Esther 4

1 and Mordecai to know [obj] all which to make: do and to tear Mordecai [obj] garment his and to clothe sackcloth and ashes and to come out: come in/on/with midst [the] city and to cry out outcry great: large and bitter

Als nun Mardochai alles erfuhr, was vorgegangen war, zerriß er seine Kleider, legte ein Trauergewand an und (streute sich) Asche (aufs Haupt), ging dann aus seinem Hause mitten in die Stadt hinein und wehklagte dabei laut und schmerzlich.

2 and to come (in): come till to/for face: before gate [the] king for nothing to/for to come (in): come to(wards) gate [the] king in/on/with clothing sackcloth

So kam er bis vor das Tor des Königs(palastes); denn in das Tor des Palastes selbst durfte man in einem Trauergewande nicht treten.

3 and in/on/with all province and province place which word [the] king and law his to touch mourning great: large to/for Jew and fast and weeping and mourning sackcloth and ashes to lay to/for many

Auch in allen einzelnen Provinzen, überall, wohin die Verfügung und der Erlaß des Königs gelangte, herrschte bei den Juden große Trauer; man fastete, weinte und wehklagte; die meisten saßen in Sackleinen und auf Asche da.

4 (and to come (in): come *Q(k)*) maiden Esther and eunuch her and to tell to/for her and to twist: tremble [the] queen much and to send: depart garment to/for to clothe [obj] Mordecai and to/for to turn aside: remove sackcloth his from upon him and not to receive

Als nun die Dienerinnen der Esther und ihre Kammerherren kamen und es ihr meldeten, geriet die Königin in große Aufregung und sandte dem Mardochai Kleider, damit er sie anzöge und das Trauergewand ablegte; aber er nahm sie nicht an.

5 and to call: call to Esther to/for Hathach from eunuch [the] king which to stand: appoint to/for face: before her and to command him upon Mordecai to/for to know what? this and upon what? this

Da ließ Esther den Hathach kommen, einen von den Kammerherren, den der König zu ihrem Dienst bestellt hatte, und gab ihm den Auftrag, sich bei Mardochai zu erkundigen, was das zu bedeuten habe und warum es geschehe.

6 and to come out: come Hathach to(wards) Mordecai to(wards) street/plaza [the] city which to/for face: before gate [the] king

Als nun Hathach zu Mardochai hinauskam auf den öffentlichen Platz, der vor dem Tor des königlichen Palastes lag,

7 and to tell to/for him Mordecai [obj] all which to meet him and [obj] declaration [the] silver: money which to say Haman to/for to weigh upon treasury [the] king (in/on/with Jew *Q(k)*) to/for to perish them

teilte Mardochai ihm alles mit, was ihn betroffen hatte, auch den bestimmten Betrag der Geldsumme, die Haman als Entgelt für die Ermordung der Juden an die königliche Schatzkammer zu zahlen versprochen hatte.

8 and [obj] copy writing [the] law which to give: give in/on/with Susa to/for to destroy them to give: give to/for him to/for to see: see [obj] Esther and to/for to tell to/for her and to/for to command upon her to/for to come (in): come to(wards) [the] king to/for be gracious to/for him and to/for to seek from to/for face: before his upon people her

Außerdem übergab er ihm eine Abschrift der in Susa zu ihrer Niedermetzelung erlassenen schriftlichen Verordnung, damit er sie der Esther zeige und ihr alles mitteile und sie veranlasse, sich zum Könige zu begeben, um ihn um Gnade anzuflehen und bei ihm Fürbitte für ihr Volk einzulegen.

9 and to come (in): come Hathach and to tell to/for Esther [obj] word: speaking Mordecai

Als Hathach nun zurückgekommen war und der Esther die Botschaft Mardochais mitgeteilt hatte,

10 and to say Esther to/for Hathach and to command him to(wards) Mordecai

sandte Esther den Hathach nochmals an Mardochai mit der Meldung:

11 all servant/slave [the] king and people province [the] king to know which all man and woman which to come (in): come to(wards) [the] king to(wards) [the] court [the] inner which not to call: call to one law his to/for to die to/for alone from whence to extend to/for him [the] king [obj] scepter [the] gold and to live and I not (to call: call to *L(abh)*) to/for to come (in): come to(wards) [the] king this thirty day

»Alle Diener des Königs und die Leute in den königlichen Provinzen wissen, daß für jedermann, es sei Mann oder Frau, der zum König in den inneren Hof eintritt, ohne gerufen zu sein, ein und dasselbe Gesetz gilt, nämlich daß er sterben muß, es sei denn, daß der König ihm sein goldenes Zepter entgegenstreckt, damit er am Leben bleibe. Ich aber bin seit nunmehr schon dreißig Tagen nicht zum König berufen worden.«

12 and to tell to/for Mordecai [obj] word: speaking Esther

Als man nun Mardochai die Meldung der Esther mitgeteilt hatte,

13 and to say Mordecai to/for to return: reply to(wards) Esther not to resemble in/on/with soul: myself your to/for to escape house: home [the] king from all [the] Jew

ließ dieser ihr folgende Antwort zukommen: »Bilde dir nicht ein, daß infolge deiner Zugehörigkeit zum königlichen Hofe du allein von allen Juden mit dem Leben davonkommen werdest!

14 that if: except if: except be quiet be quiet in/on/with time [the] this space and deliverance to stand: rise to/for Jew from place another and you(f. s.) and house: household father your to perish and who? to know if to/for time like/as this to touch to/for royalty

Denn wenn du wirklich zu dieser Zeit stille sitzen wolltest, so wird den Juden Hilfe und Rettung von einer andern Seite her erstehen; du aber und deine ganze Familie, ihr werdet umkommen! Und wer weiß, ob du nicht gerade für eine Zeit, wie diese ist, zur königlichen Würde gelangt bist?«

15 and to say Esther to/for to return: reply to(wards) Mordecai

Da ließ Esther dem Mardochai zurücksagen:

16 to go: went to gather [obj] all [the] Jew [the] to find in/on/with Susa and to fast upon me and not to eat and not to drink three day night and day also I and maiden my to fast so and in/on/with so to come (in): come to(wards) [the] king which not like/as law and like/as as which to perish to perish

»Gehe hin, versammle alle Juden, die sich in Susa befinden, und fastet um meinetwillen, und zwar drei Tage lang bei Tag und Nacht, ohne zu essen und zu trinken. Auch ich will mit meinen Dienerinnen ebenso fasten und mich alsdann zum König begeben, wenn es auch gegen das Gesetz ist. Muß ich dann sterben, nun, so sterbe ich!«

17 and to pass Mordecai and to make: do like/as all which to command upon him Esther

Da ging Mardochai weg und tat ganz so, wie Esther ihm angegeben hatte.
