Rehoboam, filho de Salomão, reinou em Judá. Roboão tinha quarenta e um anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou dezessete anos em Jerusalém, a cidade que Javé havia escolhido de todas as tribos de Israel, para colocar seu nome lá. O nome de sua mãe era Naamah, a amonita.
