Psalms 12

1 To the choirmaster on the sheminith a psalm of David. Save! O Yahweh for he has come to an end [the] faithful for they have vanished faithful [people] from [the] children of humankind.

Dem Musikmeister, im Basston; ein Psalm von David. Hilf doch, o HERR! Denn dahin sind die Frommen

2 Falsehood - they speak each with neighbor his a lip of flatteri with a heart and a heart they speak.

Falschheit reden sie jeder mit dem andern, mit glatten Lippen, mit doppeltem Herzen reden sie. –

3 May he cut off Yahweh all [the] lips of flatteri a tongue [which] speaks great [things].

O daß doch der HERR vertilgte alle glatten Lippen, die Zunge, die vermessen redet,

4 Which they say - tongues our we will make strong lips our [are] with us who? [is] master of us.

(die Leute) die da sagen: »Durch unsre Zunge sind wir starke Helden, unser Mund steht uns zur Verfügung: wer will uns meistern?«

5 From [the] devastation of afflicted [people] from [the] groaning of needy [people] now I will arise he says Yahweh I will set in [the] safety [one who] he pants for it.

»Ob der Knechtung der Niedrigen, ob dem Seufzen der Armen will jetzt ich mich erheben«, spricht der HERR, »will Rettung schaffen dem, der danach verlangt!« –

6 [the] words of Yahweh [are] words pure silver refined in a crucible of the earth purified sevenfold.

Die Worte des HERRN sind lautere Worte, sind Silber, im Schmelzofen siebenfältig geläutert.

7 You O Yahweh you will keep them you will guard him - from the generation this for ever.

Du, HERR, wirst treulich sie halten, wirst uns schirmen vor diesem Geschlecht zu jeder Zeit,

8 All around wicked [people] they walk about! when is exalted vileness by [the] children of humankind.

vor den Gottlosen, die ringsum stolzieren, weil Gemeinheit sich bläht inmitten der Menschheit.
