൭‘ഞാൻ എന്റെ മരണത്തിനു മുമ്പെ തിന്നു നിന്നെ യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതിനു നീ വേട്ടയിറച്ചി കൊണ്ടുവന്ന് രുചികരമായ ഭക്ഷണം ഉണ്ടാക്കിത്തരിക’ എന്നു പറയുന്നത് ഞാൻ കേട്ടു.

൮അതുകൊണ്ട് മകനേ, നീ എന്റെ വാക്ക് കേട്ട് ഞാൻ നിന്നോട് കല്പിക്കുന്നത് ചെയ്ക.

൯ആട്ടിൻകൂട്ടത്തിൽ ചെന്ന് അവിടെനിന്ന് രണ്ടു നല്ല കോലാട്ടിൻകുട്ടികളെ കൊണ്ടുവരുക; ഞാൻ അവയെക്കൊണ്ട് നിന്റെ അപ്പന് ഇഷ്ടവും രുചികരവുമായ ഭക്ഷണം ഉണ്ടാക്കും.

൨൧യിസ്ഹാക്ക് യാക്കോബിനോട്: “മകനേ, അടുത്തുവരിക; നീ എന്റെ മകനായ ഏശാവ് തന്നെയോ അല്ലയോ എന്നു ഞാൻ തടവി നോക്കട്ടെ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

൨൨യാക്കോബ് തന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിനോട് അടുത്തുചെന്നു; അവൻ യാക്കോബിനെ തപ്പിനോക്കി: “ശബ്ദം യാക്കോബിന്റെ ശബ്ദം; പക്ഷേ കൈകൾ ഏശാവിന്റെ കൈകൾ തന്നെ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

൨൫അപ്പോൾ യിസ്ഹാക്ക്: “എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവാ; ഞാൻ നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതിന് എന്റെ മകന്റെ വേട്ടയിറച്ചി ഞാൻ ഭക്ഷിക്കാം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; യാക്കോബ് അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു, യിസ്ഹാക്ക് തിന്നു; വീഞ്ഞും കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു, യിസ്ഹാക്ക് കുടിച്ചു.

൨൭അവൻ അടുത്തുചെന്ന് അവനെ ചുംബിച്ചു; അവൻ അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രങ്ങളുടെ വാസന മണത്ത് അവനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞത്: “ഇതാ, എന്റെ മകന്റെ വാസന യഹോവ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന വയലിലെ വാസനപോലെ.
28 and to give: give to/for you [the] God from dew [the] heaven and from fat [the] land: soil and abundance grain and new wine
൨൮ദൈവം ആകാശത്തിന്റെ മഞ്ഞും ഭൂമിയുടെ പുഷ്ടിയും ധാരാളം ധാന്യവും വീഞ്ഞും നിനക്ക് തരുമാറാകട്ടെ.

൨൯വംശങ്ങൾ നിന്നെ സേവിക്കട്ടെ; ജനതകൾ നിന്നെ വണങ്ങട്ടെ; നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാർക്കു നീ പ്രഭുവായിരിക്കുക; നിന്റെ മാതാവിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ നിന്നെ വണങ്ങട്ടെ. നിന്നെ ശപിക്കുന്നവൻ എല്ലാം ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ; നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവൻ എല്ലാം അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ”.

൩൨അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിസ്ഹാക്ക് അവനോട്: “നീ ആർ” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്: “ഞാൻ അങ്ങയുടെ മകൻ, അങ്ങയുടെ ആദ്യജാതൻ ഏശാവ്” എന്ന് അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

൩൩അപ്പോൾ യിസ്ഹാക്ക് അത്യധികം ഭ്രമിച്ചു നടുങ്ങി: “എന്നാൽ വേട്ടയാടി എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നവൻ ആരാകുന്നു? നീ വരുന്നതിനുമുമ്പെ ഞാൻ സകലവും ഭക്ഷിച്ച് അവനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവൻ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവനുമാകും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

൩൪ഏശാവ് അപ്പന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അതിദുഃഖിതനായി ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചു: “അപ്പാ, എന്നെ, എന്നെയുംകൂടെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കണമേ” എന്ന് അപ്പനോട് പറഞ്ഞു.

൩൫അതിന് അവൻ: “നിന്റെ സഹോദരൻ ഉപായത്തോടെ വന്നു നിന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹം അപഹരിച്ചു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

൩൬“ശരി, യാക്കോബ് എന്നല്ലോ അവന്റെ പേര്; ഈ രണ്ടാം പ്രാവശ്യവും അവൻ എന്നെ ചതിച്ചു; അവൻ എന്റെ ജ്യേഷ്ഠാവകാശം അപഹരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇപ്പോൾ ഇതാ, എന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹവും തട്ടിയെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്ന് അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. “അങ്ങ് എനിക്ക് ഒരു അനുഗ്രഹവും കരുതിവച്ചിട്ടില്ലയോ” എന്ന് അവൻ ചോദിച്ചു.

൩൭യിസ്ഹാക്ക് ഏശാവിനോട്: “ഞാൻ അവനെ നിനക്ക് പ്രഭുവാക്കി അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ എല്ലാവരേയും അവന് ദാസന്മാരാക്കി; അവന് ധാന്യവും വീഞ്ഞും കൊടുത്തു; ഇനി നിനക്കുവേണ്ടി ഞാൻ എന്ത് ചെയ്യേണ്ടു മകനേ” എന്ന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

൩൮ഏശാവ് പിതാവിനോട്: “അപ്പാ, അങ്ങയ്ക്ക് ഒരു അനുഗ്രഹം മാത്രമേ ഉള്ളുവോ? എന്നെ, എന്നെയുംകൂടെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണമേ, അപ്പാ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് പൊട്ടിക്കരഞ്ഞു.

൩൯അപ്പോൾ അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിസ്ഹാക്ക് മറുപടിയായിട്ട് അവനോട് പറഞ്ഞത്: “നിന്റെ വാസസ്ഥലം ഭൂമിയിലെ പുഷ്ടികൂടാതെയും മീതെ ആകാശത്തിലെ മഞ്ഞുകൂടാതെയും ഇരിക്കും.

൪൦നിന്റെ വാളുകൊണ്ടു നീ ഉപജീവിക്കും; നിന്റെ സഹോദരനെ നീ സേവിക്കും. നിന്റെ കെട്ട് അഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുമ്പോൾ നീ അവന്റെ നുകം കഴുത്തിൽനിന്ന് കുടഞ്ഞുകളയും”.

൪൧തന്റെ അപ്പൻ യാക്കോബിനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ച അനുഗ്രഹം നിമിത്തം ഏശാവ് അവനെ ദ്വേഷിച്ച്: “അപ്പനെക്കുറിച്ചു ദുഃഖിക്കുന്ന കാലം അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ എന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യാക്കോബിനെ കൊല്ലും” എന്ന് ഏശാവ് ഹൃദയത്തിൽ പറഞ്ഞു.

൪൪നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെ ക്രോധം തീരുവോളം കുറെ ദിവസം അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പാർക്കുക.
