों का क्या करूं, जो इनकी सन्तति हैं?

44 and now to go: come! [emph?] to cut: make(covenant) covenant I and you(m. s.) and to be to/for witness between me and between you

इसलिये आओ, हम परस्पर यह वाचा स्थापित कर लें, तुम और मैं, और यही हमारे मध्य साक्ष्य हो जाए.”

45 and to take: take Jacob stone and to exalt her pillar

इसलिये याकोब ने एक शिलाखण्ड को स्तंभ स्वरूप खड़ा किया.

46 and to say Jacob to/for brother: male-relative his to gather stone and to take: take stone and to make heap and to eat there upon [the] heap

याकोब ने अपने संबंधियों से कहा, “पत्थर एकत्र करो.” इसलिये उन्होंने पत्थर एकत्र कर एक ढेर बना दिया तथा उस ढेर के निकट बैठ उन्होंने भोजन किया.

47 and to call: call by to/for him Laban Jegar (Ramoth)-sahadutha and Jacob to call: call by to/for him Galeed

लाबान ने तो इसे नाम दिया येगर-सहदूथा किंतु याकोब ने इसे गलएद कहकर पुकारा.

48 and to say Laban [the] heap [the] this witness between me and between you [the] day upon so (to call: call by *LA(bh)*) name his Galeed

लाबान ने कहा, “पत्थरों का यह ढेर आज मेरे तथा तुम्हारे मध्य एक साक्ष्य है.” इसलिये इसे गलएद तथा मिज़पाह नाम दिया गया,

49 and [the] Mizpah which to say to watch LORD between me and between you for to hide man: anyone from neighbor his

क्योंकि उनका कथन था, “जब हम एक दूसरे की दृष्टि से दूर हों, याहवेह ही तुम्हारे तथा मेरे मध्य चौकसी बनाए रखें.

50 if to afflict [obj] daughter my and if to take: marry woman: wife upon daughter my nothing man: anyone with us to see: see God witness between me and between you

यदि तुम मेरी पुत्रियों के साथ दुर्व्यवहार करो अथवा मेरी पुत्रियों के अतिरिक्त पत्नियां ले आओ, यद्यपि कोई मनुष्य यह देख न सकेगा, किंतु स्मरण रहे, तुम्हारे तथा मेरे मध्य परमेश्वर साक्ष्य हैं.”

51 and to say Laban to/for Jacob behold [the] heap [the] this and behold [the] pillar which to show between me and between you

लाबान ने याकोब से कहा, “इस ढेर को तथा इस स्तंभ को देखो, जो मैंने तुम्हारे तथा मेरे मध्य में स्थापित किया है.

52 witness [the] heap [the] this and witness [the] pillar if: surely yes I not to pass to(wards) you [obj] [the] heap [the] this and if: surely yes you(m. s.) not to pass to(wards) me [obj] [the] heap [the] this and [obj] [the] pillar [the] this to/for distress: harm

यह स्तंभ तथा पत्थरों का ढेर साक्ष्य है, कि मैं इसके निकट से होकर तुम्हारी हानि करने के लक्ष्य से आगे नहीं बढ़ूंगा, वैसे ही तुम भी इस ढेर तथा इस स्तंभ के निकट से होकर मेरी हानि के उद्देश्य से आगे नहीं बढ़ोगे.

53 God Abraham and God Nahor to judge between us God father their and to swear Jacob in/on/with dread father his Isaac

इसके लिए अब्राहाम के परमेश्वर, नाहोर के परमेश्वर तथा उनके पिता के परमेश्वर हमारा न्याय करें.” इसलिये याकोब ने अपने पिता यित्सहाक के प्रति भय-भाव में शपथ ली.

54 and to sacrifice Jacob sacrifice in/on/with mountain: hill country and to call: call to to/for brother: male-relative his to/for to eat food: bread and to eat food: bread and to lodge in/on/with mountain: hill country

फिर याकोब ने उस पर्वत पर ही बलि अर्पित की तथा अपने संबंधियों को भोज के लिए आमंत्रित किया. उन्होंने भोजन किया तथा पर्वत पर ही रात्रि व्यतीत की.

बड़े तड़के लाबान उठा, अपने पुत्र-पुत्रियों का चुंबन लिया तथा उन्हें आशीर्वाद दिया. फिर लाबान स्वदेश लौट गया.
