Psalms 39

Dem Musikmeister Jeduthun; ein Psalm von David. Ich dachte: »Achten will ich auf meine Wege,
2 I was dumb silence I was silent from good and pain my it was stirred up.
So ward ich denn stumm, ganz stumm, mit Gewalt schweigsam; doch es wühlte mein Schmerz noch wilder.
3 It became hot heart my - in inner being my in sighing my it burned fire I spoke with tongue my.
Das Herz ward mir heiß in der Brust, ob meinem Grübeln brannte ein Feuer in mir; da ließ ich meiner Zunge freien Lauf:
4 Make known to me O Yahweh - end my and [the] measure of days my what? [is] it let me know how! fleeting [am] I.
»HERR, laß mein Ende mich wissen und welches das Maß meiner Tage ist! Laß mich erkennen, wie vergänglich ich bin!

Ach, spannenlang hast du mir die Tage gemacht, und meines Lebens Dauer ist wie nichts vor dir: ja, nur als ein Hauch steht jeglicher Mensch da!« (SELA)

Fürwahr nur als Schattenbild wandelt der Mensch einher, nur um ein Nichts wird so viel Lärm gemacht; man häuft auf und weiß nicht, wer es einheimst.

Züchtigst du einen Menschen mit Strafen um der Sünde willen, so läßt du seine Schönheit vergehn wie die Motte: ach, nur ein Hauch ist jeglicher Mensch! (SELA)

Höre, o HERR, mein Gebet und vernimm mein Schreien, bleib’ nicht stumm bei meinen Tränen! Denn ein Gast (nur) bin ich bei dir, ein Beisaß wie all meine Väter.
