Psalms 40
1 To the choirmaster of David a psalm. Certainly I waited for Yahweh and he stretched out to me and he heard cry for help my.
Au chef des chantres; de David. Psaume. J’Ai placé mon ferme espoir en l’Eternel: il s’est incliné vers moi, il a entendu ma supplication.
2 And he brought up me - from a pit of roaring from [the] mud of the mire and he set on a rock feet my he established steps my.
Il m’a retiré d’un gouffre tumultueux, d’un bourbier fangeux; il a posé mes pieds sur le roc et affermi mes pas.
3 And he put in mouth my - a song new praise to God our they will see many [people] so they may fear and they may trust in Yahweh.
Il a mis dans ma bouche un cantique nouveau, des louanges en l’honneur de notre Dieu; beaucoup s’en aperçoivent, éprouvent de la vénération, et mettent leur confiance en l’Eternel.
4 How blessed! [is] the man who he has made Yahweh trust his and not he has turned to proud people and [those who] fall away of falsehood.
Heureux l’homme qui cherche sa sécurité en l’Eternel, et ne se tourne pas vers les orgueilleux et les amis du mensonge!
5 Many you have made - you - O Yahweh God my wonders your and plans your to us not - to compare to you I will declare and I will speak they are [too] numerous for recounting.
Que de prodiges, ô Eternel, mon Dieu, que de desseins tu as accomplis en notre faveur! Rien n’est comparable à toi, j’aimerais les proclamer et les redire encore… Leur grand nombre défie toute description.
6 Sacrifice and offering - not you desired ears you dug for me burnt offering and sin offering not you asked for.
Tu ne souhaites ni sacrifice ni oblation, tu m’as perforé des oreilles pour entendre tu n’exiges ni holocaustes ni expiatoires.
7 Then I said here! I have come in [the] scroll of [the] book [it is] written on me.
Aussi je dis: "Voici, je me présente! Dans le rouleau du livre se trouve ce qui m’est prescrit.
8 To do will your O God my I desire and law your [is] in [the] midst of inward parts my.
Accomplir ta volonté, mon Dieu, tel est mon désir; ta loi a pénétré jusqu’au fond de mes entrailles."
9 I have borne news righteousness - in [the] assembly great here! lips my not I restrain O Yahweh you you know.
J’Ai proclamé ton équité dans une nombreuse assemblée, voici, je n’ai pas tenu mes lèvres closes: Eternel, toi, tu le sais.
10 Righteousness your not I have concealed - in [the] midst of heart my faithfulness your and salvation your I have spoken not I have hidden covenant loyalty your and faithfulness your to [the] assembly great.
Je n’ai point fait le silence sur ta justice, dont mon cœur est plein; j’ai dit ta fidélité et ta protection; je n’ai point caché ta grâce et ta bienveillance à la grande foule.
11 You O Yahweh not you will withhold compassion your from me covenant loyalty your and faithfulness your continually they preserve me.
Toi, non plus, ne me refuse pas ta clémence; que ta grâce et ta bonté me protègent sans cesse!
12 For they have surrounded me - troubles until there not [was] number they have overtaken me iniquities my and not I am able to see they are numerous more than [the] hairs of head my and heart my it has abandoned me.
car des maux sans nombre m’assiègent, mes péchés m’ont débordé, je ne puis plus rien voir; ils sont plus abondants que les cheveux de ma tête; aussi mon cœur est-il défaillant en moi.
13 Be pleased O Yahweh to deliver me O Yahweh to help my make haste!
Consens, Seigneur, à me sauver; Eternel, hâte-toi de me porter secours.
14 May they be ashamed and they may be abashed - altogether [those who] seek life my to snatch away it may they be turned back backwards and may they be humiliated [the] [people] desirous of harm my.
Qu’ils soient ensemble confondus et couverts de honte, ceux qui attentent à ma vie, pour la supprimer! Qu’ils lâchent pied et reculent, en rougissant, ceux qui souhaitent mon malheur!
15 May they be appalled on [the] consequence of shame their those [who] say to me aha! - aha!
Qu’ils soient frappés de stupeur par suite de leur honte, ceux qui disent de moi: "Ha! Ha!"
16 May they exult and they may rejoice - in you all [those who] seek you may they say continually he is great Yahweh [those who] love salvation your.
Mais qu’ils jubilent et se réjouissent en toi, tous ceux qui te recherchent; qu’ils disent constamment: "Dieu est grand!" ceux qui aiment ta protection!
17 And I - [am] poor and needy [the] Lord may he think to me [are] help my and deliverer my you O God my may not you delay.
Quant à moi, pauvre et malheureux, que mon Seigneur ait égard à moi! Tu es mon aide et ma sauvegarde: Eternel, n’attends pas trop longtemps.
