Naquele mesmo dia o rei Assuero deu à rainha Ester a casa de Hamã, inimigo dos judeus; e Mardoqueu veio diante do rei, porque Ester [lhe] declarara o que ele era dela.

E o rei tirou o seu anel que tinha tomado de Hamã, e o deu a Mardoqueu. E Ester pôs a Mardoqueu sobre [o comando] da casa de Hamã.

Ester falou novamente diante do rei, e lançou-se a seus pés, chorando e suplicando-lhe que revogasse a maldade de Hamã, agagita, e seu plano que tinha tramado contra os judeus.

Então o rei apontou para Ester o cetro de ouro; e Ester se levantou, e se pôs em pé diante do rei.

E disse: Se for do agrado do rei, e se tenho achado favor diante dele, e se for correto perante o rei, e se eu lhe agrado em seus olhos, escreva-se que sejam revogadas as cartas do plano de Hamã, filho de Hamedata, agagita, que ele escreveu para destruir os judeus que estão em todas as províncias do rei.

Pois como poderei eu ver o mal que sobrevirá a meu povo? Como poderei eu ver a destruição dos meus parentes?

Então o rei Assuero respondeu à rainha Ester e ao judeu Mardoqueu: Eis que dei a Ester a casa de Hamã, e a ele enforcaram na forca, por ter tentado matar os judeus.

Escrevei, pois, vós aos judeus como bem vos parecer em nome do rei, e selai o com o anel do rei; porque a escritura que é selada com o anel do rei, não pode ser revogada.

Então foram chamados os escrivães do rei naquele mesmo instante, no terceiro mês (que é Sivã), ao [dia] vinte e três do mesmo; e escreveu-se conforme tudo quanto Mardoqueu mandou, aos judeus, como também aos sátrapas, aos governadores, e aos líderes das províncias, que [se estendem] da Índia até Cuxe, cento e vinte e sete províncias, a cada província segundo sua escrita, e a cada povo conforme sua língua; como também aos judeus conforme sua escrita, e conforme sua língua.

E escreveu-se em nome do rei Assuero, e selou-se com o anel do rei; e as cartas foram enviados por meio dos mensageiros por correios a cavalo, que cavalgavam sobre velozes cavalos, os quais pertenciam ao rei.

Que o rei concedia aos judeus que havia em todas a cidades, que se ajuntassem e se pusessem em defesa de suas vidas, para destruírem, matarem e exterminarem todas as tropas de povo e província que viesse contra eles, até a crianças como a mulheres, e [os] despojassem de seus bens;

Em um mesmo dia, em todas as províncias do rei Assuero, no [dia] treze do décimo segundo mês, que é o mês de Adar.

Então Mardoqueu saiu de diante do rei com vestido real de azul celeste e branco, como também com uma grande coroa de ouro, e um manto de linho e púrpura; e a cidade de Susã jubilou e se alegrou.

[E] para os judeus houve luz, alegria, júbilo, e honra.
