Ruth 1
1 And it was in [the] days of [the] judging of the judges and it was a famine in the land and he went a man from Beth-lehem Judah to sojourn in [the] region of Moab he and wife his and [the] two sons his.
Als einst die Richter noch regierten, kam eine Hungersnot ins Land. Da machte sich ein Mann aus Bethlehem in Juda auf, in das Gefilde von Moab auszuwandern, er und sein Weib und seine beiden Söhne.
2 And [the] name of the man [was] Elimelech and [the] name of wife his [was] Naomi and [the] name of [the] two sons his - [was] Mahlon and Kilion Ephrathites from Beth-lehem Judah and they came [the] region of Moab and they were there.
Der Name des Mannes war Elimelek, der seines Weibes Noëmi. Machlon und Kiljon hießen seine beiden Söhne, aus Bethlehem in Juda, Ephratiter. Und sie gelangten ins Gefilde Moabs und ließen sich dort nieder.
3 And he died Elimelech [the] husband of Naomi and she was left she and [the] two sons her.
Da starb Elimelek, der Gatte Noëmis. Sie aber blieb mit ihren beiden Söhnen dort.
4 And they took for themselves wives Moabite [the] name of the one [was] Orpah and [the] name of the second [was] Ruth and they dwelt there about ten years.
Und diese nahmen moabitische Weiber. Orpa hieß die eine, die andere Ruth. Sie weilten ungefähr zehn Jahre dort.
5 And they died also both of them Mahlon and Kilion and she was left the woman from both children her and from husband her.
Da starben auch die beiden, Machlon und Kiljon. So blieb das Weib allein von ihren beiden Söhnen und ihrem Manne übrig.
6 And she arose she and daughters-in-law her and she returned from [the] region of Moab if she had heard in [the] region of Moab that he had visited Yahweh people his by giving to them food.
Darauf erhob sie sich mit ihren Schwiegertöchtern, um aus dem Moablande heimzukehren. Im Lande Moab nämlich hatte sie vernommen, der Herr habe heimgesucht sein Volk und abermals ihm Brot gespendet.
7 And she went out from the place where she had been there and [the] two daughters-in-law her [were] with her and they went on the way to return to [the] land of Judah.
So zog sie von dem Ort, wo sie gewesen, und das Geleit gaben ihr die beiden Schwiegertöchter. So zogen sie des Wegs, um wieder in das Judaland zurückzukehren.
8 And she said Naomi to [the] two daughters-in-law her go return [each] woman to [the] house of mother her (may he deal *Q(K)*) Yahweh with you covenant loyalty just as you have dealt with the dead and with me.
Und Noëmi sprach da zu ihren beiden Schwiegertöchtern: "Geht! Kehrt um, eine jede zu ihrer Mutter Haus! Der Herr erweise euch nur Liebe, so, wie ihr an den Toten und an mir getan!
9 May he give Yahweh to you and find rest [each] woman [the] house of husband her and she kissed them and they raised voice their and they wept.
Der Herr verleihe euch, daß ihr jetzt eine Heimat wieder findet, im Hause ihres Mannes eine jede!" Dann gab sie ihnen Küsse. Doch sie begannen laut zu weinen.
10 And they said to her that with you we will return to people your.
Sie sprachen: "Nein! Wir wollen auch mit dir zu deinem Volke gehen."
11 And she said Naomi go back O daughters my why? will you go with me ¿ still [belong] to me [do] sons in inward parts my and they will become of you husbands.
Darauf sprach Noëmi: "Nein, meine Töchter, kehrt um! Was wollt ihr mit mir gehen? Könnte ich noch Söhne wohl in meinem Schoße hegen, die eure Männer werden könnten?
12 Go back O daughters my go for I am [too] old for belonging to a husband if I said there for me [is] hope also I belonged this night to a husband and also I bore sons.
Nein, meine Töchter, kehrt um! Ich bin zu alt für einen Mann. Selbst wenn ich dächte: Ich habe immerhin noch Aussicht und würde diese Nacht noch eines Mannes werden und sogar Söhne gebären,
13 ¿ Therefore - will you wait until that they will grow up ¿ therefore will you shut yourselves off to not to belong to a husband may not [it be] O daughters my for it is bitter to me very more than you that it has gone forth on me [the] hand of Yahweh.
ja, wolltet ihr auf diese warten, bis sie erwachsen wären? Ja, wolltet ihr an sie gebunden sein und nicht bis dahin heiraten? Nein, meine Töchter! Ich bin viel schlimmer dran als ihr, ist ja die Hand des Herrn gegen mich gewesen."
14 And they raised voice their and they wept again and she kissed Orpah mother-in-law her and Ruth she clung to her.
Da weinten sie aufs neue laut. Darauf gab Orpa ihrer Schwiegermutter einen Abschiedskuß. Ruth aber hängte sich an sie.
15 And she said there! she has returned sister-in-law your to people her and to gods her go back after sister-in-law your.
Sie aber sprach: "Siehe, deine Schwägerin ist zurückgekehrt zu ihrem Volk und ihrem Gott. Dem Beispiel deiner Schwägerin folge!"
16 And she said Ruth may not you entreat me to abandon you to turn back from after you for to where you will go I will go and at where you will lodge I will lodge people your [will be] people my and God your [will be] God my.
Ruth sprach: "Dringe nicht in mich, dich zu verlassen, von dir fortzugehen! Wohin du gehst, dahin gehe auch ich; und wo du bleibst, da bleibe auch ich. Dein Volk mein Volk. Dein Gott mein Gott!
17 At where you will die I will die and there I will be buried thus may he do Yahweh to me and thus may he add if death it will separate between me and between you.
Und wo du stirbst, will auch ich sterben. Da will auch ich begraben sein. Tue mir der Herr an, was er nur will! Der Tod allein scheide zwischen mir und dir!"
18 And she saw that [was] determined she to go with her and she ceased to speak to her.
Als sie nun sah, daß jene fest entschlossen war, mit ihr zu gehen, da sprach sie ihr nicht weiter zu.
19 And they went [the] two of them until came they Beth-lehem and it was when came they Beth-lehem and it was excited all the city on them and they [fem] said ¿ [is] this Naomi.
So gingen diese zwei des Wegs, bis sie nach Bethlehem gelangten. Als sie nun Bethlehem betraten, geriet die ganze Stadt ihretwegen in Aufruhr. Sie fragten: "Ist dies Noëmi?"
20 And she said to them may not you call me Naomi call me Mara for he has caused bitterness [the] Almighty to me exceedingly.
Sie sprach zu ihnen: "Nennt mich nicht Noëmi! Nein, nennt mich Mara! Denn der Allmächtige hat über mich viel Bitteres verhängt.
21 I full I went and empty he has brought back me Yahweh why? do you call me Naomi and Yahweh he has testified against me and [the] Almighty he has done harm to me.
Voll bin ich ausgezogen, und leer bringt mich der Herr zurück. Was wollt ihr Noëmi mich heißen? Gezeugt hat gegen mich der Herr. Es hat der Allerhöchste Leid mir zugefügt."
22 And she returned Naomi and Ruth the Moabite [woman] daughter-in-law her [was] with her who returned from [the] region of Moab and they they came Beth-lehem at [the] beginning of [the] harvest of barley.
So kehrte Noëmi nach Hause in der Begleitung Ruths, der Moabitin, ihrer Schwiegertochter, die aus dem Lande Moab kam. Und sie betraten Bethlehem gerade zu Beginn der Gerstenernte.
