Psalms 8

1 To the choirmaster on the Gittith a psalm of David. O Yahweh lord our how! majestic [is] name your in all the earth [the one] who set! splendor your above the heavens.

Dem Musikmeister, nach der gattitischen. Ein Psalm Davids. Jahwe, unser Herrscher, wie herrlich ist dein Name auf der ganzen Erde, der du deine Pracht auf den Himmel gelegt hast.

2 From [the] mouth of children - and suckling-children you have established strength on account of opposers your to put an end to an enemy and an avenger.

Durch den Mund von Kindern und Säuglingen hast du ein Bollwerk gegründet um deiner Widersacher willen, damit du Feinde und Rachgierige zum Schweigen bringest.

3 If I will see heavens your [the] works fingers your [the] moon and [the] stars which you have established.

Wenn ich deinen Himmel anschaue, das Werk deiner Finger, den Mond und die Sterne, die du bereitet hast, -

4 What? [is] humankind that you will remember him and a son of humankind that you will pay attention to him.

was ist der Mensch, daß du seiner gedenkst, und das Menschenkind, daß du nach ihm schaust?

5 And you have made lack him little from God and honor and majesty you crown him.

Denn du ließest ihn nur wenig hinter Gott zurückstehn und mit Ehre und Hoheit umgabst du ihn.

6 You make rule him over [the] works of hands your everything you have put under feet his.

Du machtest in zum Herrn über die Werke deiner Hände; alles hast du unter seine Füße gelegt:

7 Sheep and cattle all of them and also [the] animals of [the] field.

Schafe und Rinder insgesamt, dazu auch die Tiere des Feldes,

8 [the] bird[s] of [the] heavens And [the] fish of the sea [that which] passes through [the] paths of [the] seas.

die Vögel unter dem Himmel und die Fische im Meere - was irgend die Meerespfade durchzieht.

9 O Yahweh lord our how! majestic [is] name your in all the earth.

Jahwe, unser Herrscher, wie herrlich ist dein Name auf der ganzen Erde!
