< Titus 2 >

1 You yourself however do speak [the things] that are consistent with sound doctrine.
But as for you, you must speak in a manner that befits wholesome teaching.
2 [The] aged [men] sober-minded are to be, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, in endurance.
Exhort aged men to be temperate, grave, sober-minded, robust in their faith, their love and their patience.
3 [the] aged [women] likewise in behavior reverent, not slanderers, (not *NK(o)*) to wine much enslaved, teachers of what is good,
In the same way exhort aged women to let their conduct be such as becomes consecrated persons. They must not be slanderers nor enslaved to wine-drinking. They must be teachers of what is right.
4 so that (they may train *NK(o)*) the young [women] lovers of [their] husbands to be, loving [their] children,
They should school the young women to be affectionate to their husbands and to their children, to be sober-minded, pure in their lives,
5 self-controlled, pure (busy at home *N(k)O*) kind, being subject to [their] own husbands, so that not the word of God may be denigrated.
industrious in their homes, kind, submissive to their husbands, so that the Christian teaching may not be exposed to reproach.
6 The younger [men] likewise do exhort to be self-controlled,
In the same way exhort the younger men to be discreet,
7 In all things yourself be holding forth [as] a pattern of good works, in the teaching (unspoilable *K*) incorruptable, dignity
and above all make your own life a pattern of right conduct, having in your teaching no taint of insincerity, but a serious tone,
8 speech sound, beyond reproach, so that he who is of the contrary may be ashamed nothing having to say concerning (us *N(K)O*) evil.
and healthy language which no one can censure, so that our opponents may feel ashamed at having nothing evil to say against us.
9 Servants to [their] own masters are to be subject, in everything well-pleasing to be, not gainsaying,
Exhort slaves to be always obedient to their owners, and to give them satisfaction in everything, not contradicting and not pilfering,
10 not pilfering but all fidelity showing good, so that the doctrine (which [is] *no*) of the Savior (of us *NK(O)*) God they may adorn in all things.
but manifesting perfect fidelity and kind feeling, in order to bring honour to the teaching of our Saviour, God, in all things.
11 Has appeared for the grace of God (*k*) [bringing] salvation to all men
For the grace of God has displayed itself with healing power to all mankind,
12 instructing us that having denied ungodliness and worldly passions discreetly and righteously and piously we may live in the present age (aiōn g165)
training us to renounce ungodliness and all the pleasures of this world, and to live sober, upright, and pious lives at the present time, (aiōn g165)
13 awaiting the blessed hope and [the] appearing of the glory of the great God and Savior of us Jesus Christ
in expectation of the fulfilment of our blessed hope--the Appearing in glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 who gave Himself for us that He may redeem us from all lawlessness and may purify to Himself a people specially chosen, zealous of good works.
who gave Himself for us to purchase our freedom from all iniquity, and purify for Himself a people who should be specially His own, zealous for doing good works.
15 These things do speak and do exhort and do rebuke with all authority. No one you should despise.
Thus speak, exhort, reprove, with all impressiveness. Let no one make light of your authority.
