2 Samuel 12
1 and to send: depart LORD [obj] Nathan to(wards) David and to come (in): come to(wards) him and to say to/for him two human to be in/on/with city one one rich and one be poor
| וַיִּשְׁלַ֧ח יְהוָ֛ה אֶת־נָתָ֖ן אֶל־דָּוִ֑ד וַיָּבֹ֣א אֵלָ֗יו וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לֹו֙ שְׁנֵ֣י אֲנָשִׁ֗ים הָיוּ֙ בְּעִ֣יר אֶחָ֔ת אֶחָ֥ד עָשִׁ֖יר וְאֶחָ֥ד רָֽאשׁ׃ |
2 to/for rich to be flock and cattle to multiply much
| לְעָשִׁ֗יר הָיָ֛ה צֹ֥אן וּבָקָ֖ר הַרְבֵּ֥ה מְאֹֽד׃ |
3 and to/for be poor nothing all that if: except if: except ewe-lamb one small which to buy and to live her and to magnify with him and with son: child his together from morsel his to eat and from cup his to drink and in/on/with bosom: embrace his to lie down: lay down and to be to/for him like/as daughter
| וְלָרָ֣שׁ אֵֽין־כֹּ֗ל כִּי֩ אִם־כִּבְשָׂ֨ה אַחַ֤ת קְטַנָּה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר קָנָ֔ה וַיְחַיֶּ֕הָ וַתִּגְדַּ֥ל עִמֹּ֛ו וְעִם־בָּנָ֖יו יַחְדָּ֑ו מִפִּתֹּ֨ו תֹאכַ֜ל וּמִכֹּסֹ֤ו תִשְׁתֶּה֙ וּבְחֵיקֹ֣ו תִשְׁכָּ֔ב וַתְּהִי־לֹ֖ו כְּבַֽת׃ |
4 and to come (in): come traveller to/for man [the] rich and to spare to/for to take: take from flock his and from cattle his to/for to make to/for to journey [the] to come (in): come to/for him and to take: take [obj] ewe-lamb [the] man [the] be poor and to make her to/for man [the] to come (in): come to(wards) him
| וַיָּ֣בֹא הֵלֶךְ֮ לְאִ֣ישׁ הֽ͏ֶעָשִׁיר֒ וַיַּחְמֹ֗ל לָקַ֤חַת מִצֹּאנֹו֙ וּמִבְּקָרֹ֔ו לַעֲשֹׂ֕ות לָאֹרֵ֖חַ הַבָּא־לֹ֑ו וַיִּקַּ֗ח אֶת־כִּבְשַׂת֙ הָאִ֣ישׁ הָרָ֔אשׁ וַֽיַּעֲשֶׂ֔הָ לָאִ֖ישׁ הַבָּ֥א אֵלָֽיו׃ |
5 and to be incensed face: anger David in/on/with man much and to say to(wards) Nathan alive LORD for son: descendant/people death [the] man [the] to make: do this
| וַיִּֽחַר־אַ֥ף דָּוִ֛ד בָּאִ֖ישׁ מְאֹ֑ד וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אֶל־נָתָ֔ן חַי־יְהוָ֕ה כִּ֣י בֶן־מָ֔וֶת הָאִ֖ישׁ הָעֹשֶׂ֥ה זֹֽאת׃ |
6 and [obj] [the] ewe-lamb to complete fourfold consequence which to make: do [obj] [the] word: thing [the] this and upon which not to spare
| וְאֶת־הַכִּבְשָׂ֖ה יְשַׁלֵּ֣ם אַרְבַּעְתָּ֑יִם עֵ֗קֶב אֲשֶׁ֤ר עָשָׂה֙ אֶת־הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֔ה וְעַ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא־חָמָֽל׃ |
7 and to say Nathan to(wards) David you(m. s.) [the] man thus to say LORD God Israel I to anoint you to/for king upon Israel and I to rescue you from hand: power Saul
| וַיֹּ֧אמֶר נָתָ֛ן אֶל־דָּוִ֖ד אַתָּ֣ה הָאִ֑ישׁ כֹּה־אָמַ֨ר יְהוָ֜ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אָנֹכִ֞י מְשַׁחְתִּ֤יךָֽ לְמֶ֙לֶךְ֙ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְאָנֹכִ֥י הִצַּלְתִּ֖יךָ מִיַּ֥ד שָׁאֽוּל׃ |
8 and to give: give [emph?] to/for you [obj] house: household lord your and [obj] woman: wife lord your in/on/with bosom: embrace your and to give: give [emph?] to/for you [obj] house: household Israel and Judah and if little and to add to/for you like/as them and like/as them
| וָאֶתְּנָ֨ה לְךָ֜ אֶת־בֵּ֣ית אֲדֹנֶ֗יךָ וְאֶת־נְשֵׁ֤י אֲדֹנֶ֙יךָ֙ בְּחֵיקֶ֔ךָ וָאֶתְּנָ֣ה לְךָ֔ אֶת־בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וִֽיהוּדָ֑ה וְאִ֨ם־מְעָ֔ט וְאֹסִ֥פָה לְּךָ֖ כָּהֵ֥נָּה וְכָהֵֽנָּה׃ |
9 why? to despise [obj] word LORD to/for to make: do [the] bad: evil (in/on/with eye: seeing my *Q(K)*) [obj] Uriah [the] Hittite to smite in/on/with sword and [obj] woman: wife his to take: take to/for you to/for woman: wife and [obj] him to kill in/on/with sword son: descendant/people Ammon
| מַדּ֜וּעַ בָּזִ֣יתָ ׀ אֶת־דְּבַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה לַעֲשֹׂ֣ות הָרַע֮ בְּעֵינֹו (בְּעֵינַי֒) אֵ֣ת אוּרִיָּ֤ה הַֽחִתִּי֙ הִכִּ֣יתָ בַחֶ֔רֶב וְאֶ֨ת־אִשְׁתֹּ֔ו לָקַ֥חְתָּ לְּךָ֖ לְאִשָּׁ֑ה וְאֹתֹ֣ו הָרַ֔גְתָּ בְּחֶ֖רֶב בְּנֵ֥י עַמֹּֽון׃ |
10 and now not to turn aside: depart sword from house: household your till forever: enduring consequence for to despise me and to take: take [obj] woman: wife Uriah [the] Hittite to/for to be to/for you to/for woman: wife
| וְעַתָּ֗ה לֹא־תָס֥וּר חֶ֛רֶב מִבֵּיתְךָ֖ עַד־עֹולָ֑ם עֵ֚קֶב כִּ֣י בְזִתָ֔נִי וַתִּקַּ֗ח אֶת־אֵ֙שֶׁת֙ אוּרִיָּ֣ה הַחִתִּ֔י לִהְיֹ֥ות לְךָ֖ לְאִשָּֽׁה׃ ס |
11 thus to say LORD look! I to arise: rise upon you distress: evil from house: household your and to take: take [obj] woman: wife your to/for eye: before(the eyes) your and to give: give to/for neighbor your and to lie down: lay down with woman: wife your to/for eye: seeing [the] sun [the] this
| כֹּ֣ה ׀ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה הִנְנִי֩ מֵקִ֨ים עָלֶ֤יךָ רָעָה֙ מִבֵּיתֶ֔ךָ וְלָקַחְתִּ֤י אֶת־נָשֶׁ֙יךָ֙ לְעֵינֶ֔יךָ וְנָתַתִּ֖י לְרֵעֶ֑יךָ וְשָׁכַב֙ עִם־נָשֶׁ֔יךָ לְעֵינֵ֖י הַשֶּׁ֥מֶשׁ הַזֹּֽאת׃ |
12 for you(m. s.) to make: do in/on/with secrecy and I to make: do [obj] [the] word: thing [the] this before all Israel and before [the] sun
| כִּ֥י אַתָּ֖ה עָשִׂ֣יתָ בַסָּ֑תֶר וַאֲנִ֗י אֶעֱשֶׂה֙ אֶת־הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֔ה נֶ֥גֶד כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וְנֶ֥גֶד הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃ ס |
13 and to say David to(wards) Nathan to sin to/for LORD and to say Nathan to(wards) David also LORD to pass: bring sin your not to die
| וַיֹּ֤אמֶר דָּוִד֙ אֶל־נָתָ֔ן חָטָ֖אתִי לַֽיהוָ֑ה ס וַיֹּ֨אמֶר נָתָ֜ן אֶל־דָּוִ֗ד גַּם־יְהוָ֛ה הֶעֱבִ֥יר חַטָּאתְךָ֖ לֹ֥א תָמֽוּת׃ |
14 end for to spurn to spurn [obj] enemy LORD in/on/with word: because [the] this also [the] son: child [the] born to/for you to die to die
| אֶ֗פֶס כִּֽי־נִאֵ֤ץ נִאַ֙צְתָּ֙ אֶת־אֹיְבֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה בַּדָּבָ֖ר הַזֶּ֑ה גַּ֗ם הַבֵּ֛ן הַיִּלֹּ֥וד לְךָ֖ מֹ֥ות יָמֽוּת׃ |
15 and to go: went Nathan to(wards) house: home his and to strike LORD [obj] [the] youth which to beget woman: wife Uriah to/for David and be incurable
| וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ נָתָ֖ן אֶל־בֵּיתֹ֑ו וַיִּגֹּ֣ף יְהוָ֗ה אֶת־הַיֶּ֜לֶד אֲשֶׁ֨ר יָלְדָ֧ה אֵֽשֶׁת־אוּרִיָּ֛ה לְדָוִ֖ד וַיֵּאָנַֽשׁ׃ |
16 and to seek David [obj] [the] God about/through/for [the] youth and to fast David fast and to come (in): come and to lodge and to lie down: lay down (in/on/with sackcloth *X*) land: soil [to]
| וַיְבַקֵּ֥שׁ דָּוִ֛ד אֶת־הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים בְּעַ֣ד הַנָּ֑עַר וַיָּ֤צָם דָּוִד֙ צֹ֔ום וּבָ֥א וְלָ֖ן וְשָׁכַ֥ב אָֽרְצָה׃ |
17 and to arise: establish old: elder house: household his upon him to/for to arise: establish him from [the] land: soil and not be willing and not to fatten with them food
| וַיָּקֻ֜מוּ זִקְנֵ֤י בֵיתֹו֙ עָלָ֔יו לַהֲקִימֹ֖ו מִן־הָאָ֑רֶץ וְלֹ֣א אָבָ֔ה וְלֹֽא־בָרָ֥א אִתָּ֖ם לָֽחֶם׃ |
18 and to be in/on/with day [the] seventh and to die [the] youth and to fear servant/slave David to/for to tell to/for him for to die [the] youth for to say behold in/on/with to be [the] youth alive to speak: speak to(wards) him and not to hear: hear in/on/with voice our and how? to say to(wards) him to die [the] youth and to make: do distress: harm
| וַיְהִ֛י בַּיֹּ֥ום הַשְּׁבִיעִ֖י וַיָּ֣מָת הַיָּ֑לֶד וַיִּֽרְאוּ֩ עַבְדֵ֨י דָוִ֜ד לְהַגִּ֥יד לֹ֣ו ׀ כִּי־מֵ֣ת הַיֶּ֗לֶד כִּ֤י אָֽמְרוּ֙ הִנֵּה֩ בִהְיֹ֨ות הַיֶּ֜לֶד חַ֗י דִּבַּ֤רְנוּ אֵלָיו֙ וְלֹא־שָׁמַ֣ע בְּקֹולֵ֔נוּ וְאֵ֨יךְ נֹאמַ֥ר אֵלָ֛יו מֵ֥ת הַיֶּ֖לֶד וְעָשָׂ֥ה רָעָֽה׃ |
19 and to see: see David for servant/slave his to whisper and to understand David for to die [the] youth and to say David to(wards) servant/slave his to die [the] youth and to say to die
| וַיַּ֣רְא דָּוִ֗ד כִּ֤י עֲבָדָיו֙ מִֽתְלַחֲשִׁ֔ים וַיָּ֥בֶן דָּוִ֖ד כִּ֣י מֵ֣ת הַיָּ֑לֶד וַיֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֧ד אֶל־עֲבָדָ֛יו הֲמֵ֥ת הַיֶּ֖לֶד וַיֹּ֥אמְרוּ מֵֽת׃ |
20 and to arise: rise David from [the] land: soil and to wash: wash and to anoint and to pass (mantle his *Q(K)*) and to come (in): come house: temple LORD and to bow and to come (in): come to(wards) house: home his and to ask and to set: make to/for him food and to eat
| וַיָּקָם֩ דָּוִ֨ד מֵהָאָ֜רֶץ וַיִּרְחַ֣ץ וַיָּ֗סֶךְ וַיְחַלֵּף֙ שִׂמְלֹתֹו (שִׂמְלֹתָ֔יו) וַיָּבֹ֥א בֵית־יְהוָ֖ה וַיִּשְׁתָּ֑חוּ וַיָּבֹא֙ אֶל־בֵּיתֹ֔ו וַיִּשְׁאַ֕ל וַיָּשִׂ֥ימוּ לֹ֛ו לֶ֖חֶם וַיֹּאכַֽל׃ |
21 and to say servant/slave his to(wards) him what? [the] word: thing [the] this which to make: do in/on/with for the sake of [the] youth alive to fast and to weep and like/as as which to die [the] youth to arise: rise and to eat food
| וַיֹּאמְר֤וּ עֲבָדָיו֙ אֵלָ֔יו מָֽה־הַדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשִׂ֑יתָה בַּעֲב֞וּר הַיֶּ֤לֶד חַי֙ צַ֣מְתָּ וַתֵּ֔בְךְּ וְכַֽאֲשֶׁר֙ מֵ֣ת הַיֶּ֔לֶד קַ֖מְתָּ וַתֹּ֥אכַל לָֽחֶם׃ |
22 and to say in/on/with still [the] youth alive to fast and to weep for to say who? to know (and be gracious me *Q(K)*) LORD and to live [the] youth
| וַיֹּ֕אמֶר בְּעֹוד֙ הַיֶּ֣לֶד חַ֔י צַ֖מְתִּי וָֽאֶבְכֶּ֑ה כִּ֤י אָמַ֙רְתִּי֙ מִ֣י יֹודֵ֔עַ יְחָנַּנִי (וְחַנַּ֥נִי) יְהוָ֖ה וְחַ֥י הַיָּֽלֶד׃ |
23 and now to die to/for what? this I to fast be able to/for to return: return him still I to go: went to(wards) him and he/she/it not to return: return to(wards) me
| וְעַתָּ֣ה ׀ מֵ֗ת לָ֤מָּה זֶּה֙ אֲנִ֣י צָ֔ם הַאוּכַ֥ל לַהֲשִׁיבֹ֖ו עֹ֑וד אֲנִי֙ הֹלֵ֣ךְ אֵלָ֔יו וְה֖וּא לֹֽא־יָשׁ֥וּב אֵלָֽי׃ |
24 and to be sorry: comfort David [obj] Bathsheba Bathsheba woman: wife his and to come (in): come to(wards) her and to lie down: lay down with her and to beget son: child (and to call: call by *Q(K)*) [obj] name his Solomon and LORD to love: lover him
| וַיְנַחֵ֣ם דָּוִ֗ד אֵ֚ת בַּת־שֶׁ֣בַע אִשְׁתֹּ֔ו וַיָּבֹ֥א אֵלֶ֖יהָ וַיִּשְׁכַּ֣ב עִמָּ֑הּ וַתֵּ֣לֶד בֵּ֗ן וַיִּקְרָא (וַתִּקְרָ֤א) אֶת־שְׁמֹו֙ שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה וַיהוָ֖ה אֲהֵבֹֽו׃ |
25 and to send: depart in/on/with hand: to Nathan [the] prophet and to call: call by [obj] name his Jedidiah in/on/with for the sake of LORD
| וַיִּשְׁלַ֗ח בְּיַד֙ נָתָ֣ן הַנָּבִ֔יא וַיִּקְרָ֥א אֶת־שְׁמֹ֖ו יְדִ֣ידְיָ֑הּ בַּעֲב֖וּר יְהוָֽה׃ פ |
26 and to fight Joab in/on/with Rabbah son: descendant/people Ammon and to capture [obj] city [the] kingship
| וַיִּלָּ֣חֶם יֹואָ֔ב בְּרַבַּ֖ת בְּנֵ֣י עַמֹּ֑ון וַיִּלְכֹּ֖ד אֶת־עִ֥יר הַמְּלוּכָֽה׃ |
27 and to send: depart Joab messenger to(wards) David and to say to fight in/on/with Rabbah also to capture [obj] city [the] water
| וַיִּשְׁלַ֥ח יֹואָ֛ב מַלְאָכִ֖ים אֶל־דָּוִ֑ד וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ נִלְחַ֣מְתִּי בְרַבָּ֔ה גַּם־לָכַ֖דְתִּי אֶת־עִ֥יר הַמָּֽיִם׃ |
28 and now to gather [obj] remainder [the] people and to camp upon [the] city and to capture her lest to capture I [obj] [the] city and to call: call by name my upon her
| וְעַתָּ֗ה אֱסֹף֙ אֶת־יֶ֣תֶר הָעָ֔ם וַחֲנֵ֥ה עַל־הָעִ֖יר וְלָכְדָ֑הּ פֶּן־אֶלְכֹּ֤ד אֲנִי֙ אֶת־הָעִ֔יר וְנִקְרָ֥א שְׁמִ֖י עָלֶֽיהָ׃ |
29 and to gather David [obj] all [the] people and to go: went Rabbah [to] and to fight in/on/with her and to capture her
| וַיֶּאֱסֹ֥ף דָּוִ֛ד אֶת־כָּל־הָעָ֖ם וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ רַבָּ֑תָה וַיִּלָּ֥חֶם בָּ֖הּ וַֽיִּלְכְּדָֽהּ׃ |
30 and to take: take [obj] crown king their from upon head his and weight her talent gold and stone precious and to be upon head David and spoil [the] city to come out: send to multiply much
| וַיִּקַּ֣ח אֶת־עֲטֶֽרֶת־מַלְכָּם֩ מֵעַ֨ל רֹאשֹׁ֜ו וּמִשְׁקָלָ֨הּ כִּכַּ֤ר זָהָב֙ וְאֶ֣בֶן יְקָרָ֔ה וַתְּהִ֖י עַל־רֹ֣אשׁ דָּוִ֑ד וּשְׁלַ֥ל הָעִ֛יר הֹוצִ֖יא הַרְבֵּ֥ה מְאֹֽד׃ |
31 and [obj] [the] people which in/on/with her to come out: send and to set: make in/on/with saw and in/on/with incision [the] iron and in/on/with axe [the] iron and to pass [obj] them (in/on/with brick *Q(K)*) and so to make: do to/for all city son: descendant/people Ammon and to return: return David and all [the] people Jerusalem
| וְאֶת־הָעָ֨ם אֲשֶׁר־בָּ֜הּ הֹוצִ֗יא וַיָּ֣שֶׂם בַּ֠מְּגֵרָה וּבַחֲרִצֵ֨י הַבַּרְזֶ֜ל וּֽבְמַגְזְרֹ֣ת הַבַּרְזֶ֗ל וְהֶעֱבִ֤יר אֹותָם֙ בַּמַּלְכֶּן (בַּמַּלְבֵּ֔ן) וְכֵ֣ן יַעֲשֶׂ֔ה לְכֹ֖ל עָרֵ֣י בְנֵֽי־עַמֹּ֑ון וַיָּ֧שָׁב דָּוִ֛ד וְכָל־הָעָ֖ם יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃ פ |
