Titus 3
1 do remind them to rulers (and *k*) to authorities to be subject, to be obedient, for every work good ready to be,
Remind them to follow what rulers tell them to do, and to obey authorities. They should always be ready to do what is good.
2 no one to denigrate, peaceable to be, gentle, all showing humility toward all men.
They should not speak badly about anyone, and they should not be argumentative. Tell them to show gentleness and kindness to everyone.
3 Were for once also we ourselves foolish, disobedient, being deceived, serving lusts and pleasures various, in malice and envy living, hateful, hating one another.
For there was a time when we too were foolish and disobedient. We were deceived and slaves to various desires and pleasures. We lived wicked lives full of jealousy, hateful people hating one another.
4 When however the kindness and the love of mankind appeared of the Savior of us God,
But when the goodness and love of God our Savior was revealed, he saved us,
5 not by works in righteousness (that *N(k)O*) did we ourselves, but according to (*N(k)O*) His (mercy *N(k)O*) He saved us through [the] washing of regeneration and renewing of [the] Spirit Holy
not because of anything good that we've done, but because of his mercy. He did this through the cleansing of rebirth and renewal of the Holy Spirit,
6 whom He poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ the Savior of us,
which he poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior.
7 so that having been justified by that grace heirs (we may become *N(k)O*) according to [the] hope of life eternal. (aiōnios g166)
Now that we are set right by his grace we have become heirs having the hope of eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
8 Trustworthy [is] the saying, and concerning these things I want you to affirm strongly so that may take care to good works to be devoted those already believing (*k*) in God; These things are (*k*) excellent and profitable to men.
You can trust what I'm saying, and I want you to emphasize these instructions so that those who trust in God will think seriously about them and continue to do good. They are excellent and helpful for everyone.
9 Foolish however controversies and genealogies and (arguments *NK(O)*) and quarrels about [the] Law do yourself avoid; they are for unprofitable and worthless.
Avoid pointless discussions, and obsessions about ancestry. Don't get into arguments, and avoid fights over the Jewish laws—they're useless and don't help at all.
10 A factious man after one and a second admonition do reject
Warn someone who is divisive once, and then again—after that don't pay them any attention,
11 knowing that has been corrupt such a man and is sinning being self-condemned.
realizing that they're perverse and sinful and have condemned themselves.
12 When I may send Artemas to you or Tychicus, do be diligent to come to me into Nicopolis; there for I have decided to winter.
As soon as I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, try and come to me at Nicopolis because I'm planning to spend the winter there.
13 Zenas the lawyer and Apollos earnestly do equip, so that nothing to them may be lacking.
Do all you can to help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their way so that they have everything they need.
14 should learn now also our own [people] to good works to devote themselves for necessary needs, so that not they may be unfruitful.
May our people learn the habit of doing good in providing for the daily needs of others. They need to be productive!
