Psalms 44
1 To the choirmaster of [the] sons of Korah a poem. O God - with ears our we have heard ancestors our they have recounted to us [the] deed[s] [which] you did in days their in days of antiquity.
Een onderwijzing, voor den opperzangmeester, onder de kinderen van Korach. O God! wij hebben het met onze oren gehoord, onze vaders hebben het ons verteld: Gij hebt een werk gewrocht in hun dagen, in de dagen van ouds.
2 You - hand your nations you dispossessed and you planted them you did harm to peoples and you set free them.
Gij hebt de heidenen met Uw hand uit de bezitting verdreven, maar henlieden geplant; Gij hebt de volken geplaagd, henlieden daarentegen doen voortschieten.
3 For not by sword their they took possession of [the] land and arm their not it saved them for right [hand] your and arm your and [the] light of face your for you took pleasure in them.
Want zij hebben het land niet geerfd door hun zwaard, en hun arm heeft hun geen heil gegeven; maar Uw rechterhand, en Uw arm, en het licht Uws aangezichts, omdat Gij een welbehagen in hen hadt.
4 You he [are] king my O God ordain [the] victories of Jacob.
Gij Zelf zijt mijn Koning, o God! gebied de verlossingen Jakobs.
5 By you opponents our we gore in name your we tread down [those who] rise up against us.
Door U zullen wij onze wederpartijders met hoornen stoten; in Uw Naam zullen wij vertreden, die tegen ons opstaan.
6 For not in bow my I trust and sword my not it saves me.
Want ik vertrouw niet op mijn boog, en mijn zwaard zal mij niet verlossen.
7 For you have saved us from foes our and [those who] hate us you have put to shame.
Maar Gij verlost ons van onze wederpartijders, en Gij maakt onze haters beschaamd.
8 In God we have boasted all the day and name your - for ever we will praise (Selah)
In God roemen wij den gansen dag, en Uw Naam zullen wij loven in eeuwigheid. (Sela)
9 Also you have rejected and you have humiliated us and not you have gone out with armies our.
Maar nu hebt Gij ons verstoten en te schande gemaakt, dewijl Gij met onze krijgsheiren niet uittrekt.
10 You have made turn back us backwards from [the] opponent and [those who] hate us they have plundered for themselves.
Gij doet ons achterwaarts keren van den wederpartijder; en onze haters beroven ons voor zich.
11 You have made us like sheep of food and among the nations you have scattered us.
Gij geeft ons over als schapen ter spijze, en Gij verstrooit ons onder de heidenen.
12 You have sold people your for not wealth and not you have made great by price their.
Gij verkoopt Uw volk om geen waardij; en Gij verhoogt hun prijs niet.
13 You have made us a reproach to neighbors our mockery and derision to [those] around us.
Gij stelt ons onze naburen tot smaad, tot spot en schimp dengenen, die rondom ons zijn.
14 You have made us a byword among the nations a shaking of head not peoples.
Gij stelt ons tot een spreekwoord onder de heidenen, tot een hoofdschudding onder de volken.
15 All the day ignominy my [is] before me and [the] shame of face my it has covered me.
Mijn schande is den gansen dag voor mij, en de schaamte mijns aangezichts bedekt mij;
16 From [the] sound of [one who] taunts and [one who] reviles because of an enemy and an avenger.
Om de stem des honers en des lasteraars, vanwege den vijand en den wraakgierige.
17 All this it has come to us and not we had forgotten you and not we had dealt falsely with covenant your.
Dit alles is ons overkomen, nochtans hebben wij U niet vergeten, noch valselijk gehandeld tegen Uw verbond.
18 Not it had turned back backwards heart our and it had turned aside steps our from path your.
Ons hart is niet achterwaarts gekeerd, noch onze gang geweken van Uw pad.
19 For you have crushed us in a place of jackals and you have covered over us with deep darkness.
Hoewel Gij ons verpletterd hebt in een plaats der draken, en ons met een doodsschaduw bedekt hebt.
20 If we had forgotten [the] name of God our and we had spread out hands our to a god strange.
Zo wij den Naam onzes Gods hadden vergeten, en onze handen tot een vreemden God uitgebreid.
21 ¿ Not God will he search out this for he [is] knowing [the] secrets of [the] heart.
Zou God zulks niet onderzoeken? Want Hij weet de verborgenheden des harten.
22 For on you we have been killed all the day we have been regarded like sheep of slaughter.
Maar om Uwentwil worden wij den gansen dag gedood; wij worden geacht als slachtschapen.
23 Awake! - why? do you sleep - O Lord awake! may not you reject [us] to perpetuity.
Waak op, waarom zoudt Gij slapen, HEERE! Ontwaak, verstoot niet in eeuwigheid.
24 Why? face your do you hide do you forget? affliction our and oppression our.
Waarom zoudt Gij Uw aangezicht verbergen, onze ellende en onze onderdrukking vergeten?
25 For it has sunk down to the dust self our it has clung to the earth belly our.
Want onze ziel is in het stof nedergebogen; onze buik kleeft aan de aarde.
26 Arise! a help of us and redeem us for [the] sake of covenant loyalty your.
Sta op, ons ter hulp, en verlos ons om Uwer goedertierenheid wil.
