1 Samuel 5

1 and Philistine to take: take [obj] ark [the] God and to come (in): bring him from Ebenezer [the] Ebenezer Ashdod [to]

فلسطینی‌ها صندوق عهد خدا را از ابن‌عزر به معبد بت خویش داجون، در شهر اشدود آوردند و آن را نزدیک داجون گذاشتند.

2 and to take: take Philistine [obj] ark [the] God and to come (in): bring [obj] him house: temple Dagon and to set [obj] him beside Dagon

3 and to rise Ashdod from morrow and behold Dagon to fall: fall to/for face his land: soil [to] to/for face: before ark LORD and to take: take [obj] Dagon and to return: return [obj] him to/for place his

اما صبح روز بعد، هنگامی که مردم شهر برای دیدن صندوق عهد خداوند رفتند، دیدند که داجون در مقابل آن، رو به زمین افتاده است. آنها داجون را برداشته، دوباره سرجایش گذاشتند.

4 and to rise in/on/with morning from morrow and behold Dagon to fall: fall to/for face his land: soil [to] to/for face: before ark LORD and head Dagon and two palm hand his to cut: eliminate to(wards) [the] threshold except Dagon to remain upon him

ولی صبح روز بعد، باز همان اتفاق افتاد: آن بت در حضور صندوق عهد خداوند رو به زمین افتاده بود. این بار سر داجون و دو دستش قطع شده و در آستانهٔ در بتکده افتاده بود، فقط تنهٔ آن سالم مانده بود.

5 upon so not to tread priest Dagon and all [the] to come (in): come house: temple Dagon upon threshold Dagon in/on/with Ashdod till [the] day [the] this

(به همین سبب است که تا به امروز، کاهنان داجون و پرستندگانش به آستانهٔ در بتخانهٔ داجون در اشدود پا نمی‌گذارند.)

6 and to honor: heavy hand: power LORD to(wards) [the] Ashdod and be desolate: appalled them and to smite [obj] them (in/on/with tumor *Q(K)*) [obj] Ashdod and [obj] border: area her

خداوند اهالی اشدود و آبادی‌های اطراف آن را سخت مجازات کرد و بلای دمل به جان آنها فرستاد.

7 and to see: see human Ashdod for so and to say not to dwell ark God Israel with us for to harden hand: power his upon us and upon Dagon God our

وقتی مردم دریافتند که چه اتفاقی افتاده، گفتند: «دیگر نمی‌توانیم صندوق عهد را بیش از این در اینجا نگاه داریم، زیرا خدای اسرائیل همهٔ ما را با خدایمان داجون هلاک خواهد کرد.»

8 and to send: depart and to gather [obj] all lord Philistine to(wards) them and to say what? to make: do to/for ark God Israel and to say Gath to turn: turn ark God Israel and to turn: turn [obj] ark God Israel

پس آنها قاصدانی فرستاده، تمام رهبران فلسطینی را جمع کردند و گفتند: «با صندوق عهد خدای اسرائیل چه کنیم؟» آنها جواب دادند: «آن را به جَت ببرید.» پس صندوق عهد را به جت بردند.

9 and to be after to turn: turn [obj] him and to be hand: power LORD in/on/with city tumult great: large much and to smite [obj] human [the] city from small: young and till great: old and to burst to/for them (tumor *Q(K)*)

اما وقتی صندوق به جت رسید، خداوند اهالی آنجا را نیز از پیر و جوان به بلای دمل دچار کرد. ترس و اضطراب همهٔ اهالی شهر را فرا گرفت.

10 and to send: depart [obj] ark [the] God Ekron and to be like/as to come (in): come ark [the] God Ekron and to cry out [the] Ekron to/for to say to turn: turn to(wards) me [obj] ark God Israel to/for to die me and [obj] people my

پس آنها صندوق عهد خدا را به عقرون فرستادند، اما چون اهالی عقرون دیدند که صندوق عهد به نزد آنها آورده می‌شود فریاد برآوردند: «آنها صندوق عهد خدای اسرائیل را به اینجا می‌آورند تا ما را نیز نابود کنند.»

11 and to send: depart and to gather [obj] all lord Philistine and to say to send: depart [obj] ark God Israel and to return: return to/for place his and not to die [obj] me and [obj] people my for to be tumult death in/on/with all [the] city to honor: heavy much hand: power [the] God there

اهالی عقرون، رهبران فلسطینی را احضار کرده گفتند: «صندوق عهد خدای اسرائیل را به جای خود برگردانید و گرنه همهٔ ما را از بین می‌برد.» ترس و اضطراب تمام شهر را فرا گرفته بود، زیرا خدا آنها را هلاک می‌کرد.

12 and [the] human which not to die to smite (in/on/with tumor *Q(K)*) and to ascend: rise cry [the] city [the] heaven

آنانی هم که نمرده بودند به دمل مبتلا شدند. فریاد مردم شهر تا به آسمان بالا رفت.
